Hi Gary I have a Polo vivo Clp that is giving me an overheating problem. This happens intermittently. Whenever the temp gage goes up I switch the car off and check the radiator hoses. Top hose hot and bottom is cold. There are other instances where the car is working fine(no overheating), top hose and bottom hose is hot/warm. What could be the problem?
Thanks uncle Gary for the video. I also learnt to replace my fan belt in the process. I have the same engine in my polo vivo, it’s abit tight to work around but doable. I do however believe that the client had the wrong coolant in the car. VWs in general and the CLP engine in particular takes G12 or G13 coolant which is pink or purple. Could that have been an issue of why the water pump failed if the wrong coolant is used ? Thank you for your content. Matt JHB.
Correct Matt it had the incorrect coolant, but I doubt that was the cause of the water pump failure, I think the car did not have coolant in it for a while and it was remedied with a new bottle and green coolant, so the damage was already done.
Hi Gary, have you ever worked on a 2010 hyundia getz? my temperature light keeps coming on and off. what could it be? The car still drives fine and doesn't overheat. Could this be a faulty sensor?

Where is your workshop. I have got a polo vivo clp. And coolant is not consistent in the reservoir. It goes up and down. No leaks . I'm located in cape Town.
Have you replaced the heater valve yet, it is located under the intake manifold, it is also well known for slow leaks, also have a pressure test performed on your cooling system, let them have it under pressure for at least 20 minutes, this will expose slow leaks. ( I am too busy, only taking on new work in November, sorry)
hello, what could the issue be in a vivo 1.4 2012 when the water in the expansion tank is boiling out of the bottle. there is no water leaks as far as i can see.
It could be thermostat not opening, or air on the cooling system, it seems your coolant is not circulating properly, try to bleed the cooling system first
Thanks for the video uncle. I'm guessing the 1.6 CLS engines waterpump and process would be fairly similar?. And the I have a quick question uncle, car sounds like diesel on startup and when warm it goes quiet, would would your best guess be: crack in manifold or timing chain and tensioner? Keep up the good work 👏

That is always a difficult one, I normally drill a hole in the center of the broken bolt and use an easy-out tool, it does not always work though, a lot does depend on the location of the broken bolt.

In all probability it is a faulty sensor and needs to be replaced, this was my experience on more than one occasion with the Getz.
great job mate!

Hello, I have the three hole water pump, but it is a 4 hole. Can I still put it on?
No.
Hi Gary, A question with regards to water pump impellers. What do you recommend plastic or metal/brass impeller? Thank you.
In my humble opinion, Noncorrosive metals like brass and aluminum are always the best Rahul.

That's giving yourself a burden loosening the engine mounting bolts cos the space still remains limited
It does make the job easier, as is seen in the video.
