    Thank you! This was what I was missing! I've been trying to figure out how to not have my blankets "wave" so much. 😂

    Thank you SO much for explaining this process, including the way you tension your yarn on your fingers. This video is the best!

    I can see where I've been varying the tension at the hook (instead of at the yarn) because I've been holding the hook too close to the head and then forcing it through the tightest stirches. My tension then varies from row to row because of the hook. Ugh. Frustrating but I'm glad I found your video. It's very helpful and I'll be watching it several more times to get in the right routine.

      @@crochetunraveled do you have a suggestion on how to make the starting chain a little more consistent with the subsequent rows? I've been using a hook 1 size larger than the primary hook and it comes out too loose. When I use the same size hook, it comes out tighter than the subsequent rows. Where should I be holding the hook and placing the yarn on the hook to make it a little more consistent? (I learned in mid-September but the tension issues have been very frustrating.

      @crochetunraveled  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you use the same size hook, I would just make sure the yarn is going up to the fattest part of the hook and that it’s not wrapped too tightly. It should be able to glide easily. This may just take some extra practice to perfect. You may also want to watch my video about how and why to work into the back bump of your chain :) hope that helps!

      Me too!! I never realize i developed a bad habit of directly holding my yarn (looping around my index finger only and trying to keep it tight) it tires me out quickly and leaves me sore for a while after. I cant wait to adjust my holding and make things easier. Crocheting was begining to feel like a chore ❤

    thank you for this video, it is so helpful! I was wondering if how I begin the next row affects the evenness of the project? I think I am struggling with ending rows and beginning new ones and was wondering if you have a video on it?

      Glad it was helpful! If you are doing a specific stitch (ex: double crochet) I explain how to best start end and begin each row using that stitch in the video about it. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for watching!

    Okay so it doesn’t matter that the loops aren’t the same size just that they are at the same height? (Even with the row?)

    I got a question!! I want to make my stitches tight and as close to each other as possible because it makes me feel like it's going to be more durable that way. So what I do is that after I finished a stitch, I tug my working yarn hard enough to tighten the stitch I just made. But the problem is, my swatch becomes either bigger or smaller as I work my way up. The change in width is not that obvious at first sight but I want to follow the sizes in my pattern strictly. For example, it tells me to start with 23 chains and work until I have 14×14 cm square. My width wil eventually become 13cm or 15cm which will make my square uneven and have this hourglass shape. What should I do to fix or avoid that??

    • @crochetunraveled
      @crochetunraveled  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Instead of pulling to make it tighter, I would use a much smaller hook. Then you can just focus on crocheting each stitch consistently without having to pull on it.

      @KC Rain Cano it also sounds like that pulling tighter after each stitch is what makes that shape. If you think about it, that 1st stitch keeps getting pulled and you are making more so the 1st st will be the most stretched and each stitch after will be stretched slightly less

    My biggest problem is when changing the type of stitches in a project. I can't hold the yarn at all between my fingers... I've tried holding diff ways and tension rings and what not. For the most part I can do a one row repeat... But whenever they go from say a hdc to a crossover double or something, it starts to look and get crazy!!! I have like 30 balls of yarn with anywhere from 3-16 chains of a project hanging Off the end of them!!! 😣😔🙄

    Please help. I am making a blanket with blanket yarn and ever other row has to be a “bind off row”. But it doesn’t seem to be even.I can’t find any videos t that show you how to make sure a bind off row is even. Can you provide a little guidance?

    • @crochetunraveled
      @crochetunraveled  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I understand correctly, I think you should just yarn over and pull through with the new color on the last part of the last stitch of each row. Then you can cut the end of the old color, turn, and start crocheting the next row with the new color. Hope that helps!?
