Severance is a very special show. Am glad they're putting one episode out every week, instead of just releasing them all at one go. Gives a show a chance to build some buzz, more people get to appreciate it this way. A lot of those netflix shows, there's some chatter for a week, and then everyone just forgets about it. But 'Severance', i hope this gets cult status and people watch it years from now.
On the other hand the weeklong pause completely pulls you away from the scenario. I'd rather have it all at once and then watch it in my own tempo. Can't care less about how much "buzz" a show does or does not have to be honest, my enjoyment is wholly independant from that.
Most of my life was before binging shows existed and I always found the sweet anticipation for the next episode and talking to others about it for a week was really great. Never felt pulled from the scenario, and maybe that speaks to an era of more patience and longer attention spans vs. Todays binge and purge consumption model, but the world sure is different now.

Wow, I wasn't expecting to hear Joe McPhee's "Shakey Jake" there at the beginning of this clip (Severance). It's from 1971, the album Nation Time. I played with Joe in the early 00s when I was on the east coast. Shakey Jake is the only track he released like this: super funky; two drummers laying down a thick loose groove and Joe (tenor sax) and an alto floating over it in tandem - most of music Joe has performed is in the "free jazz/avant-garde" sphere. Also, this song has a lot more raw-ness than, say, a Maceo Parker track. I remember specifically asking him about Shakey Jake, and he said that he was always getting offers to have it added to CD compilations (This Is Funk, et al) and he always turned them down.
