That's the way my vet does it. Through the back, he said it's much easier on them because he doesn't have to cut through all the abdominal muscles. I was going to have Bandit spay because of her ovarian cysts but then she also developed lymph node issues and .... well it never got done. Good luck with the girls, get them eating and they'll be fine
Wow best wishes for their recoveries 🙏 If I had vets in my country that did the flank spay I may consider it but sadly we dont, they only do full spays and they arent experienced even in that so its not an option unless there was a life or death situation. I had a girl with hormonal cysts before but that was treated with hormone injections thankfully

We have a couple of vets doing the flank spay method now and it’s soooo much better for them. I’m glad to see this catching on.
Yes, seems to be much nicer and easier on everyone for being able to keep an eye on the incision without bothering the piggies!
