Zen Jamin 🤣🤣🤣🤣 you won’t see heaven. So you mean the old man sits and watches patiently and notes down all the things. And I’m sure it’s easy for him because Pierre keeps his videos very short and direct. No story telling

My 02 Mercedes CL500 also uses the bolted type rear axle with CV joint. Since it has a cover on the end that's connected to the differential instead of a conventional pinion shaft sticking out & connecting to the differential gears, can you explain how this works? Thank you

Hey pierre do you know of a limited slip diff that will fit the 1987 300d base model car. My car now has 165k miles and I noticed the boots are really stiff. Would it be better to replace the axles or just new boots. Thanks. Robert

I watch the whole video, but I did see how you remove the cv joint from the shaft now how to replace the boot. Can you please show how to remove the shaft from the cv joint?

This is a great vid. Is the 2.47 swap common? What was the original diff gearing? I have 2.82 in an e420 and it is a rocketship. Also swapped 210mm diff and axles from a 500sl with a 500e subframe into my 87 300td at the stock 2.65 ratio with a wavetrac, because 606 power :-) And a feind swaybar and sportline sls struts and springs. I know - heresy. It is great about the axle length and machining to fit. Very valuable info.

It's not extremely call them but it works pretty well on the big diesels

actually I think these are some great and totally stock upgrades that reflect the interchangeability of Mercedes components. Nice

@@thisisnightshop2037 thanks yes the only slightly ghetto part was the sls bracket and tubing needs to be massaged because the 500e has a totally different location for the valve. The 87 location will rub on the R side axle shaft if not adjusted. But otherwise it all works just like stock. Oh - rear driveshaft needs shortening by 1 and 3/16" if you want to use the thicker w210 e300d 6 bolt guibos front and back.

I have an 87 R107 560SL, can I or should I flush the differential oil in the rear?

This is great to know as I've been scared to tackle this job. I'm doing the upgraded torque damping rear trailing arms in my 560 sel along with regearing it from a 2.47 to a (I believe) 2.88 from a 350 sdl. I cant do much more for extra power on the engine and emissions but can gear it for more pep. Are there other gear ratios that are closer to a 2.65 that work in a w126 LSD diff?

The legend delivers again. This is youtube at it's best. Keep banging them out Pierre. Non Mercedes owners don't know what they are missing out on.

    Great video Pierre
I can now look at my cv boots with open eyes instead of “there’s nothing to see here I hope”
Mine are ok on the W126 300SE but will need doing for sure in the not too distant future

If someone made a conversion, I sure hope they’d document it for future owners. Saves the headache of troubleshooting down the road. Great video!! You make it look so easy.

One thing I always do when installing those annular axles is put blue loctite on the bolt threads. I've seen several cars with those axles come in with bolts so loose they were ready to fall out.
