OLD Leather Smith here, Great job, beginners should enjoy doing. When I carve I do 3d this project would be perfect 4 it. Instead of gold dye I would use gold leaf the old fashion way. I know Weaver sells lifters but I use petal lifters, old school 2 many new chemicals when I teach I use mouth water and elbow grease. Thanks 4: letting me go on and on. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃

After watching most all of your segments, I think "Leathercraft Explorer" may fit. Your content goes deeper into leather working so we can improve with new and a little more detailed information on techniques, learning, new materials and great views demonstrating what you are trying to get across.... Keep up the amazing content.

This is an awesome video, and definitely a good project to learn some skills. I've been trying my hand at stamping lately. Not good at it yet, but progress has been made and more practice is always welcome. I definitely would like a dedicated video on the different ways to case leather and the why of them. Thank you for making this video. :)

This is absolutely gorgeous! The gold really makes the beautiful design pop right off the piece. My personal preference would have been silver, but that's just my taste. I'd love to see a video about casing, as others have also already commented. I'm wondering if this technique might help me out on a project I'm having trouble with... I have a somewhat intricate design that I want raised up from the base, and I've been (unsuccessfully) trying to wet-shape the leather. Perhaps this would be a better idea. Not sure glue would be enough though, unless I use that really stinky cement-stuff... And I don't like using it 😅
Something I like to do sometimes with my celtic knots is what I call cushioning. You use a very shallow checkered beveler and bevel the background moving in and changing your angle so in the middle of the background it barely has the checkered impression but next to the knot it's nice and deep giving a look similar to a quilt or a cussion.
Another amazing show Daniel, that was so strange that you were sharpening the bevel I was going to ask if you had covered sharpening and stroping all the cutting equipment and bevels. I also saw someone using saddle soap when casing the leather, he was making holsters and heavy leather with a lot of tooling so I'm unsure if that process might make this thinner leather too spongy to tool. Is there a difference between slicking and burnishing an edge I've seen a few different processes for that effect on the leather so I'm unsure what way to go. As usual, this is extremely well explained and demonstrated thank you so much for sharing your expertise and flair with us. Still rocking the beard brother well done for sticking with it. All the very best from me and my family over in Scotland you you and yours in the beautiful United States of America. We need some inverter carvings. I do all my letters inverted, but when it comes to something like Sheridan style carvings. I get confused on exactly what should be invested and what should be standard. Would love some examples shown and how to.

Lets use a triangle as an example. If you were to cut it in with a swivel knife and connect the cuts, the corners would have the potential of lifting and peeling back over time. To avoid that, we leave a small gap between the cuts, and then connect the lines with our bevel. That prevents the corners from lifting.
I like the idea. My only hesitation is that lifting belts are designed to protect the user from hurting themselves. I'm not sure I like taking on that responsibility.
@@duhbeans5570 I've made 100's of these for a cannot be named entertainment company. They are fairly simple. I actually sourced all the required materials from Weaver at the time. A recent check of their website reveals they do not stock the Stainless buckles I used at the time which were 4" double tounge, but they do have a nickle plated version #100 Buckle, Two-Tongue. 12-14oz latigo leather is the way to go for duarability and resistance to sweating.
I would love to see the different ways to case leather. The more I watch the better I feel about doing my own projects.
