Welcome. Here see what it’s like on both Q300 and ATR 72-600 Air New Zealand aircraft. Experience a first hand view in both aircraft and I’ll let you choose which you prefer! Enjoy!
Great Comparison! I probably prefer the Q300 over the ATR 72. You just can't beat the sound of the engine on takeoff! You are soo close to 1k subs!!! Congrats in advance! Great video
I would love to go on either but would prefer ATR on longer flights (30 min - 1 hour 30 min). Q300 more for shorter flights (20 min - 1 hour). But wouldn't go on one of these from WLG-INV or TRG-CHC. Just don't like turbo props on very long flights.
Q300, IDK why I just love the small aircraft and the Pratt & Whitney engines taking up almost the whole length of the aircraft, excellent video and thumbnail! LOL the cookie
I fly a lot on the Q300 but the ATR does annoy me by if you get a seat in the front, you’re technically at the back. Though with adjustable tables and reclining seats, the ATR seems more suited for longer flights in my opinion.
Have flown on both on Air NZ regional domestic routes. I got on @ departure airport and go off @ arrival airport, so that's all that matters to me. The ATR WGT-CHC is only about 10 mins longer flight time than flying on a A320. 10 mins..big deal
Loved the Video! I have always loved the Q300, the engines, the landing gear and the appearance in general. However I do think that the ATR is a nice aircraft. But I would have to choose the Q300.
AdandPlanes Finally Made my decision. I have decided the ATR 72-600. I just think it looks cooler and the tray table is adjustable and the seat can recline. Hope you like my Opinion! Mind telling me YOUR opinion?
I appreciate any opinion, even more so if it is backed up with facts like yours! The ATR is a great choice. The interior is more sleek and modern, and the seats are nice too. I am 50/50 on both. I like the littleness if the Q300, as well as the Q300’s ability and comfort. The ATR, as I said, has a more pleasant physical cabin experience. Recliner and tray-tables are great too. One of my main selling points for the ATR is its wind flying capability. While A320s are complete drama queens and Q300s are a bit of a shake, ATRs I’ve taken have landed smoothly and without shaking in up to 90 Kph gusts. Thanks for the comment!
Yea same. I am sorta 50/50. I could change my opinion but right now I 51/49. I change my opinions a lot. My favourite plane is the Concorde. It looks amazing
I have found the atr quite bumpy at times in flight but apart from when it hits a patch it is very smooth but I thought they would get quite bad in a windy landing
Awesome video mate, I was just looking to book a flight from chch to tga in a few months and saw the model numbers were different through out the day so I googled whats the difference and google sent me to this clip. I did notice on anz it did have the exact same travel time even though the q300 is slightly faster on the specs in that magazine you were reading? I have these awesome noise cancelling technics earbuds that completely cuts out noise so thats not an issue for me, I have long legs lol so do you think its probably better to go on the atr for comfort if there's no time advantage with the q300? Thanks again for the clip!
That's an easy pick for me. Dash8 all the way. They are faster and more comfortable. Always on time or ahead of scheduled time. I use to watch 2 airlines one with ATR72 and the other Q300 and over the same 700Km distance the q300 is 15min faster than the ATR72.
ATR for me 2 Flight attendants I feel like the atr has more space and I like the door at the back.9/10 Q300 to small (I wouldn’t mind if AIR New Zealand get a q400 one or two ) one flight attendant the only thing the I would give cridet for is the wheels you can see go up and down 7/10
I think that having both make plane spotting a lot more interesting and would hate to see either go. That being said, I do think the q300 look astheticly better from the outside, due to the perfectly round fuselage, but from a passenger perspective the atr72 is probably better.
No offence to anyone, But the ATR is a pretty silly design, On the ground the cargo and baggage loaders get fumes from the engines blown in their faces when the engines are idling to keep the electrics going, The it’s little low wheels means it pancakes it’s landing as it can’t flare very well. That also means it isn’t very stable on the ground.
@@colinsouthern my bad ATR experience - I was near the back and was hearing two different very loud things that kept harmonising with a sound like a very loud beep. It sounded like someone was using a loud morse code thingy at the back of the plane for the entire trip. It was pretty horrific. Compared to that, moderate engine noise in the Q300 is very nice. :) I have to wear pressure earplugs, so no headphones. I'll take either of these planes over the airbus, love the lower altitudes and nice views :D
LOATH flying in and out of Wellington in these things. Far too unstable. Im yet to encounter a flight where the plane gives out water and cookies plus a lolly. Ive only seen them give out stinking avgas fumes
I'm an ATR lover and always will be
It’s a nice aircraft!
@@AdAndPlanes Ironic profile pic then lol
its an amazing plane
Nice. ATR definitelly.
Thanks! Good choice!
why though?

Thank you very much! It’s getting quite exciting! Q300s sure are excellent!
Yes but many, regular travelers would prefer a much quieter and decent experience in the ATR
I never traveled on both but my mom did.She would always complain about the Q300 noise.Remember her telling me the ATR72-600 being quieter
I would love to go on either but would prefer ATR on longer flights (30 min - 1 hour 30 min). Q300 more for shorter flights (20 min - 1 hour). But wouldn't go on one of these from WLG-INV or TRG-CHC. Just don't like turbo props on very long flights.
I do agree with you. Turboprops on long flights can just get boring and frustrating. For short routes though they are nice to travel on!
Plane Spotting NZ if it gets you to you destination then who cares :/
Long flights? In New Zealand? Get real!
Avgeeks do #Avgeek

Nice choice! I'm trying to respond to all your awesome comments, but there are so many I may miss some! Apologies if I do.
@@AdAndPlanesThanks! I honestly don't mind if you don't, but I like it when you do 🤣

Thanks for that comment! I agree with you when you’re talking about the front-back oddness. Both aircraft have their good bits!
I like both flights for the domestic trips, but I like the outside appearance for ATR72!!!♥😀

I already had the pleasure to fly with both aircraft, InterSky Q300 and Aior Dolomit ATR 72 and I like both of them.
They’re both excellent aircraft. Thank you for your comment!
Sweet comparison video!! Very helpful! Liked!!
Thank you!

Scott Thomson I was equally surprised. Didn’t shake for even a second arriving into Wellington with a 80kph southerly.
Q300 fan for lifeeeeeeeeeee!
Great vid, I went on the ATR 72 last year from Auckland to Napier and back again, was a great flight. Thanks this was a great video keep it up.👍😃
That sounds like a nice flight! Thanks for watching!

So, which plane is better??
Regards to aircraft performance the Q300 is a bit more capable, but the interior of the ATR 72 is better.
Thank for your opinion!
Both aircraft seem really nice mate. Great work. I think I'm going for the Q400. Really appreciate large tray tables haha
Both are great! Thanks very much. Always love the large tables!
Q300!
Its not a q400 its a q300
Awesome video 100th like!!
I see you landed in wellington on the last vid am I correct?

Thanks for your opinion! I doubt they’ll get the Q400 as it’ll conflict with their ATR sized aircraft, but would love to see it!
Hello again! Would you care if I did the same on my channel just cause this is really cool comparing with the ATR & The Q300

Me agree
300 for sure
I am 50/50 as both have advantages
Agreed!
ATR!
Noooooooo
Great video, I prefer the ATR's but it seems the Q300's probably have better features then the ATR's
Great
Thank you!
ATR for life fam.
ATR cause its more quite than the q300.
@@colinsouthern cheers for the correcting that mistake.
I had a terrible noisy trip on an ATR, and nice quiet trips on the Q300. Perhaps I was just in a bad seat in the ATR though?
