I'm sorry, but I have speak up. No doubt Welch helped shape the band's sounds, but he went down a different road with Heroes Are Hard to Find and not for the better. The album didn't have that lead guitar sting FM was famous for. I thought Christine saved the record with some of her soft ballads she was famous for. Bob sounded tired and dull. Music is subjective so it's just my opinion, but there is no denying the man who was responsible for shaping the band's new sound was Danny Kirwan. Go back to 1970 with Kiln house and listen to Jewel Eyed Judy and Station Man. Danny led FM out of the blues. I disagree with Mr. Norman and his assertion it was Welch who pushed the band towards POP mainstream in 71-72. Danny wrote and produced nine songs from Future Games and Bare Trees if you include Trinity. Bob wrote and produced four. Danny's impact was much greater than Bob's by a long shot. Bob Welch was not a member of Fleetwood Mac in its "earliest days," a blues turned blues-rock band, which formed in 1967. Welch joined the band in 1971, replacing Jeremy Spencer and having lost Peter Green earlier, both due to unfortunate reasons. Welch was a major contributor to what's referred to as Fleetwood Mac's "transitional era," a hard turn to pop, before the Rhiannon era with Nicks and Buckingham.
At the beginning they said he wasn't, then towards the end they said he was a drummer and he was one of the original members. Now out of how many members are or were there total? Considering they're still together he is more an original member then say who is a newer member now lol? Idk 🤪
Bob didn't care for Bare Trees. He thought the music was bleak and attributed it to Danny's angst in his writing. Sounds awfully bitter to me. Child of Mine discusses Danny's father, but it's a kick a$$ tune. Danny's Chant bleak? Bare Trees? Sunny Side of Heaven? Bob must be referring to Dust, but Danny didn't write the song. He arranged the tune and turned out to be one of Danny's finer moments. Perhaps it was because Danny contributed 5 songs, while Bob had only two. Yea, that makes more sense. @@sturs100
Bob Welch along with Jethro Tull's Glenn Cornick and the Nazz' Thom Mooney, made a fantastic hard rock album under the band name Paris in 1974, with a followup in 75 which contained the Sales brothers who would go on to form Bowie's Tin Machine...
I never knew bw was a member of Fleetwood Mac and I never knew he committed suicide. Tragic. Rest in peace Bob. Condolences to family and friends as well as aquaintenances.
Fleetwood Mac never even acknowledged him at their RRHOF induction, much less invite him. Bob was key in helping transition Fleetwood Mac from the all blues band they started out as to the super successful commercial group they would become in the seventies.
This was a poor video with lots of inaccuracies. Bob Welch was not an original member, not even close, and the video refers to Peter Green is the group's original drummer.
Bob said he was the one that inspired Fleetwood Mac to move to Los Angeles, where they met Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. I still can't understand why he didn't get into the HOF with Fleetwood Mac.

I had a Bob Welch album featuring Sentimental Lady in the 80"s I even played the song while Djing on a college radio station about 1986. I'm just now learning he was a member of Fleetwood Mac.
I love Bob Welch but as you mentioned in the video I wasn't aware of him being in Fleetwood Mac. I loved his solo work and of course found out he was a former member of FM. Hypnotized, Hot Love Cold World are two of my favorites. I think he could have done more music if he just would have given himself some more time. He must have been so tortured inside to check out by his own doing. Another big loss to the music world. I hope he's resting easy now.
I actually like the years he was with FM. Has a distinct voice. Also when Danny Kirwan and Christine Mcvie had a couple of good albums with the band after Green left.
A very interesting overview. I counted SEVERAL errors in the information given though. Some were SO obvious too. You'd think that the folks producing such a video would get the facts right! Imagine what people would say if a band ... like Fleetwood Mac ... had this amount of glaring errors in their music !!! We should have an "error count" for the fun of it and see exactly how many there are on here!!!!!!
I have always loved Bobs music and I still watch his videos today on You Tube. Those best of the best songs stay with you forever!!!! It's sad when it's over and we want life to go on with certain people in certain ways, but I was sad to hear about his passing and Christies in Fleetwood mac and the other ones that have passed I have always loved Fleetwood Mac!!!
As many have said the first 6 minutes were not about Bob. But he ends it on a ? No. He left fMac and did quite well. I didn't know about early days and the bottle. But I did read of his heroin trubs later on. I knew a guy a lot like him also in the biz. And both had serious addictive personalities and they needed attention. Sad of course. I am totally against his suicide as I am an extreme chronic pain sufferer. You gotz to count your blessings man. I can only stand for a couple of minutes. Still, it's something. His solo songs, Hypnotized especially for me and Sentimental Lady wowed the ladies. I knew many women who loved that. How Mick and Stevie are still around only God knows. But $$ does help when you're a mess. It buys you time and help. Thanks for the tunes Bob.
I feel he should have stayed with Fleetwood Mac but as a solo artist he will always be more remembered. Sentimental Lady I have often heard but never knew who sang it. RIP Bob Welch
I bought his album my last high school year loved the 2 big hits Sentimental lady an Ebony eyes. Close to same time the new Fleetwood Mac after bob went solo opened a dream come true for Stevie Knicks an Lindsey Buckingham .With the still top ten all time album Rumours... Im sure back pain had a lot to do with his end... Prayer's.....
I read , he walked off the stage and quit right then . That's when Mick Fleetwood went searching and found Lindsay Buckingham, they only took Stevie because they would not get Lindsay Buckingham with out her .
All I know is I like Bob and I love the song Ebony Eyes it's one of my all-time favorite songs hey most everybody from our era knows who he is I was born in 65 in junior high we played the hell out of his music and in high school and 2022 I do now
I lost count of the number of factual errors about half way through. It's a rather confused account of the history of Fleetwood Mac; Bob Welch was not a founding member and his involvement in/with the group did not coincide with either of its two discrete successful periods.
Yes, there are several factual errors in this clip. No, that was not a photo of Stevie Nicks with George Harrison. George Harrison's first wife (and later wife and ex-wife of Eric Clapton) Patty Boyd and Mick Fleetwood's first wife Jenny Boyd are sisters. Basically, for a short while Mick Fleetwood was an in-law to George Harrison and Eric Clapton shortly thereafter.
I became a Fleetwood mac Fan in 1971 Future games , Bare Trees, Penquin Mystery to me , and Heros are hard to find Are my very favorite albums , Due to Bob Welches songs Mainly. I bought Both Paris albums , and all his solo albums , Loved his Guitar and writing style and voice !!! Silver heels is one of my favorites from The FM heroes album !
It's very difficult for people who work in bands to avoid addiction to tobacco, alcohol and drugs=legal/illegal. Why? Bars. They make you, the artist, push what they serve, on their fans: alcohol. Bars sold and continue to sell so much junk to push on their customers, in addition to alcohol. They became very unhealthy venues to work in. Also, sports arenas and stadiums. How odd as they initially served to host sporting events, that are supposed to be healthy, right? Tobacco smoke was everywhere inside until the Clean Indoor Act, pushed on the public in every venue where you could smoke. Dr. Sigmund Freud was one of the biggest pushers of tobacco, and was so addicted he couldn't quit even after having over thirty cancer surgeries....that failed to protect him. All this garbage was broadcast on TV, radio, in schools, hospitals, you name it. Then you have the street drug crowd waiting to hook you up with the next illegal drug. It's easy to blame the victims. RIP, Bob Welch. One of my favorite songs of yours was Bright Fire. ☀🌟☀🌟🔥🔥🔥🔥🌈❣💞💓💖💗
Bob's problems with substance abuse and alcohol abuse did him in not the music industry if he lived clean and sober he may have went further in his career 😳 and had better success 👍and it's possible he would be alive today 😅
It's obvious the person that made this video didn't looking Bob's recordings, because there is little mention of them. Bob was a great song writer, singer, and guitarist. I followed him when he was in Fleetwood Mac and loved his solo albums.
Bob Welch was NOT a founding member of Fleetwood Mac. The band started in 1967... Bob Welch didn't come on board until 1971.. and stayed until the end of 1974.. having recorded 5 albums with the band.
Who do you make a video about the band and NOT know Peter Green was the guitarist? Also, the subject of the video WAS NOT a founding member. The band had been successful with Peter Green until he lost it and left. That was at least a couple years into the group. Lindsey was asked to join and he insisted on Stevie joining. You act like they heard the Buckingham Nicks album and hired them duo. This is a mess
This video does a good job of covering Bob’s background. I was in high school when he had the three hits in 1978-79 (Sentimental Lady,Ebony Eyes and Precious Love). Unfortunately yet another sad ending to a once successful performer and musician. May he RIP.
I saw two shows with Bob leading FM He was a great song writer Penguin, Mystery to Me they are great albums. When I heard Bob shot himself it was sad. Money and age collide. I’m guessing that’s what happened with Kieth Emerson. Being an artist is hard I wish Bob was still around he really was a great songwriter
I cannot believe all the inaccuracies in this video. Do you guys do ANY research or do you just throw darts at copies of Rolling Stone? Facts Verse my ass!
I've Always Heard That The Other Band Members Kept Bob Out Of The Hall Of Fame Would Like To Know The Truth. Peter Green Was Great And Most People Don't Even Know Who He Is Unless You Love Blues Music.
It seems the band that became the one we grew to love was a destiny set up by the departure of Bob Welch. So we can not know what would have been nor if it would or would not be appreciated as much as the band we know.
So your "Facts Verse" version opens that Welch helped "create the band?" That is DEMONSTRABLY FALSE to anyone remotely with Peter Green, the band's original front man and guitarist, fresh from a stint with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, had formed the band in the summer of 1967. Welch didn't join what remained of the band until after Peter Green's and Jeremy Spencer's departure, and Fleetwood and McVie (w/Christine Perfect, who became McVie) moved to Laurel Canyon in the early 1971. And the photo of Nicks w/George Harrison while mentioning Jenny Boyd seems inappropriate, at best. Holy sh!t, you couldn't be more wrong about Welch's relationship with the band, aside from the fact that he had one as a guitarist and lead singer with an American iteration of the band in the early 1970's.
@carolinewoodward1016 Jenny was involved with Mick Fleetwood, as they were a well-known couple in rock lore. Clapton, who famously wrote 'Layla' for Patty Harrison, finally overcame his lengthy heroin addiction and lured Patty away from an increasingly-isolated Harrison in the mid-70's, and Patty had nothing at all to do with Fleetwood Mac, aside from the fact that her sister Jenny became involved with Mick Fleetwood. The photo of George was with Nicks. I should be making these videos, if for nothing else than to set records straight. 🤣
Facts Verse? What facts? Folks who are ignorant shouldn't claim to be experts. Bob Welch did NOT "help start the band". Peter Green was NOT the drummer. That's 2 NON facts in the 1st minute of the vid

@@ronprice3450 that is a great album
Peter the drummer? Try again.
We said the same thing.
Exactly, the original & only drummer Fleetwood Mac has ever had is Mick Fleetwood.
@@jwwj30 christ, his sirname is in the freaking band name...
Someone’s choices are not to be judged by others.
My first FM album was Mystery to me, to this day it's still my fav of all their albums.
Awesome album
Bob Welch was not a original member, he was on Future Games a new direction, and a great album 👍
Don't forget Bare trees.
@@sturs100
Stevie joined Bob’s group on stage several times.
I saw a New Years concert with Bob Welch and Fleetwood Mac I do remember him singing Black Magic Woman quite well
Bob Welch along with Jethro Tull's Glenn Cornick and the Nazz' Thom Mooney, made a fantastic hard rock album under the band name Paris in 1974, with a followup in 75 which contained the Sales brothers who would go on to form Bowie's Tin Machine...
Tony Sales wasn't in Paris, brother Hunt was
Stevie was never married to Lindsey.
Precious love , ebony eyes. Big hits from Bob
Rest in peace 🙏🕊️🕊️
Such a talent
This was a poor video with lots of inaccuracies. Bob Welch was not an original member, not even close, and the video refers to Peter Green is the group's original drummer.
Bob said he was the one that inspired Fleetwood Mac to move to Los Angeles, where they met Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. I still can't understand why he didn't get into the HOF with Fleetwood Mac.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing this info about Bob and FM! Which FM song is the most memorable for you?
@@FactsVerse: The Bob Welch version of "Sentimental Lady" just may be my favorite song of all time. There's something about it that moves me in a way that other songs don't. It casts a spell on me each time I hear it, taking me to another realm, and making me want to be a better man, so it has a magical quality as well.
I was too young at the time to enjoy what he had to offer, but as I look back, seems he had a wonderful voice and was a caring person! Some people, I wish wouldn't have leave!
Rip bob Welch
Peter Green was a guitarist, NOT the drummer - that would be Mick Fleetwood. Lindsey and Stevie were never married, so they couldn't get divorced. Bob Welch was not an original member.

Check out the song Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac, that's Bob Welch
I actually like the years he was with FM. Has a distinct voice. Also when Danny Kirwan and Christine Mcvie had a couple of good albums with the band after Green left.
My favorite albums of Fleetwood Mac is with Bob Welch an amazing artist .
So sorry to hear that! They were and still are my favs.
Yea I love them!
I met Bob backstage at a Van Halen concert in Phoenix, told him how much I loved his song "Hypnotized".
Glad to know that you're a fan of Bob as we are too. What other types of video would you like to see?
I never liked Fleetwood Mac but I did like Bob Welches solo music. He was way better then them. He had a nice voice.
Here's what I think..this video would be better if you focused more on Bob Welch and some of his music/songs rather than a dry overview of the band.
He was a great man and I miss him a lot.
Never heard of him. RIP
Of course you don’t you know why because you let that spoiled brat Steve nicks control your mind
I thought FM offered Lindsey and he said not without Stevie.
Hypnotized
Great writer.
No one bothered to intervene on Bob's behalf.
I feel he should have stayed with Fleetwood Mac but as a solo artist he will always be more remembered. Sentimental Lady I have often heard but never knew who sang it. RIP Bob Welch
He also sang it on the Fleetwood Mac LP Bare Trees, earlier release.
To me?! It sounds like he made a choice that prolonged his life. RIP Bob
Wrong! Bob Welch was certainly NOT a founding member of Fleetwood Mac.
Having gone through cancer I know how Bob Welch felt and understand why did this.
I read , he walked off the stage and quit right then . That's when Mick Fleetwood went searching and found Lindsay Buckingham, they only took Stevie because they would not get Lindsay Buckingham with out her .
All I know is I like Bob and I love the song Ebony Eyes it's one of my all-time favorite songs hey most everybody from our era knows who he is I was born in 65 in junior high we played the hell out of his music and in high school and 2022 I do now
When they were talking about Bob Weston they showed a picture of Stevie Nicks and George Harrison
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
Hypnotized is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song.
Thank you for sharing your favorite Fleetwood Mac song. Which comes in at second place?
@@FactsVerse My second favorite Fleetwood Mac song is Tusk, with the USC Marching Band.
What a time to be alive. I wish i had a time machine 😞😞😞😞😞
you do its called youtube
A great singer and writer and guitar player so sorry😔😪rip 🙏❤
I remember being so angry when I heard the news; I remember only 3 weeks before his passing, commenting on something Bob said.
Peter was NEVER the drummer, he's a singer songwriter guitarist
R.I.P. Bob. Hypnotized is Fleetwood Mac's best song before they turned into a second rate, attitude filled soap opera of mediocre Top 40 pop.
If You Like Pop Music Peter Green Was The Most Talented.
That Didn't Sound Right Bob Was Pop Peter The Best White Blues Man Ever.
More research should have been done on this video. For one thing, Peter Green is one of the more famous guitar players, not a drummer.
Terrible video
Facts Verse doesn't do any real research. They distort history. It's a shame.
This video is so full of mistakes, it’s an insult to Welch’s memory
May he RIP.
I saw two shows with Bob leading FM
He was a great song writer
Penguin, Mystery to Me they are great albums.
When I heard Bob shot himself it was sad.
Money and age collide.
I’m guessing that’s what happened with Kieth Emerson.
Being an artist is hard I wish Bob was still around he really was a great songwriter
Having battled cancer for 3 years, I understand Mr. Welch’s decision to unlive himself.
Thanks for watching! We're glad to know that you love our video. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
I cannot believe all the inaccuracies in this video. Do you guys do ANY research or do you just throw darts at copies of Rolling Stone? Facts Verse my ass!
To bad he chose suicide, which is never the answer and does not relieve your loved ones of anything, but adds enormously to there suffering.
I was interested until you said Stevie and Buckingham divorced. Interesting as they weren't married to each other.
He did a interesting song about the Bermuda Triangle 🔺️
Hypnotized
@@ronprice3450 NO,it was called Bermuda Triangle ..Hypnotized is about UFO's
His album "French Kiss" is quite good. "Three Hearts" had a number of good songs. His death is very sad for everyone.
I know his plight well. Its unfortunate but I dont blame him. Going down a road like his and I'm not going to be a burden to anyone either 😔
Beautiful Voice! 😊💖🙏
I've Always Heard That The Other Band Members Kept Bob Out Of The Hall Of Fame Would Like To Know The Truth. Peter Green Was Great And Most People Don't Even Know Who He Is Unless You Love Blues Music.
I would also like to know the truth. Still can’t believe he was not inducted as part of the band.
He should have been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac!
I'm 57… been in conrtant pain since 16… suck it up and move on folks… too many special moments come in our lives to piss it away on suicide…
@carolinewoodward1016 one adapts… gets used to the level as normal… :/
God bless him but how did Bob Welch help create the band being that he's not an original member?
Rip bob
I wanted to hear about Bob Welch and His songs, how Fleetwood Mac kept him out of the Hall of Fame, as he carried Fleetwood Mac for many years.
Long time fan I love ❤ this.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! What is your most memorable Fleetwood Mac song?
He had 2 great songs that I put against any others with Ebony Eyes, and Sentimental Lady, both were classics.
watching here from philippines
Facts Verse? What facts? Folks who are ignorant shouldn't claim to be experts. Bob Welch did NOT "help start the band". Peter Green was NOT the drummer. That's 2 NON facts in the 1st minute of the vid
