This issue is all about Silver the Hedgehog! First, he's incredibly suspicious of the Diamond Cutters' new member and he jumps to a conclusion that leads him to some hasty accusations. Awkwardness ensues. Then, Blaze comforts Silver as they bond over being away from home and in Sonic's world.

if he does, hopefully it WILL lead to Lanolin becoming a better character and be more open minded, though i hope she doesn't actually DIE. (mind you I liked her when she was in the previous arcs) I've commented a lot on this so far because i CAN be obsessive when i feel disturbed
I think its actually ironic how lanolion treats Silver like a rookie(thats the vibes i got, could be wrong) and mistrusts Whisper. Especially since they both have seen so much and have way more experience then her.
But it goes to show just how good of a manipulator mimic is. Would've been anticlimactic if he was found out so early and easily.
Hopefully this time is used to flesh out mimic even more as a villain since he's alway felt not that important. And for lanolion to use this as a learning experience when she finally finds out she was wrong
I hope lanolion gets kicked out of the resistance, or even chewed out by amy, or both. she deserves it, she's always screwing up somehow and is a horrible leader, this is just more proof of it, she's a waste of space character that doesn't deserve to ever debut in the games. the fact she acts like she's more experienced than whisper and silver, if amy was around and saw how she treated silver, oh boy it wouldn't be pretty.

The issue was a disappointment for me, especially how Silver got written lut of the story in such a mean-spirited way. It felt like EVERYBODY screwed up just for Mimic to come out on top and Whisper being the only one left that's aware of him, and now we have to wait entire months for a direct continuation on this. If there's any solace to this however, it's that Silver and Blaze are away and adventuring from the Restoration before more trouble happens.
Vindication is obviously going to happen.
Am worried they actually have Whisper give up on getting suspicious of Mimic
It feels like such a boring way to resolve this conflict for now.
Here's what I would've changed:
1. No black-eyes Duo in Issue #63. Mimic should've been more careful.
2. The murder attempt in Issue #63 actually looks like an accident.
3. Silver & Whisper are still suspicious at the end of #63
4. In #64 everyone acts more reasonably.
5. Duo is asked to remove his gloves.
6. Mimic's suction cups are not there. Dun dun dun - plot twist. Just gotta write in some sort of explanation for that. Maybe he stole something from Starline's lab that helped him with that or maybe his abilities evolved naturally over time.
And then we reach a similar end point - Mimic is safe, Whisper doesn't think Duo is Mimic and Silver feels bummed out because of his "false" accusations and leaves the Restoration.
maybe, hopefully at some point, Whisper would start to realise she WAS right, hopefully some time before issue 70, or maybe she was never really convinced and just pretended to concede she was 'wrong', kinda like with Bart in the Simpsons episode 'the bob next door'. look it up and you'll see what I mean. Also, maybe you should send letters to IDW to request your own ideas on how mimic should be exposed and maybe when it'll happen to give yourselves some piece of mind. at least that's what I think

It makes me mad that Mimic actually got away with it, and they did my boy Silver dirty. But he gets his W in the end so it's not all bad.

gonna be honest, starting to really hate that sheep girl, she always acts like tangle and whisper and silver are the screw ups when its really her, she's a horrible leader. if anyone doesn't deserve to be a diamond cutter its not silver, its her. she could have easily been more reasonable and took whisper and silver's warning seriously, especially since whisper is a original diamond cutter and knows mimic more than them and what he's like, whisper has more experience. so yeah, that sheep girl is a bad leader and doesn't deserve to be a diamond cutter or even a member of the resistance on the front lines. she doesn't even deserve to ever be introduced in the games, such a waste of space character.

This could effect Lanolin's friendship with Silver because she's too thick to realize that Mimic is in disguise.
How is she thick headed when Mimic pretty much set Silver up and it doesn’t help the him and Whisper rushed this plan too fast and gave Mimic what he needed to maintain his cover.

hopefully she learn her lesson when Mimic reveals himself or is exposed, preferably by Whisper, Tangle or Silver, and even redeem herself by giving Mimic a serious beat down, but not enough to KILL him

but she DID reform the diamond cutters, get inside eggman's base and save Tangle from being trapped in issue 59, don't forget that. you're entitled to your opinion, and i'm entitled to mine. end. of. discussion.

You know what, To HELL with the new Diamond cutters. Especially Lanolin. They gonna be sorry when they find out Silver was right all along.
I admit, Lanolin was a bit thick headed and naïve, and I'm still irritated by it and hope she feels guilty when the truth is revealed, but let's cut them all some slack, especially her, since she did what she thought was right. And also, Whisper shouldn't be sorry since she suspected as well. of course, Silver should be a BIT sorry since he DID act a bit rashly

Whisper was bashing herself, not Silver; and Lanolin threatened Tangle with a death glare into agreeing with her. Leave them alone! Lanolin's the only bad "hero" here!

at least Tangle did, and at least she understands the situation with Whisper in that situation. maybe she'll play some part in finally unmasking Mimic and may actually believe her regardless of proof, because that's what good friends do.

@@user-tq4hw2hb2j If Lanolin wants a prayer of being likable, she's gonna have to learn HOW to be a good friend. Friendship is the very foundation of the Sonic franchise, and thus the mark of a true "Sonic Hero". Sonic has a large circle of friends; and what sets them apart from mere allies is that each of them is friends with at least one other member in the circle, not necessarily Sonic himself. Even Shadow in IDW, whom everyone deems heartless, LETS Rouge accompany him; and even that one time where he was focused almost entirely on Starline, it was Rouge in the end who managed to convince him to help Sonic stop the avalanche. Lanolin seems to think lowly of Tangle, and seems to see Whisper as nothing more than a fellow soldier (she has no room to talk, Whisper's the one who fought in the War, not her). She doesn't actually seem to be friends with any of the heroes at all! Friends trust each other; they help each other; they DON'T treat each other as expendable! Until she realizes that, she'll never be a true Sonic Hero.
The cover art still looks like a reference to that one part from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia show where Charlie Kelly went on a conspiracy rant about how he believed that someone named Pepe Silvia didn’t exist.
i'm open to ideas. either Whisper is convinced he is wrong or she's just pretending to catch Mimic off guard, but if it's the former, how can she get a second suspicion? Tangle? the Wisps? her own strength of conviction?

i think so as well, and I hope the way she (sorry Lanolin, I know you're good, but you'll have it coming) gets what coming to her is Mimic mocking her for defending him and not believing Silver, maybe even revealing what really happened in issue 63. but she's still a good sheep and she maybe likeable afterwards. but that's my opinion.

you're not going to belive this, but the next issue has also been pushed back and will debut next issue. seems maybe all of them will, meaning Mimic's reveal may come a bit later than expected
If mimic is betrayed by clutch in the havok that invades until surge, it will be refreshingly ironic.
Ngl the opposite is more likely. Mimic betrays EVERYONE, Starline made that point in the Bad Guys comic. He’s a total scumbag that’s only in it for himself. Clutch at least isn’t a traitor and is generally fine with his allies.

I understand what Silver feels, and I'm quite annoyed with Mimic, but on the other hand I also think that those who created this story must be really geniuses to be able to play with the characters' emotions.
They're playing with our emotions too; we all want Mimic dead more than ever, and most of us hate Lanolin's guts!

There are two characters that look very familiar to me that appear at several points in the comic, first one I see is at 0:32.

I think I speak for at least 80% of IDW Sonic fans when I say "Lanolin can go sheer herself!".
Oh, boy, here we go...
First off, I made a post on Tumblr that explains Lanolin's actions. I'm just going to leave an excerpt as a response:
"Fast-forward all the way to Issue #57, where Lanolin gets her chance in the spotlight, and from there, along with further issues, we get a better look at her character.
She gets startled quite easily, doesn’t approve of recklessness, and prefers to operate with a proper plan. She also has a more stoic and serious personality compared to the other characters, which I feel is a nice change of pace, and can come off as bossy to others (which I’ll dive more into later.)
She wasn’t like this in her previous appearances before 57, and I believe the reason can be attributed to the trauma the Metal Virus, as well as other minor disasters seen in the comics had on her. She doesn’t want anyone to feel scared and helpless again, which is why she formed the Diamond Cutters, and why she doesn’t seem to take well to things going wrong.
In Issue #58, she looked defeated because of the scouting of Eggperial City going wrong, and in Issue #63, she snapped at Sliver because of the training mission getting out of hand with the boulder incident (more on that in a second.)
Lanolin doesn’t know how to adapt to the unexpected, and it’s a flaw she’ll need to overcome in the future, or she may meet the same fate as a certain platypus.
Now then, onto what I’ve been wanting to talk about most: her actions and perspective in 63 and 64.
In the past three issues that have released thus far, we, the readers, have full knowledge of everything that’s been happening.
We know that Mimic has joined Clutch and disguised himself as Duo the Cat to infiltrate the Restoration and join the Diamond Cutters, so that he could get close enough to get revenge on Tangle and Whisper. We know that he sabotaged the team’s training session by kicking Silver (which Whisper managed to notice) and causing the boulders and the flood. And we know that he made Silver look bad by falling off the chair he was controlling and made it look like he had attacked him.
But Lanolin doesn’t.
From her perspective, Duo is just a new recruit who wants to make a difference and is expected to make a few mistakes. She sees him as someone she used to be. It’s why she took Duo’s side in Issue 63, when Silver accused Duo of ditching him while he was struggling to restrain the Giant Chopper from consuming him whole, because to her, Duo had only been to overwhelmed by the situation to do anything, and from her view, Silver was the one responsible for the accident, someone she had expected better control from, given his experience.
Now before you all go “OH WHAT DOES LANOLIN KNOW?! SHE’S JUST A NEWBIE AND SILVER’S THE EXPERT ON PSYCHOKINESIS! HE SAVED THE WORLD MULTIPLE TIMES!” Yes, we know he’s more talented than everyone gives him credit for. But Lanolin doesn’t. She doesn’t share the same history with him that everyone else does. If she did, she’d know that Silver would never lose control that easily unless something (or in this case, someone) sabotaged him, thus leading her to also suspect Duo.
And the same applies to 64. Lanolin asked Silver and Whisper for proof, they only responded by trying to assault who to her, was just an innocent individual who felt helpless and scared, something she never wanted anyone to feel. From her perspective, a powerful psychic and an experienced mercenary were accusing a new recruit of being some shapeshifting murderer, without even bothering so much as to offer a tad smidge of evidence that Duo was indeed a shapeshifting murderer.
And before you go: “WELL THAT DOESN’T EXCUSE HER ATTACKING WHISPER AND HER ATTITUDE!” Whisper literally made the first move by grabbing Lanolin’s arm! She was simply trying to defend herself and be rational, stating that they needed to talk about her problem as a team! As for her remark calling herself a soldier, this is one of her flaws, her bossiness, coming into play here! She’s not a perfect person, none of them are! She’s a flawed character, who’s experienced in certain aspects of leadership, but is still new to being a hero.
Silver accusing people at random isn’t anything new; we’ve seen it before in Sonic 06 and the Traitor Arc in the Archie Comics (which I personally haven’t read myself), and the reason why Whisper was too quick to act was because this is Mimic, the guy that killed the closest thing she had to a family! You really think she was just going to stand there and let him do it again? Yes, she should have acted reasonably but she let her emotions get the better of her. And it’s because of that that Duo was able to remove any suspicion.
And before you ask “WELL WHY DID LANOLIN VOTE TO KICK SILVER OUT BUT NOT WHISPER?! SHE ACCUSED DUO TOO!”, I beckon you all to look at this scene here. (can't post pictures in the comments so just go to the part where Silver chases Duo)
Duo tricked everyone into thinking that Silver was the one who attacked him, not Whisper. Had Whisper been with Silver, it’s likely she would’ve been kicked out as well.
A villain’s plan to manipulate can only work if someone’s fallen for the bait, and Lanolin is indeed one of those people. I imagine once he gets caught, Lanolin’s gonna learn from this and she and Silver will make up and all will be good.
One more thing that people’s miscomprehension has annoyed me about: the dynamic between Lanolin and Tangle.
In @molinaskies' post on Lanolin, she stated that Lanolin has an objective problem with Tangle and would go as far as to replace her. And I’m going to try to not sound too harsh here, but NO? SHE DOES NOT??
In Issue #58, Tangle was the one to comfort Lanolin when she felt defeated during the Eggperial City mission, and in Issue #59, Lanolin nearly sacrificed herself to save Tangle from the dimensional traps! And that whole gag with the pong-pong ball and Lanolin swatting it away in Issue #62 was literally just that: a gag! Lanolin definitely gets irritated by Tangle, but she doesn’t outright hate her! Would someone who wants to replace a teammate nearly get themselves killed to save said teammate?!"
Okay, that was longer than I would have liked.
Another thing I forgot to mention in the post, the reason why Lanolin took Duo's side and not Silver and Whisper's is because she's only known them for, what, a day? They only went on one mission together, and already people expect her to fully trust her teammates. She may have partial knowledge of Whisper and Silver's skills, but that doesn't mean she's been with them long enough to trust them, especially when they didn't bother presenting evidence that Duo COULD be Mimic.
As for why they didn't use Whisper's mask to present proof of Duo's misdeeds, I'll admit that I don't fully know myself and that could probably be chalked up to a writing issue on Evan's part.
Honestly, between this and you going off on Sonic for sparing Metal back in #12, I'm starting to think you don't know how to analyze scenes from different character's perspectives and what they know.

You can regurgitate whatever garbage anyone else has said in Lanolin's defense; it will make absolutely no difference. I've already heard it all; and I'm remaining firm in what I think of her until she realizes how stupid she's acting, regrets it, and gives a SINCERE apology to Silver and Whisper AND to Tangle for bullying her into siding with her.

Eh, in comic reason? Probably because Tangle's a bit of a ditz, and Whisper is insecure. Out of comic? She literally has nothing going for her, so the writer's made her leader.
I hope Whisper continues to investigate Dou ( Mimic) is not good writing if they have her just give up and doubt herself, this is the same Whisper will do anything to keep her friends safe , we don't need Whisper gets by the dumb stick just have Mimic get away with everything
maybe she WILL keep interrogating, or it'll probably be like in the Simpsons episode 'Lisa the iconoclast', when just as Lisa begins to doubt herself about Jebidiah Springfield being a pirate due to a lack of a Silver Tongue, she finds evidence that she WAS right through a ripped painting, so maybe Whisper will finally find proof. i also can't wait to see the look on Lanolin's face when she realises that she was duped into sending Silver away and defending Duo (Mimic). a shame we have to wait months. maybe even next year
according to the wiki, the cover of the unreleased issue 67 has Whisper with Duo, so maybe she'll begin to have second suspicions then. as for Surge and Kit, i'm not if they'll either help Mimic, or help expose Mimic

Bueno Silver es un personaje usado solo en momentos importantes junto con Blaze aunque siempre las apariciones de Silver llegan a ser por cosas como el metal virus o que afecten enormemente el tiempo de Sonic y el suyo por lo cual ya fue algo sorpresivo verlo sin en el pasado como si nada y sin ninguna razón aparente cuando el básicamente es el Sonic de su tiempo
La verdad es que no entiendo el hype por whisper, almenos tamales es un poco más interesante pero ya les dan más tiempo que a los personajes que han estado años :/ dejaron a silver como un imbécil de la manera más tonta

Hate this issue and how it was written. lanolion is a huge idiot in this story. I hope lanolion's bad decision will come back to haunt her and she will regret how she treated Silver. She will have to apologize for what she did. I think it will be very interesting that once they find out it was Mimic. Everyone will blame lanolion for this. lanolion will have to leave the team for awhile. She leaves the team in shame
Bad about this issue is that Silver and Blaze won't be back for awhile. I hope Silver comes back and prove lanolion wrong.
