Had a guy call me to figure out his leak on a 12 fusion hybrid. Said he has had 3 shops including a dealer look at it and couldnt find leak. Within 20 min I found the radiator had failed. Gave him quote on replacement. He called 3 more times to ask about it then decided to do it himself. Calls and asks if I had a vacuum bleeder. I said I did and he said he changed his radiator and its sitll overheating. THe dealer had quoted him to vaccum it and wondered how much I would charge. I told him if he had just had me do it in the first place it would have already been done. Come to find out he destroyed a radiator trying to install it and had to buy 2. I think I quoted him 120 to install the rad in first place.
Possible head gasket. Had that issue wasn't going out tail pipe wasn't losing any. Had a very small leak on head gasket it would over heat and then it would cool down and be fine for awhile. Then same thing again. Was to 2 shops no one could find it. Finally seen a few bubbles in the radiator. I narrowed it . Fixed head gasket. Done. Other side went poof right out tail pipe. Easy to find lol. 3.5 engine also
I have a 2007 Lincoln MKZ, I have changed the thermostat, and temp sensor in the head. The car will sit and idle without the engine overheating, and will drive fine also, but out of the blue the temp will go up pretty fast, then the fail safe kicks in by shutting off some of the fuel injectors. The temp sensor I used to replace the head sensor was an O'Reilly sensor, could it be the issue? I think I have the coolant system full, I wonder about air pockets, and the water pump...
I don't know if the set up is the same as my 2014 SHO but my coolant entry and exit from the block is kind of on the high side so the bulk of my coolant stays in the engine with very little above the long block height but yeah I never thought about putting the system into a vacuum. Great job, good idea!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
The brand was Mac Tools but Snap-on and Cornwell both have the same style then it's the standard coolant reservoir adapter that goes on it and then they have a special Ford one that's a tool guy knows what it is for the newer Fords
No it was the front cooling fans....one of them would never turn on and one was doing all the work 200$ later and it was fixed no charge to the customer
What coolant do you recommend for a 2018 f150 3.5 ecoboost im doing the water pump and thermostat there's to many options for the thermostat as well im not sure wich temperature is the right one any help will be highly appreciated Thank you...sorry for all the questions
Hello wondering if you can help with some guidance I have a 2017 explorer sport I had the recall done for the roof rails back in February since then there has been a update for the recall as you know but my vin done not fall under this I went back to the dealer that did the recall because because of the glue that was used it will expand lifting up the rails with the heat/sun and contract the rails back down during the evening but the rails do not come off they told me that there was nothing that can be done as the work was a recall and they did it as per the recall and the update is not for my car what do you recommend or is it just worth buying a hole new rail as it’s fully glued down And just doing the install as per the updated recall with the tree clips on the back side
Question those cars are similar to the Mazda six I know the Mazda six is had a cooling fan update where the cooling fans weren’t coming on it was a module was that already done on those cars by that time another Mazda six in 2012 had a fan module issue I know those shared with Mazda
That looks like upside down version of 5.4 t stat, and maybe the 4.6? I don't remember. I saw an hvac guy do this with a shop vac and a half full heating oil tank. Thanks brother

Awesome job. Explain things in straightforward manner, no bs and smart as a whip with the vacuum trick. This is how all mechanics need to operate!
Ingenious use of vacuum. I saw it and went "I get it"
Just saved a drain and refill. Time and money.
This is genius. Thank you for sharing these this is greatly appreciated by all of us in the field

I just finished a tstat on a 10 expedition this would have saved me from getting coolant all over the alternator and coils. Nice tip boss!
Try next time and let me know how it goes...you'll have to play around with it to get it perfect

The new snap on vacuum tool has this option and it’s called “barrier” mode. It’s 500.00 lol. Good tip with the existing vacuum tool!
Yep that's one I was going to buy and I started doing this instead
you can buy vacuum coolant fill tools , good way to test for leaks as well . nice trick
That's like magic stuff right there. Pretty cool!!!

If you tell Ford corporate this they will schedule an appointment for you to go in and get the recall done

What is your take on the 3.5 and 3.7 with the timing chain driven pump? Do you see them fail a lot?
They don't fail a lot but about every 100,000 miles or so they have to be replaced
@@FordBossMe what is that about 12-14 hours labor… possibly engine out.. 2k easy
@@FordBossMe can the waterpump be replaced with the engine in the car or do you have to drop the engine on the MKZ to replace the pump?
Very interesting and smart
I sold my 2008 mkz a few days ago did I make the right choices 150k ?
I mean I've seen these with over 200,000 miles on them
This one at a hundred and sixty-eight thousand miles it's starting to act like it's wore out though
Mines had 203k before the water pump ruptured and destroyed the engine so they’re pretty reliable
