Ranging from luxurious four-door sedans to some unconventional but surprisingly high-performing SUVs, these cars are true definitions of the saying ‘the looks can be deceiving’.
This all depends on personal criteria, is good to know that you have a different opinion. Which cars do you think we should have mentioned? Let us know!
@USAutoLegacy You named multiple examples that wear all their most aggressive appearance packages. They visibly tell everyone, "I'm fast." It's not like they're wearing dull paint colors and wheel covers and basic trim. Maybe...MAYBE the '97 Olds 88 LSS was a sleeper. Even that had a spoiler and other tells that showed it wasn't the base model. "Sleeper" is a term auto fans use, and auto fans know all these models.
@@doug6191 if it's fast and blends in with normal traffic, it's a sleeper, even if it has anything like a wing or a splitter as long as it still looks like an average Joe will drive, it's a sleeper
You could argue than the Lamborghini LM002 (1986) was the pioneer in the high performance SUVs, with his 5.2 V12 engine... BTW you missed to say than the Lotus Carlton was based in the Omega (looks are almost the same), Opel/Vauxhall flagship model, and quite a few Omegas were sold in Europe, making the Carlton a true sleeper. You missed the Volvo V70 R, a wagon with a 2.5L turbo engine which produced 250 HP and made the 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.
@@Concordfan443 Try to find a cheap Lotus Carlton... Prices go from 40k to 120k, depending on the condition. Audi RS2 aren't cheap neither, finding one below 30k is difficult, and it's almost guaranteed to requiere a engine rebuild.
@@p.informatico1320 what does price have to do with status as sleeper? I agree with OP. All these cars were famously fast, halo versions of the models. With things like body kits, top of the line engines and options everyone knew what you had. Opposite of sleeper.
1:47 There was nobody who considered the Typhoon a sleeper. Nope.
2:46 There was nobody who considered the gen 2 Lightning a sleeper. Nope.
1:04 - There was nobody who considered an RS2 Avant a sleeper. Nope.
There was nobody who considered the SHO a sleeper. Nope.

@@doug6191 you don't know what sleeper means do you?
@@Ancient_troll Sure do, troll. That's why I explained it.

I've seen all these cars growing up, except the Carlton.
Ive seen 1 Carlton in 34 years. Rocking horse poop.
You demonstrate you have no idea what a "sleeper" is.
Thank you for your feedback.
@@USAutoLegacy The music is not good. on ALL the videos. You sometimes use music with vocals which is bonkers. you got to stop it.
