Here is my homage to the iconic Walking with Dinosaurs series! So much has improved in paleontology throughout these two decades, so many of the animals you see in this video might not seem to have had their place in the original BBC tv show. Dakotadon as the ¨American Iguanodon¨ or Australovenator as the ¨Polar Allosaurus¨are two of them. but can you relate the rest with their counterparts? As always please give this video a LIKE, subscribe for more and click they bell so you don't miss it! those little gestures help the channel. You can also join the Membership if you want to support the channel further. Thank you all! ps: I'm simultaneously still working of the ¨Antediluvian project¨ (you can take a little sneak peek in the intro) so it took a little longer to finish
Walking with Dinosaurs was actually my favourite documentary when I was small and it still is to this day. Even if the original dinosaur designs seem a bit out of date at this time, the entire docu itself tells a story of events that feel so natural on how these magnificent beings once roamed our land, it's just pure perfection I dare say it.
Agreed, Walking With Dinosaurs was definitely a classic and Prehistoric Planet may have more obscure dinosaurs and more beautiful visuals, no documentary will ever capture the charm WWD had
@@lynxfresh5214he Ballad of Big Al is so tragically well done. It shows us that even predators were victims during their time, which was also shown in Death of a Dynasty, though I think BoBA was just slightly better for me.
Love it! Especially love how you had the pliosaurus come right after the eustreptospondylus, referencing one of the best scenes from the original documentary.
Oh wow Koolasuchus is a lot bigger that I had thought. Great work! I love that some of the designs seem to incorporate the colors/patterns of the original while still being updated.
I can't wait to see your "Crystal Jurassic park", to see your ¨Antediluvian dinosaurs¨. it saddens me a little to think of all the modern corrections to "Walking with Dinosaurs" for example: postosuchus was not quadrupedal but bipedal, that anatotitan was a "nickname" for Edmontosaurus, that Cryptoclidus did not "rest"at the beach like the seals , that Liopleurodon was actually "only" 6 meters long and that Ornithocheirus was actually the Tropeognathus.
I absolutely love that! Many of your animals you haven't updated in a while got splendid redraws, and I love your take on many of the designs! And of course, the brilliant animated segment at the end, among your best videos to date, good job!
0:25 I have a problem with the lungfish's classification. Sarcopterygii is no longer considered a class but rather an unranked clade, because the traditional Sarcopterygii is paraphyletic, and modern taxonomists want to keep taxa as monophyletic. So now Dipnoi (which was previously treated as a subclass, and the scientific name for all lungfish), is now considered as a full blown class. The same thing happened with the coelacanth group called Actinistia, which has been reranked to class and not subclass.
Thank you for the homage & the updated reconstructions! The track that you chose for the Intro: I used to hum that tune to myself when I was younger -- the theme to Springtime when Antarctica was lush. So I also appreciate that spark of nostalgia.
Me encantaron todos tus diseños pero lo que mas me sorprendió fue la entrevista con el "actor" al final 😂. Saludos y abrazos y segui asi porque tu paleoarte es increible.
I can't help but think, well to be honest have not stopped thinking since watching the closing credits of the making of, that we need a second Walking with Dinosaurs! I've heard Prehistoric planet touted as its spiritual sequel, but to me its apples and oranges, prehistoric planet is awesome but it's set up much differently- like a planet earth documentary and it does this excellently. I really loved the full episode focus on each ecosystem and a story within that, in a series set throughout the mesozoic. Along with those immersive moments where the camera was moving between the trees, etc to better capture the action, or avoid getting tangled up in it. Really gives you the sense you're walking with dinosaurs when the cameraman is ducking behind some branches to avoid getting caught up in some tyrannosaur domestic.
I remember about the last episode I was laughing because saw the tiny Tyrannosaurus go fly away then realize...that was their last time...for watching the world...
I like the way you editted in the pliosaurus coming after the eustreptospondylus like the begginning of cruel sea. Nice touch. Also was it just me or was the celophysis and some of the other animals colour scheme similar. :)
your videos are great, and the art is amazing! you include so many lesser-known dinosaurs and archosaurs in your videos. I am really looking forward to your next video, really great work!!!
I know Walking with Dinosaurs will never return, but I hope we get a series with a similar premise and good visuals in the future. Prehistoric Planet is great, but not quite the same as WWD. Loved the video, the Pliosaurus coming after the Eustreptospondylus referencing the famous opening scene of Cruel Sea and the accurate depiction of the Utahraptor complaining about the animators from the making-of were absolutely wonderful. Hope at some point you get to do the same with the rest of the franchise.
That was a Nostalgia Overload, an Updated Nostalgia Overload, this was Super Outstanding, WWD really Deserves this Loving Tribute, and as well as Some Amazing Updates on the Creatures, I wouldn't mind a Remake of WWD Tbh, or a Dinosaur Documentary with a similar Oof to it, some folks could say, what about Prehistoric Planet? Well, Prehistoric Planet is doing it's Own Thing, it's very different to WWD, Which is a Good Thing, and like WWD, it has Both its Strengths and Weaknesses like any Show/ Documentary, Furthermore I'm looking to what These Future Prehistoric Docs like Life on Our Planet, Surviving Earth and Forgotten Bloodlines: Agate (Narrated by Nigel Marven), that will hopefully do their Own Thing as well as Capture some Essence on what Made WWD and PP as Special as they were.
Walking With Dinosaurs (1999) is the primary reason I became a palaeontologist. It wasn't just that, but it was the focusing lens and golden time, so to speak, which encapsulated all of my Dinosaur and other prehistory enthusiasm in the 1990's. There were, of course, other things - like Jurassic Park and The Land Before Time, and all sorts of standalone documentaries and other series. But Walking With Dinosaurs was what completely stole the show for me. It's professional attempts to recreate lost worlds, with the glory of the natural history drama, trying it's best. Yes, it's heavily out of date now on the science and was wrong on a lot even back then. All the same, it spurred on the conversation about how these programmes are even made and it was incredible. I have long meant to make a granular, in-depth review of WWD and the rest of the Walking With... series. I've been drafting my version of Walking With Dinosaurs II for a few years at this point. I've been trying my level best to do that solo and it is genuinely very difficult and involves a huge amount of research and reading. But I'm slowly working my way through the long list of episode titles I have made for it. I hope I finish it before I'm too old.
Increíble! La verdad te quedaron espectaculares las reconstrucciones realistas de uno de los documentales más iconicos, me gustaron los nuevos diseños de dinosaurios que ya hiciste anteriormente y ese final ni te digo. En fin, todo me encantó. Saludos!
But... What with: Ballad of Big Al, Chased by Dinosaurs (it had Walking with Dinosaurs special in logo name), Sea Monsters and Walking with Cavemen? Do You think that there no exist? Really? Or forgot about them?
The music used in this video is “Antarctic Spring”, idk what the intro song is Edit: okay the intro song is also Antarctic Spring but a different part of it
Dude this idea and concept is amazing! I’ve literally been thinking what if somebody modernized the Walking with series… I would kill for another walking with series doc in modern times with the same dinosaur models and colors
I love prehistoric planet but it seems like it just makes us want that series and the walking with series to return at the same time as well. You can never have too many good modern dinosaur documentaries at the same time
Oh look the iconic 1999 documentary Walking with dinosaurs from tim haines also did Beasts And monsters with Loch primeval now Doing surviving earth by 2024.
Im very thank You Bro for Your great art work and all the videos. Im drawin paleos like You, but You doing a very GREAT, GREAT THING. Im always waiting whats next. Thank You.
This is amazing! Love how you updated the designs thanks to using the scientific research today. Makes a huge difference! I wonder if you could go others in the future like Prehistoric Park, Planet Dinosaur, or Dinosaur Planet? Just a few ideas, but I’ll leave that up to you. Keep up the good work ^
I have an insane suggestion: Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal size comparison and data, but in your style. So basically all of the wacky beasts and creatures from primal but paleo accurate lookinf
Great work as usual. I would love to see one of these for Prehistoric Park (since it was the thing which cemented my love of prehistory, and still holds up as a show to this day IMO), and possibly the rest of the Nigel Marven spinoffs as well (Giant Claw, Land of The Giants and Sea Monsters). Or Primeval, as I would also love to see what you do with the speculative creatures of that gem.

Hey Mario, Will you do a Prehistoric Planet Season 2 size comparison?
I FINALLY GOT TO SEE A........i forgot what i was gonna say
makes with dinosaur revolution
Great work recreating the post credit scene of the talking utahraptor In the behind the scenes video!🚬🦖🪑🤣
So, the "Cruel Sea" Liopleurodon is actually a pliosaurus?

Agreed plus it introduced me to one of my favourite dinos (Allosaurus) also a fellow Mario watcher? Nice!
Agreed, Walking With Dinosaurs was definitely a classic and Prehistoric Planet may have more obscure dinosaurs and more beautiful visuals, no documentary will ever capture the charm WWD had
It was my favorite by far, but now my top1 is Prehistoric Planet season 1.
@@Lalaloopsies_UnitedExactly. I dare say not even Prehistoric Planet. But hey, at least PsP was actually being its own distinct thing from WwD.
@@lynxfresh5214he Ballad of Big Al is so tragically well done. It shows us that even predators were victims during their time, which was also shown in Death of a Dynasty, though I think BoBA was just slightly better for me.
This show made so many kids start loving dinosaurs, including myself. I love this, even with the inaccuracies.
Same. Everything about it just feels so perfect and natural, that sense of impending doom just gives me chills every time, even to this day.

OK, did anyone else jump with fear when the Pliosaurus appeared SO SUDDENLY! 😱 A truly masterful work! ❤
It's such a perfectly up to date homage to that one scene in Cruel Sea...
No
No, because we're adults lol was cool though
Shouldn't it have been Liopleurodon?
It was perfect! Although, I had to lol a bit when the actual size of the Liopleurodon showed up. 🤭

Just the head is bigger 😂
Liopleurodon was the best plesiosaurid EVER!!!!!!!!!

I like the pliosaurus ambushing the eustreptospondylus a reference to the Cruel Seas episode.
