  • Welcome to this English lesson about mishaps! I hope you have taken the time to learn how to talk about mishaps. In this free English class I'll help you learn some words and phrases that you can use to talk about mishaps. Mishaps are little accidents, little things that go wrong, or very minor injuries.
    In this English lesson I'm going to help you learn about what are called minor mishaps. These are little things that happen to you that aren't very nice. I'm not going to help you learn about major mishaps. I'll save that for a future English lesson!
    In this session you'll learn English words and phrases like: grass stain, gust, ding, splinter, heat stroke, sting, bite, bruise, sudden downpour, fender bender, dehydration, slip, trip, scrape, stub, sliver, overexertion, and more!
    I hope you enjoy this free English class about mishaps! Have a great day!
    ⌛ Remember: Always watch the video three times. Twice today with English subtitles on, and once tomorrow with the English subtitles off. This will reinforce the English you have learned!

    Dear Bob, I have to tell you my today's story. Just as I was listening to your lesson about mishaps as a podcast on my mobile I wanted to get on my bicycle. The phone was in my pocket but it fell on the pavement as I lifted one of my legs to get on the bike. I started laughing but I wasn't happy at all. Fortunately only the screensaver foil got ruined and the screen remained intact. It was a real serendipity, just when you talked about a "stone hitting your windshield". It is a bit annoying but it was totally my fault. I always use the time to listen to podcasts while I cycle to work. Have a nice day. Szilvia from Hungary

    Hi, Bob! Today my day happened without any mishaps. Though during my life I managed to experience all the mishaps mentioned here! English is like an ocean and without your lessons it would be more difficult for me to learn it. I mean it. Thank you, Bob, for this another useful lesson!

    Why are two letters, I mean, "SH" inside the word "mishap" pronounced separately and not together like for instance "SHape"? Dear teacher or someone wisest can explain about it?🤔

    • @PhuongThanh-qp4gf
      @PhuongThanh-qp4gf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it is mis and hap put together. “ Mis” is a prefix for sth wrong and “hap” is for happening. That means like a bad happening…I don’t know if I am right or wrong but it’s how I try to memorize this new word for me😀
