Nothing wrong with light sanding as long as the grit one uses isn't overly aggressive. I used some 440 to sand down some S&W combat grips last night and then finished in pure Tung Oil, worked like a charm.
It looks MUCH better, it especially compliments the brass. I have an Uberti Ranch Hand as well, and I've been wanting to remove the glossy finish, both for aesthetics and because the smoothness inhibits a good grip. This vide convinced me to "pull the trigger." Great video!
Colt is a mutual fund sitting in safe. My cimmeron gives me a nice hunting gun ,fishing gun that if its lost or destroyed im not heartbroken just a lil sad😮

Now wet your hand and grip the gun. It will leave white spots.😢

Will that Kleen Strip remove the clear coat on the brass grip frame?
Yes!
Nice!
Would this same method work for American holly? I have a set of 1911 grips that are to glossy.
The oil needs to be darker. soaking into the wood. I know looks are subjective!
Like the redone colt grips but l
Iiked the schofields grips before you changed, them, wood does get a dull shine from the oils in your hands
