@iananderson4754 It was a Monster Hunter crossover thing. There are a few boss fight missions where you fight monsters based on the Monster Hunter games and a new Metal Gear inspired monster. It follows in the Metal Gear tradition of having mini games based on other video games. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for Metal Gear Solid 2 and Ape Escape for Metal Gear Solid 3.
@@iananderson4754after you beat the monster hunter's creatures you unlock some unique skin colors and Gear REX(a unique monster)appears, with the final battle(Gear Rex on the motherbase) being fucking impossible,if I recall you have to find a cat somewhere to unlock it

He thought Raiden was an assassin sent to kill him. He thought Raiden was a woman. He figured he was going to get himself a grab before he went out.

My headcanon is that he knew about a female patriot spy in the Big Shell (Olga) and then when confronted with Raiden he thought it was her, then when things started to not add up he checked if Raiden was even a woman to fully confirm if they were actually different people and not the patriot assasin playing dumb.
That is the only way I can explain that scene, but maybe im wrong a Kojima just wanted to make Johnson a creep, we will never know.

To be fair, it would be difficult to fit anything from Metal Gear Solid V in here, considering how breathtakingly dull that game is.
@@Brandon_Powell Ground zeroes is probably the greatest start to any metal gear game and is near perfection but phantom pain fumbles so hard. It has the outline of an amazing story but most of the time the main missions feel more like side ops than anything actually relevant to the plot so the pacing is abysmal. It really would have worked so much better if they just went with the straightforward plot of big boss being the protagonist rather than venom
@plugshirt1762 I mostly agree. I do have problems with Ground Zeroes, such as the grotesque handling of Paz and Chico's story, but if the story followed the outline you highlighted, there would have been no need for that story anyway. Specifically, I think the story should have been exactly what they advertise it as. The missing link between games.
It should have been about Big Boss meeting back up with Frank Yeager and Naomi and recruiting Sniper Wolf. I don't mind them retconning Zero as a villain, but I would have actually liked to see that arc play out as opposed to just listening to the aftermath of it in audio tapes.
Zero, Para-Medic, and Sigint's reframing as the villains of the series always seemed jarring and incongruent to me, so I would have been absolutely happy with them retconning that in any way.
