I loved the attention to detail with Kit being a Fennec.

Its wild to see Sonic not talk so much towards Jet. His dynamic with him recently has been super fun to watch.
I especially love how Eggman is being played here. Its super funny to be so petty that he helps out Sonic.
Plus he doesn't want anyone else to be humiliate sonic. Since he said and I quote "That's my job!"
He don't want to help Sonic, is just using him to know who is in charge of clean sweep
@@dr.ivorobotnik8910 I'm pretty Sonic knows Eggman is only being partially honest. Eggman hasn't been able to hold a truce til the end since Rivals 2. I'm not counting Frontiers, because there's no indication it has happened yet in these comics.

Honestly, judging by how childlike his mind tends to be, this seems perfectly in character. Both seem like something a child would do if they could.
My personal commentary:
1) I was hoping the Diamond Cutters would be racing but they’re just refs. That’s a bummer.
2) It wouldn’t be a chapter with Lanolin if she didn’t bite her own friends’ heads off. I’m getting tired of this behavior from her.
3) We finally see Eggman back in the flesh, and he’s aiding Sonic just to screw Clean Sweep.
4) After everything that happened, now I understand why Sonic became the Phantom Rider (there goes my Infinite theory).
Overall, this a really great issue to return with after a 4 month hiatus. Can’t wait to see how the other racers react to the “Phantom Rider,” and I can’t wait to see what Amy and Tails will uncover.
Speaking of the Diamond Cutters:
Lanolin- she's clearly coming off as an anti-hero, like Glimmer in She Ra and the princesses of power and Harriet Bree in RWBY volume 8. After incorrectly blaming Silver and defending Duo, twice, talking down to her teammates, Whisper especially, and incorrectly believing that Team Sonic were at fault, she seriously needs that wake up call, especially in the form of Mimic's exposure and the truth about the board malfunction. and her apology better be heart-warming and her comeuppance better be played more sympathetically
Whisper- While she doesn't say anything, judging by her facial expression, she felt bad for Sonic and his friends. she really needs to stand up to Lanolin and get her confidence fully restored after what happened in issue 64 and actually help Amy and Tails in investigating. and above all, she also she needs to be the one to actually figure out Mimic. also she did manage to stop the boards from causing more damage
Tangle- While I like how she spoke up to Lanolin and called her out for her harshness and even , I think she needs to really stand up to her. She also needs to join with Sonic, Tails and Amy in the investigation like Whisper

@@user-tq4hw2hb2j Trying looking at things a little less from a reader's perspective when it comes to Lanolin's decisions. We have an objective view on that situation. The inexperienced more by-the-book type does not. She's falling for the ace manipulator's tricks just as Whisper and Silver did. Past that, she is more than little passive-aggressive, yes, and it's seeping into her 'Scott Summers instead of Buddy #3' leadership style...

@@aalloy6881 the way i'd see it, While Tails and Amy investigate the case and close in on Clutch (the Chaotix need to get involved), Whisper and Tangle investigate from another end and close in on Mimic (Silver and Blaze need to get involved) and at some point, maybe during or after issue 72, when Tails and Amy's 'luck runs out' and they'd probably get into trouble with the restoration, Lanolin especially, the two ends will meet up and set up Clutch and Mimic to get caught red handed, in the process allowing Lanolin to see the truth the hard way, but without putting her in actual danger. Whisper and Silver are cleared and team Sonic's disqualification is undone, the latter most unlikely due to how the circuit would've gone. As For Surge and Kit, they should has their own semi-redemption arc within the sonic riders arc
What a start after a long hiatus! Dang, I cannot believe Lanolin! She didn’t even consider that Sonic, Tails and Amy could be hurt! Just like with Silver. I think she hours these heroes so high up, that she takes any slight problem that happens as a mistake. She’s way too military driven, and it looks like it’s like it might start effecting how Tangle sees her. And THAT’S where the Phantom Rider came from? I don’t know if we should trust this, but do we have much of a choice.
Every time Lanolin shows up now, it’s to do something no one likes or to just simply be an asshole. It’s one thing to be like that to Silver, despite how much I hated her there. But here? It’s Sonic, Tails, Amy, and technically speaking Jet we are talking about! How did they let that one slide?
Also, no, I am not hating on Silver. I am just saying that on the fact that there at least was an excuse there. But there is no excuse here. Please let Mimic backstab her at the end of the arc!

Seems that jumping to conclusions is becoming Lanolin’s thing. What shocks me is that Sonic the Hedgehog himself and Amy Rose (her own idol) is not immune to this.
Because she’s not letting anyone especially heroes be above the rules. She’s strict but she’s just trying not to make mistakes or let people get hurt.
The main issue is that she’s trying too hard to do so.
@@justynhill4814 Maybe being too hard is the problem. It isn’t that she has concerns but how she handles it. In reference to let’s say, NASCAR, if a vehicle has problematic components, an investigation would be done to find the source of the problem including the possibility of sabotage. In short, Sonic wouldn’t be in a diner being upset about what happened. The problem would’ve been found sooner.

Eggman stealing the show every time he's in comic. Would you imagine Eggman sitting with sonic tails and amy at the same table in restaurant, ordering a food, eating while he's between tails and amy? It's so amusing!
Easy to forget Eggman is technically a business man and is probably rich from it, he’s always making amusement parks, and in Rider Zero Gravity he even owns a whole company. He’s probably an archaeologist from all the ancient stuff he keeps uncovering.
He’s also a good engineer, chemist, specialist in aerodynamics, biologist, astronomer, and a cyber hacker.

that scene with Jewel. it shows that SHE'S at least concerned about Sonic, Tails and Amy's safety. too bad she's being taken in by Duo. Hopefully she'll be in on Amy and Tails' investigation; that is unless she gets bought in to some lies told by Clutch and/ or Duo and reluctantly goes against them

I get why Lanolin acts the way she does. But man, will it feel sweet to see it all eventually blow up in her face. She's got a lot of apology cards to write when this is all over.
Before a certain someone jumps in a says his peace let’s just go the fact that Lanolin was definitely a impartial judge here. Before the pileup she was doing her job well and wasn’t just on Sonic case but Jet too for rough behavior and gave him a warning.
Yes she came off stern once again but a pileup is definitely not a laughing matter and the fact it seems team sonic gear was the main cause of this which resulted their disqualification.
I definitely get it, but I think what bothers people is Lanolin’s behavior. Yes, she was the referee and was doing her job well, but many would say (myself included) she’s being unnecessarily stern. It’s one thing to follow the rules, but being harsh about it is another

Lots of nice twists and turns this issue. I wasn't expecting Team Hero to be disqualified right off the bat like that. And (while it's disappointing that they're not competing) I wasn't expecting the DC's to be refs for the race (Lanolin's strict personality here is justified but it's still not gonna help her popularity given the previous issues).
Let's hope we get to see them really cut loose in the future.
Big points to Clutch. Keeping Jewel out of sight to make it look like she's too busy for the public is smart move.
And of course Eggman being the one to supply Sonic with the new Rider gear is somewhat surprising but very welcomed. (The evil scientist making the hero into a Masked Rider is fitting in more ways than one)
This plot could really have worked well for a new Rider Game. If only....
I don't like how Lanolin is behaving with the other companions and friends, she must not be the leader of the Diamond Cutters of how she behaves and she protected that damned Mimic disguised in Duo and she didn't believe what Silver and Whisper said that that and Mimic
She's gonna end up all alone with no friends and no one to blame but herself when Mimic finally reveals himself and tries to make haggis out of her.

The amount of scrubs screwing over Sonic, Amy, and Tails was not it lol.
Knowing how prideful and petty Robotnik is, you have to have guts to make a mascot mockery out of him. Last time he went out to get revenge he unleashed the Metal Virus on the world starting with the town he was in while he was Mr. Tinker and they were merely being friendly and accepting of him despite his past. Who knows what Egg-based machine he’ll build in or what demonic force he’ll awaken in retaliation.
Also, Eggman sitting on Tails in the booth. XD Maybe a bit of payback to tailslapping him in the face near the end of the Eggperial City arc.
In fairness, the Metal Virus was revenge for a bigger deal and because he'd been out of the game a long time. But Clutch had better have layers of contingencies to flee and hide if Eggman wants revenge.
And he'll only prove the satire of him right by retaliating.
Man it's been a long time since I saw this comic series come back. Can I say that I love the story and love the designs of the characters. It's very hard to choose favorites. But I'm not going to lie though Lanolin is getting on my nerves. She jumps into conclusions and not gives any regards about her friends being hurt by scrapes on the road. It's like the same thing that you did for Silver. I'm not saying that Silver was in the right here but all that seems so suspicious that she should have taken that seriously. She fails to notice that one of her teammates is literally an assassin. And I like how Tangle is hesitant there. Our girl knows that something is wrong and she feels conflicted between her friends. But this is exactly why I don't like Lanolin. Like her strictness is going to get her stabbed in the back by Mimic aka Duo. And I really feel interested about Sonic working together with Eggman it's something to say the least. But I'm just happy that the comics are coming back. But I'm still mad that's Lanolin showed disregard to our friends and about this situation not being kind of suspicious about the extreme gear just malfunctioning like that. That's really suspicious. And the main concern is seeing that your friends are safe not trying to cause an argument. But other than that I'm just really happy that we're going to get more stories and I hope Mimic gets exposed and for good measure stabs Lanolin in the back for being that dumb and taking the whole leadership role too seriously. Like I want her to learn from this and be better. But can't wait to see more of the story that's unfolding.
Yeah, so much, in the fanfiction that I put myself in, I left Diamond Cutters, despite my favorite character Whisper (She is like me: Quiet and silent) is there. I put a stern warning to Lanolin, that if Whisper gets hurt or worse, it will be her fault while telling her that her blind trust in everyone, including Duo, is putting the team in jeopardy.
@@timcoaster I mean she thinks that she has it all figured out. Everyone has experience except her. I mean we're talking about people with slain gods and demons. I mean they've been doing this for years. And what part of deadly assassin who can shape shift isn't understandable. Like these things are getting madly suspicious. I noticed that she just put a disqualification instead of investigating further. She never just stops and thinks. Like eventually people would quit her team. And I want to Tangle and Whisper to quit at that point. She made Tangle feel conflicted and she has to call her out for how she's forgetting that they're friends. Like they're forgetting that they're all teenagers. And everyone makes mistakes. Like this sense of superiority just comes off as just overbearing and just stubborn. Eventually this pride would lead to her downfall. And I want Mimic to stabber in the back if she keeps doing this. I mean some people need to learn the hard way. But the point is I'm just not liking her in these recent comics. Like these are obvious ploys and not listening to your teammates concerns. It's just a recipe for disaster. And I think I want everyone on her team to quit before that happens and just join on Sonic side. Like this is the bad way to show the Diamond Cutters. If anything they'll be rolling in their graves. But I like how Tangle stood up for her friends and Whisper was able to knock everyone off before they crash. But Whisper really needs to learn how to stand up for herself against Lanolin. Because she's just being a rude and overbearing. At at the end of this I hope she learned from her mistakes and says sorry or suffer the consequences of our own actions.
I don’t blame Tangle honestly, Lanolin and Whisper already had that mini scrap cause Lanolin refused to simply sit down and listen that whatever his name is- is a mimic, and I know Whisper is slowly losing her patience with her too, especially considering her backstory, so Tangle is probably a nervous wreck at this point, cause idk what’s making Lanolin so defensive about Mimic either, but the way she acts like her word is law is like- ugh, and I’ve read comics with these kinds of characters before, so I completely understand that eventually she’ll be a better leader but still, the way she just called out Sonic, Tails and Amy like that, I thought they were her idols, and how no one has called her out yet is beyond me, I really wish idw sonic didn’t have something that bothered me and my friends every time an issue comes out yet im so curious of what happens next, I’m like- trying to just read and be along for the ride cause I’m not good with criticism and I hate being overly critical, there’s way too many people like that when anything comes out now, so I like to just wait and see whatever happens but man, every issue I got questions on top of questions or just straight up concerns lol

I hope that Lanolin would learn to listen before she has to learn things the hard way with losing everyone and everything, eventually get herself and others her. But so far I really dislike her throughout these issues throughout the comics. I just don't like how she's treating her friends like soldiers you don't have any personality. Like she's forgetting that everyone makes mistakes and forgetting how to solve mistakes. I hate how she disregards Whisper and her trauma, leaving her on the floor. I hate how she disregards Silver with his concerns and complaints and straight up disrespects him. I hate how she disrespects Tangle just because of who she is and her being herself and not living up to her own standards of what she is in her eyes. I hate how she treats Tails just because of a mistake that no one predicted whatsoever and insulting an 8-year-old. I hate how she disregards Sonic, Tails, and Amy safety on the road since they could have gone very injured and hurt, Then instead of choosing not to investigate just does the easier route and boots them off the track for a mistake. And I especially hater for letting and literal assassin who killed his and Whisper's family on the team. Like people are trying to defend her but there's no defending this. Like there is limits to defending this but this is indefensible! Like all of these events could have been avoided if she just listened and just got off her high horse. I see why her design is a sheep, it's because she gets so misled all the time. Like that's really perfect for her. Like I never really hated characters from Sonic media but this is hateable. Like I got mad to the point that I just quit the comics because of her stupidity alone. Like I want her to just learn the lesson either way either way. Either the easy way or the hard way to get through with the message that she needs to stop being so condescendingly ignorant and prideful! I'm just so mad. I said my peace. Like I want her to learn from her mistakes and not put people in danger or get them hurt either physically, mentally, or emotionally.

Such a cool chapter! I took a break from reading comics and now I decided to come back and this chapter is so busy! For some reason, the appearance of Eggman made me laugh so much! I didn't expect that the obvious Phantom Rider is Sonic!? I'm happy :)

I love the lowkey respect Eggman and Tails have for eachother. Eggman doesn't buy for a second that one of Tails his Extreme Gears would malfunction like that and Tails drools over the Extreme Gear that Eggman designed.
Enemy tech experts would have to know how each other operates.

I love how Eggman is very much a neutral party in this storyline, it's quite refreshing.
It was kind of weird to see that Clutch’s plan had Sonic Tails and Amy simply knocked out in the prelims when you’d expect him to want them in the event for more chances to get rid of them. As is, they aren’t harmed and now very suspicious of Clean Sweep which seems poor planning on his part to draw unwanted attention to his company. However, what if the Eggman they met at the diner was actually Mimic in disguise. Mimic does seem to favor the color purple if his disguise as Duo is any indication. Clutch could then manipulate how Sonic Tails and Amy act as he wants them to, having Sonic back in the race and reeking of Eggman, making him not just a target for Surge and Kit, but even the Diamond Cutters believing he is there to ruin the race. Then Amy and Tails will do the infiltrating not aware they are already expected by Clutch and will be walking into a trap.
Ok, now I'm paranoid for their safety... Let's just hope for the best.
Good theory. We will see if clutch is that elaborate in his plan to discredit the restoration.
I guess and tbh, I often see Clutch as a strategic bussinessman.
Nah this in fact Eggman. No One can replicate that type of Technology outside of Tails
There's just one problem with that theory. Mimic would have had to have known about Eggperial City, that it was destroyed, and that its destruction left Eggman creatively dead.

Instead of checking if her own friends are okay, she blames them and disqualifies them out of the race and insulted Tails. And the same goes for Whisper and Silver too. Like there is an assassin who can shape shift into anyone and you're not taking it seriously. That's beyond dangerously stupid. So either she has a stubbornness problem, a prideful problem, or stupid problem. For me I say it's all those 3, she's all the above. And the worst office that she's overbearing and not give other people a break because there are teenagers. Like seriously the more she's acting like this the more she's getting her team in danger. She let an assassin on her team and she disregards her friends on the road. And you're here to tell me that she is following the rules. If anything I don't think she's a good leader. An essentially her own pridefulness for this will eventually be her downfall. Yeah I'm really mad and disappointed at a Lanolin. Like she's not being a good person, she's just being a jerk.

tbh lanolin is quite harsh, she's gotta chill out a bit, i get that being a leader is a serious task and it should be taken serieoiusly, but you can't be so harsh on people and chose to be a jerk when you have a role, and other than that, this is what iv'e been waiting for and i love it.

My prediction: At the end of the arc Eggman will betray the heroes, kill Clutch, Mimic and possibly Surge and Kit and become the final boss AGAIN of the arc, just like on issue 50-61

It's like they're deliberately making her look harsh and cold for the sake of character development, not just for her, but for Tangle and Whisper too. speaking of the wolf, I'm a little concerned that she may go against Sonic in later issues, but I know she feels for Amy, Tails and Sonic in this issue from her facial expression when she took off her mask in that panel when Tangle called out Lanolin. What do YOU think? oh, and by the way @videogollumer , I'm starting to admire your passion a little bit more

While I still have leniency and hope towards her redemption, she's gonna have to learn the hard way and have some kind of comeuppance, but not before she has some kind of clarity and be shown in a more sympathetic light. there's an image on MarioKartGamerDude's community post that's written by Lanolin's artist Adam Bryce Thomas which is of a younger Lanolin in her initial outfit and with her mother, who was controlling of her (probably not canon, even though I hope it will be, but still). it's probably still there, so check it if you wish to feel more sympathy towards Lanolin, that or go to issue 58
I personally think that tangle is going to eventually get fed up with the way lanolin is acting and lash out at her.

I love this comic, but I really, REALLY, hate it when Eggman appears right in front of Sonic with no guards whatsoever. I get that they have common cause in this scene, but are we just forgetting the whole war thing? Thousands dead? I feel like this whole scene would play out better if it was an Eggman duplicate like the ones in Heroes.

Loved this issue.
Boy, I thought racing Extreme Gears was exciting, but this storyline brings it up to a whole new level.
I do NOT like how Clutch has all this "planning" happening behind everyone's backs. He's even got the Referees unknowingly doing what he wants them to do. All the while, having others that are the real cheaters (including himself), go unnoticed.
And now EGGMAN is actually HELPING Sonic. Of course it's the whole "all this helps me out" type of deal, but the way it's being played out isn't just an enjoyable story segment, it's just plain enjoyable.
I'm very anxious to see what comes next in the story. And I hope everyone will be alright from all these villians around them. Especially the New Diamond Cutters, each (official) member could be really hurt emotionally if this turns south for them individually.
Lanolin deserves it; she's the only "hero" character who is a complete pawn in this. Even Jewel is at least slightly skeptical of Clutch now. Lanolin, though, is just embarrassingly stupid compared to the rest of the "good" guys.
But where are the humans in the universe of Sonic comics?
To this day, I wanted to understand their fate during and after the war with Eggman in the Sonic Forces.
