With a Vr6 you have a Ton of options for upgrades. Just with the stock motor the power to weight ratio is very good. Adding a GT3071R 71 mm turbocharger with a C2 chip will deff bring you over 350bhp or more at the dyno. about $4k or more, but most worth it especially when dealing with your towns rice.
VR6 owner here, they are good little motors. Don't forget these MkIII Jetta's and Golfs are super light. power to weight ratio friends, and at tastiekakes, very good point, in fact my kinetic stage 2 comes in in a few weeks :)
@gunzkevin wasnt there also a later fox body that came with that motor? im not positive im not a ford guy im a vw guy but i know someone who has a stang with one of those turbo 4s!
@gunzkevin I stand corrected. How did that work out for them? Doesn't look like it did very well from the Mustang forums. Almost every mention of it is accompanied with the word unreliable. See as how I was three when that car came out you can probably understand how I wouldn't remember it.
@coffan69 no you can get a passat or golf mk3 with syncro (awd) but it is actually a 2.9liter engine with 190hp and the mk4 golf and jetta/bora vr6 4motion with 204hp and 24v
@Domethiusloch given time I am sure us cars will figure some stuff out example the new mustang v6 puts out an impressive 304 hp with 30 mpg that to me is allot of progress in the right direction
@Lax22Beast Tell me what mythical Mustang GT came stock with over 550hp except the current Shelby (which for the record isnt a stock GT)? Not sure what you are smoking but it must be the good stuff.
@guitarjoe209 What I mean is that their engines don't have to run to crazy RPM's, and don't have to utilize high boost. They have smooth, even, quiet power and still beat almost anything out there. It's all about the elegance when it comes from the factory. You could easily throw a few intake / exhaust mods on a TT V12 Merc and then chip it to put out FAR more power than it does stock, but it won't be as comfortable, will be a lot louder, and won't have the elegance factor. Long live Maserati!
The jetta is still around 15 years old, its pretty impressive. I love it !

I hear the 3 valve system has a bad issue with the cranks walking out of the blocks, Or they do in the trucks anyways.

I own a Jetta VR6, and I swear that car defies physics!!
Those VW Vento's are a super car, solid as a rock

@TheSaltySea if your talking about the VR6, the car comes with 172hp stock
a little bit modified
VR has been chiped
and the mustang 2.5" all the pipelines without cat converter, and flowmaster's
i love this video, jetta looks like great sleeper
donde fue esto, en Guadalajara o el DF?
@samiam2595 Did I say it was a 24v? I used it as a comparison... boss. :)
