I saw the Violinaires when I was a little girl. I remember 'lil shot' holding a note so long I thought he would pass out at the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, Ga. Their sound is unmatchable. I'm now 48 and find myself going back and listening to songs my father played in my youth.

I heard the Violinaires in West Columbia,TX round about this same time of year(72) being in 4th grade!!! I am 54 now. These boys were untouchable and shut the place down with their electrifying background.ROBERT BLAIR was a Beast himself!!!!

Listen to them. They are too much. Soooooo talented, all the groups back then could just sing. Think about it no formal voice training, no mic tuning, and they sang Monday thru Friday twice on Sunday. Sometimes not eating or sleeping properly. What's wrong today? And they make good money these days.

My name is Mack Smith and I live in Las Vegas, NV. Back in Louisiana in 1972, The group I was singing with was called The Golden Tones out of Alexandria, Louisiana where the Violinaires was singingat Peabody High School. We opened the Program for them along with Soul Stirrers, Mighty Clouds and others. It was a wonderful event. I will never forget this event. Fantasic group. Love them.

No, we never did. Had a TV show on Sunday mornings for about 10 months. The local station. I left the group and enlisted in to the U.S. Air Force for twenty 20's. I went to see The Mighty Clouds of Joy in 1978 at Ramstein AB, Germany. Met some family members of one Blind boys of Alabama. Got back into singing within the last 2 years here in Las Vegas, NV.

The reason why it is so urgent is because my dad's 54th Birthday is on December 9th which is coming up fast. Me ,my mother and sister where really trying to put together an amazing playlist to burn on a disc for his car where he loves to blast his all time favorites (he is kind of old school lol). We've got most the songs we wanted to add but just can't get our hands on like I said the Funkyer verision of old time religion, and two other songs, Do you know him, and where you there all by the Vioilnaires. I have been doing More research and I found 3 different verison other than the 1966 one. There's a 1974 verison from the album You can all join in, There is a checkers vinyl of one, and the one I am banking on is the 1969 verison from the ablum God's Creation I think it is this one because when i was looking at the tracklist it also had a song named "Do You Know Him" which made me super excited. But the thing is I can't get a sound byte of either one and my dad dose not know what ablum it came from because back when he first heard it it was on a casset that his friend had. That he didnt know much about So we are in a bit of a situation. I am Certiantly not the detective type but you seem like you know how to and find the rare rich deep gosple Sound lol. Both volumes 1 & 2 were hard to find even back in 1990. You might get lucky with eBay, Discogs or a Japanese CD store. (In case you haven't seen them. I also uploaded the Swan Silvertones and Soul Stirrers performances.)

Yes I saw them. Those 3 posts made me subscribe to your channel. Please upload Clarence Fountain and rest of the cd too when you get a chance.

All I want to know is, why is willie Neal Johnson and Paul Beasley pictured on this song, that is not the keynotes singing this song!!!! It's the Violinaires, Robert Blair and the Violinaires!!!

Of course - there's a Violinaires photo there too. The WNJ/PB photo was part of the channel design until 2017, when it was replaced. I hope you enjoyed the great music.

Yes, sir - I know about your long career with the group - thank you for all the great music. Do you remember when you started recording with the Violinaires? I know you're on the "Born Again" LP from 1981 but were you on any earlier records?

There isn't an original Violinaires in non of these so called Violinaires. The originals that's alive, Cleo Tilmon, Jim Byers, Leo Coney and Elcannon Debose, all others that are still singing are FAKE but they are great pretenders!! The previous names recorded and travelled with the Gospel Classics along with Johnny Moore still alive, deceased Wilson Whitt Deshields Melvin Reed, Cassley Sullen

Jardi I saw the Violinaires in the sixties when Blair sang with some of the Gentleman that you mentioned in your comments I also saw the Violinaires in the eighties when he had different members so if they sang with Blair how can you call them pretenders they are carrying on the legacy of this great group

So called huh?? I sung with Blair from 1979 ,until the time of death, and he was delighted with me, Robert, David, Tito !!! Shot had a fit the first time he heard me, as did all the other Violinaires! Since you like originals, let me ask you this??? Do you drive a 1968 or do you have a later model? Do you still have to go outside at 4AM in the morning to use the bathroom?? Do you still draw water out of a well??? That was original!!!!!!!!!!

Doc it’s very obvious that you know nothing about the Violinaires, the original members you named had left the group and Blair brought in Danny,Robert Arrington , Frank Thompson,David Battle, Tito. All of the members that still singing with the Violinaires are members that sung with Blair since the late 70’s all the way up to Blair’s death, and then after Blair passed. Charlie Brown who was with the Violinaires off and on since 1969 up until his death in 2013. After Blair died Tito, Danny,David, Frank, Charlie, they kept the group going as a request Blair made to Danny and Danny did what was asked of him and he kept the group going. Nobody in the Violinaires are great pretenders they are men that have sung along Blair and they are keeping the Violinaire legacy alive.
