    Think about inter-railing. You will get a number of free days and half price days (how many depends on the length of your pass). Use the free days for long/expensive journeys (some countries are more expensive to travel in).
    The best thing about inter-railing is getting a sleeper train. Use your free days for this. The two big advantages of this is that it saves you the cost of a nights accommodation and you don't waste a day traveling. Instead you set off in the evening and then wake up in another country which you can start exploring almost as soon as you get off the train. So basically you get more days to do stuff other than travel AND save money. Win win!

    Great advice. I am Czech and I would also recommend to choose some reasonably small area to explore.... Like Spain, Portugal.... Croatia, Greece, Montenegro..... Or Czechia, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary....Italy is wonderful and rich for cultural and natural places itself just like France. Europe is too big to try to see everything in few weeks simply.... Scandinavia is completely different and huge for exploration.

    I live in Finland and I think Portugal is a very good place to go. Lots of beautiful and colourful old arcitecture, beaches and the countryside is also very historic for me since I live in a very modern country. Porto for city trip and Alentejo for beaches/nature.

    I think that's the probpem most non-european's have when coming here; they expect to zip all over the continent whilst forgetting that it is rather large. Although the country sizes are small when compared to the likes of the US and Canada, they really add up when you try to get around all of them in one trip, as you pointed out in your video.

    Flying to London mid May. I have booked the first five nights at Mimi’s Soho Hotel in London. The sixth day we go by Euro star to somewhere in Belgium or Amsterdam who knows?! We will do eight days of free independent travel, and I’d like to rent a car for some countryside rides for a few days at least. Then back to London for two days to sort of decompress and relax then fly back to Charlotte home. We have no intention of being in a hurry to do anything.

    If you have mobility problems you will also have to take into account that some of the more older buildings in Europe may not be as wheelchair friendly as they would like to be. Jess it maybe an idea for a future vid about how easy or not getting around Europe is for those in wheelchair

    I'm doing 4 countries staying at least 4 nights each. Central (south?) of Italy (Ischia, Amalfi coast, and rome), Switzerland (Interlaken, Jungfrau region) France (Paris and surrounding areas) and Scotland (Edinburgh and a 5 day trip through the isle of sky and Hebrides islands). The only exception for the 4 night rule is London, where is a weekend trip for us. We had to be picky about our limit of countries and we picked 4, but as a major harry potter fan. I really want to do the harry potter studio tour. So thought maybe see a bit London while we are there, probably the major spots. Unfortunately we only have so much time and London isn't one of our top choices.

      Love and London well, we want to go to about 5 countries but we don't know if the countries should be side by side or what - this will be in a 2 week period.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would try to, picking places that are as close together as possible is ideal, otherwise you'll spend a lot of time and money traveling on trains, planes, etc. 5 countries is a lot for two weeks unless you'll only do one destination per country, but I'd still recommend exploring more of less countries! So, seeing more of just 2 countries during your two weeks instead of hopping around so much. Make sense? Hope that helps :

    One day was enough for each of the 5 countries I visited in Europe. Worked out for me because I was focused in just one city, a solo traveler and I was satisfied without seeing the inside of any amazing structures I came across (plus, you gotta pay extra for those). I don't suggest hopping from one country to another consecutively, however. I'd use an extra day to chill and recharge. Next time I'll try to include a train ride from a country to another.
    Hearings several different foreign languages wasn't an issue, but I sure did miss hearing and speaking English 😂

      Love and London yes! San Francisco is a very busy city so I guess I carry with me the habit of hustling and working with a hectic schedule. Then again, it might just be me who enjoys one activity after the other. Crossing my fingers that the life partner I find is as adventurous as I am and not a slowpoke so my traveling style won't change too much then 😁

    In my most recent trip to Europe, I decided where to go by asking myself, "Where haven't I been?" So it was mostly Scandinavia, the Baltics, parts of Eastern Europe, and the "mini-nations" of Liechtenstein, San Marino, Monaco and Andorra.

    Do you have any suggestions for longer term stays (around 3 months)? I've never been to Europe before and am terrified of making the wrong choice since I plan to stay in each place much longer than just a few nights, to truly experience what it's like, and to get work done. Appreciate any help!!!!

    I'll have 10 days in December to travel in Europe. This is my first time (I'll have spent 5 days in London and a semester in Belfast by the time I get to December). I'm considering spending three nights in Paris, four in Venice, and three in Vienna. Do you think this is too much to pack into ten days?

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Lana! A semester in Belfast-- amazing! Yes, I'd say that's quite alot--- are you flying or taking a train from Paris to Venice? Either way, you'll loose almost a whole day traveling. Can you visit places that are closer together? Also consider that Venice is cold and rainy in December, I also wouldn't say you need more than 2 or 3 days there. Vienna is meant to be beautiful in the winter, and Paris is so massive that you can spend weeks there! Does that help?

      I am from Prague (Prague is nice, but way overpopulated by tourists... like Rome and other touristic places). I would go in your case north south. Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague-Vienna-Budapest(eventually) - then continue to Venice , Florence, Rome, Greece. Switzerland is wonderful , but imho Austria is as wonderful (Alps) and cheaper. Or consider Slovenia Alps (next to Italy). Berlin-Prague-Vienna-Budapest-Venice = all this can be done easily by car or trains with few hours between those cities easily. Not sure about flights to Greece from Italy though, but I think norht->south in general is better way as if anything you will get better weather, which will enhance your mood justby itself :-).

      Paris and Venice are overrated. Choose Kraków, Prague, Vienna and Budapest. If you want to see the works of Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt, go to Krakow, is more romantic and cheaper than in Paris. The leaning tower in Pisa is one big disappointment. If you want to sunbathe on the beach, go to Croatia or Montenegro.

      You can actually combine Greece and Italy because there is a ship from the west part of Greece(Patras, Igoumenitsa, Corfu, and other Ionian islands) going directly in Ancona, Bari, Brindesi and Venice. Also there are a lot of cheap flights (you can sometimes find 20€ one way) from Athens or maybe Thessaloniki to Rome. Trust me, a trip to Italy from Greece is the easiest thing. Just keep in mind that you can't fit everything in a small amount of time💙

    Sounds like see parts of cheaper East Eur. with lots of good quality sites to see is a good bet. See Prague, the mountain lakes in the High Tatras, the Dalmatian coast. Make your overnite stays in E. Europe & slip across the borders to see some stuff in more expensive countries on day trips (eg. it's not far from Bratislava to Vienna or Slovenia to n'ern Italy). If u have lots of $$, then head to pricey Oslo & other Scandinavia, London, Paris, & Swiss cities like Zurich.
