    Yes I did, thank you! I'm confident Max Verstappen will be a future F1 World Champion. But it's not the New Ayrton Senna, we can't say that. Ayrton is Ayrton, Max is Max. Both extremely talented racing drivers though!

    Probably the best thing F1 will see in the coming years.
    His driving skills are at least the level of Hamilton and Vettel.
    Most wins in the best F3 field ever, in his first year of autosport, is amazing.

    Just remembered about this video I watched 7 years ago when we were told that there's a Verstappen who looks very promising and will be joining F1 for 2015. Watching this here I was immediately impressed, and soon Max impressed with his first season in F1 as well. Today there's no doubt he's the current top driver in F1 and also seems to be becoming the most popular one too. I hope he converts a season of excellence into a first driver's title.

    Saw him for the first time in Spa. Called hubby in and said "see that kid? He's going to be an F1 world champ before too long". Shame you didn't have a clip of the Norisring in the wet. He was steadier than the safety car! Heard his boss (the big one) say that was the weekend he decided that they had to sign him up asap. He rarely gives interviews but this was after Max's win in Austria this year (2018). He's matured a lot this season so if the team get even close to Merc and Ferrari next year, watch out for him fighting for the championship!

    To start, i am one of the biggest senna fans. Now i disagree with people saying that there will be no one ever as good as senna. Yes hes was brilliant, but why isn't it possible for another one to be as good? If you want to complain about verstappen not being as impressive..., Have you seen the race in austin? He has beaten both red bull drivers (mind you, he's driving a torro rosso)! And he was able to defend him from kimi raikonen. Back in the day at monaco with senna driving the toleman, he had (sort of) the same racing conditions and verstappen's racing was almost as impressive (mind you again, he's just 18 years old)

    So in two different clips he's wheel to wheel with Ocon, Ocon moves towards Verstappen both times seeking contact. Is that kind of aggressive driving normal / accepted in F3? In this video Verstappen is shown using the same defensive strategies that he is criticised for in F1, but he gets praised for it by the commentators here.

    • @etraag
      @etraag 8 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      It used to be normal in F1 too. Schumacher did it, Hakkinen did it, Senna did it. In the last few years F1 got extremely boring though, and drivers aren't allowed to drive anymore. Liberty Media is trying to undo the damage though.

    Just saw race number 29. Verstappen fastest in qualifying but put 10 places back due a motorchange-penalty. He started 11th and finished 2nd (in just 19 laps) humiliating the whole field of drivers. If one move should be in a video like here above is how he overtook Ocon in this race 29. It was almost like Ocon was not moving at all.

    Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to watch Eurosport in the US, so I do not have access to all the great open wheel (and sports car) racing in Europe. F1 has been selling the series as drivers competing with similar cars (despite the silver arrows), so if I have to suffer with parity in the constructor's field, I'd rather watch a younger crew approach the technical aspect of the sport.
    When a seventeen year old gets in that Toro Rosso, a young driver with over twelve years of sanctioned race experience will get in that car, with eyes on threatening a seat in the next tier, the next year. It may be unfair to compare a yet tested youth to the accomplishments of others in within the history of the series, but MAX seems destined to become an institution.
    Your some kind of monster, kid.

    That's the point in f1, may the best driver win, no restrictions or anything that's the way f1 used to be, the drivers knew it was dangerous but if it bothered them that much they wouldn't be , that's the only way you can define the best driver, not the best rule follower. This is why I like Verstappen because he does what's gotta be done in this racing

  • @sanderscheffer74
    @sanderscheffer74 10 ปีที่แล้ว +31

    Okay, first of all, Max is not the new Senna, he IS the new Verstappen, for his father is Jos Verstappen. That's a fact.
    Then, Senna was a multiple F1 World Champion who was exceptionally dedicated for his time, had an amazing carcontrol skill, seemed to feel the smallest differences to his car, calculated his laptime to 0,10 of a second before he even drove that lap.. and he had a very strong a special personality that we haven't seen before.
    Max Verstappen still has to show what he can do in F1.
    BUT ... if you see this footage and compare it to Senna's F3 period... I must say Max shows some Senna-like skills, or at least remind people to it. Max seems to have an amazing feel of grip of his car, shows a really exceptional learning curve (from karting to F1 within 12 months!), has an amazing self- and car control, seems to be able to "read" a race and his opponent's. .. and makes overtaking a real art. In that way of looking to it... then we could say Max does remind us of Senna's F3 period.
    And Senna drove Formula Ford before F3..... Max only did karting. Is Max the new Senna? No. Does he remind us to Senna, in some ways yes. Is Max something special, yes !
    Can't wait to see what he'll be able to do coming years in F1. But give the kid a chance before judging... don't expect him to be the F1 2015 Champion.

    Senna transcended Formula 1. He was as captivating to watch on the track as well as off it. There will never be another Senna, there was only one. No one can be the next somebody else, they can only be themselves the best they can be. I wish the best for Max but all this Senna comparison is more harmful to his career than beneficial.

  • @digitalT83
    @digitalT83 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't see how anyone can say he is the new anything? He is not the new Senna and never will be, not because of talent because he is still relatively unproven, at least in an F1 car anyway. Senna was Senna and there will only be one Ayrton Senna as what he did in life was Senna's way, Max Verstappen is the new Max Verstappen.

      Randy Lasmana
      He's only making one defensive move. He's allowed to return to the racing line after that. That looks like two moves but the rules says it's fine. It is rarer in f1 because the closing speeds are higher and the following distance is greater. You'll mainly see it on starts and safety car restarts. Vettel is particularly good at it.

    • @randylasmana9406
      @randylasmana9406 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joseph Fabian I re-watched and you're right. one defensive move only. just it seems to close to the car behind. anybody feels that these youngsters have better reflect than f1 drivers now? or f1 drivers have better calculation so they know when to risk the move?

    no doubt he is going to be one of the best f1 drivers we'll have in the next few years, but its still way too early to tell if he can be or is as good as senna was
    remember senna could push his car within centimeters of barriers and tell exactly where the best grip on the track was. we still dont know if verstappen will have the same sense, precision and balls as senna but no doubt he'll be a great driver one day

Pity there's no footage of a wet race and some pole position attempts, that's where the raw talent shows best!
