A first class video showing one way of getting professional standard panel markings at a budget price, my approach to this was CAD milling of the panel and milling the markings through the paint with contrasting colour paint laid into the lettering. Without doubt a more expensive process. Only time will tell if it is a more robust method, I suspect that if I do change my Avionic fit the new panel construction from start to finish will be much quicker as now I have the basic CAD file modification is relatively simple………………… but I don’t see that happening any time soon, Garmin have enough of my money.
For a one-off type of installation we will hand fab the panel. If we were a production shop we would cad/cam. Can't really recoup the cad layout time on a one-time fabrication. We can fabricate quite efficiently. That being said, we do all our artwork on computer. I burn screens, print, and then strip the screens for the next job. I can easily edit and reprint a file, then burn the screen again lickety split. Another item we will do (lifted it from Cessna panels) is label radio circuit breakers as Radio 1, Radio 2, etc. and not NavCom 1, etc. Because life changes... Thanks for watching!
Someone else mentioned this already but most "Dark Rooms" have a red light illuminating the work area. Just like the old days of Red Instrument panel lights. You may want to get one for a table lamp to be used when getting the 'screen' ready for exposure. Just a thought and keep the videos coming!

What kind of ink did you use?
Can you use a red light during the setup process? Just thinking the red LED headlight I have in my flight bag for night flying would work good to see for setup if so.

Good to see the process.. What do you do if you mess up one of the words while screen printing? Will the ink wash off with a solvent?
We can remove the print with solvent easily immediately after we print it and try again. Once it dries it is like regular paint. Thanks for watching!
Could you explain how you aligned the panel with the screen to insure placement was correct?
I believe we checked square on each screening and taped the panel down.
I would have liked to see the steps she mentioned as they were fast. When she made the new aluminum panel, did that have to be engineered and an approval given to use it in a certified aircraft? Thanks for your time and videos.

Not easily. The limiter is the screen frame and trying to stabilize it. Thanks for asking though!

Great demo. If you continue to post these I would suggest you get a decent mike and try not to mumble in the back and forth. Sadly it was impossible to hear what you were saying. I would also suggest a couple of zoom shots. We never really got to see the final panel!
