When outie Mark, Dylan, and Irv went into the elevator, there was a ding. When Helena went in, no ding! The screen just fades out! I think that was final confirmation it’s Helena pretending to be Helly on the severed floor
I think that as time goes on, and Helena continues to watch the old footage of her "innie" self, she's eventually going to like her innie and side with the innies on the severed floor. Helly R has a conscience. She's who Helena would have been if she had not been corrupted and brainwashed by her family.

Yes I've been thinking about that. Persephone is underground half of the year. Persephone's mother is an Earth goddess, Demeter. When Persephone is underground, her mother misses her, the earth slowly becomes cold and everything stops growing (fall/winter).
It's entirely possible that his outie had this scene described by Reghabi, and he just painted it over and over with the hope that something would leak through to his innie, to say "look for this door". Something did leak through in the form of black paint oozing down, but I think the real "he got the message" was seeing all those paintings he left for himself to find. Now innie Irving got the message of what to look for inside, for the testing floor, where the really fun and damning stuff no doubt happens.

She's also a "follower of Kier" (remember the shrine?) and was given a job back, not HER job but A job. She probably feels for Mark, but also doesn't want to lose her chance to get back in the good graces of Kier.
I felt it was a confirmation! She wanted him to quit so she does care about him and at the same time it’s also a failure for her since her main job was to monitor Mark at ALL times to ensure the severance wasn’t slipping…or there are two severed Harmonys: one programmed for Mark’s programming and one that exists within the bowels of Lumon where ALL the real people are kept as a severed self that is also severed into two roles…that of innie and outie and this is the message the paintings conveyed.
she's mad because her cover is blown. The only thing to come of the macro data uprising is mark knowing who she is both in and out of work. Which puts her in a funked position
All it made me think of was Monster’s Inc. that monsters create situations to scare you and our boy got scared real good! He now believes his severed implant is the scarlet letter and will not be able to provide for his family if his innie whom he has no control over, acts out and gets him fired. His outie must now live in abject terror that he will betray himself and lose his job. Lumon somehow feeds on the terror it creates and allows us the reflection to think his innie now actually has the better life because he doesn’t share those fears he only desires the family he is denied…both innie and outie are being tortured by the power or possessions the other one has.
I had the idea from this show because I worked at BWW when I was in college. I asked why they couldn’t make a pill that left you normal but just forget everything that you did at work. Pretty novel idea, work sucks and most people are doing mindless task all day

0:55 Mark says he saw the body, but later says "If Ricken's body was burnt, I'd be sad for you, but it wouldn't affect me." It's implying that Gemma's body was burnt in the car crash. He could have seen a charred body resembling her, with her being alive and abducted by Lumen. Very clever way of making us doubt Gemma being alive without outright lying, huh?

IT WAS HELENA. That scene they give a lot of focus to the elevator lights and dings. After going in the elevator, the green light turns red and it “dings” symbolizing that they turned into the INNIE. But when Helena went in the elevator IT DID NOT DING. It IS HELENA.
I was unsure about it at first but you’re right and I completely agree that it is Helena..I just hope that the show doesn’t rely on that being a big reveal because I think most people already figured it out 😂
@the fact it’s been laid on so thick is the main reason I’m leaning towards it not being Helena on the severed floor, but actually Helly R after all. It almost feels too obvious at this point, as if they want everyone to notice so we don’t trust her. If they do that, I think the bigger twist to most of us would be to discover that after mistrusting her, it really was the Helly we know and love the whole time.
I think it’s a clue that reveals to us that the outies are not real either…just a ridiculous fruit basket to win favor is right up there with a waffle party…how did he carry all these fruit baskets on his bike is the question…we see him on his bike…I don’t see a bunch of bundles strapped down so where did these fruit baskets come from? They go to the trouble of showing us that all of them live in what appears to be controlled areas…we see no other signs of life. Is Devon really Mark’s sister or are all outsiders not working for Lumon actually really working for Lumon in Truman show sense that nothing we see that is presented as real life is actually real…or a completely controlled environment on a base somewhere. Lol

The 100% proof that it's Helena is the fact that if it was Helly she would use the newfound knowledge that her outie was an Eagan to try to intimidate Mr. Milkshake. She would have no reason to play along. "Hi, my name is Helly, these are my friends, my outies an Eagan. We're gonna need to speak to someone higher up please."
Oh ya. Even if it was Helly R and she was ashamed of who her outtie was, hence the lie about what she saw, she would absolutely be using that as leverage down there. This episode also throws a lot of additional hints that point to that theory. The first thing Helena asks Milkshake is to find out who they talked to and what they said, and once "Helly" comes down she really insists to get the others to tell what they saw, trying to reassure them that they are not observed (when in fact they absolutely are, by her). I get a feeling the reaction we see from her to the footage of her innie kissing Mark S also shows some kind of envy, almost like she feels excitement reliving this moment with the other version of herself. The BTS after the credits kind of hinted to that as well. I feel like this is another reason why she could want to take Helly's place down there.
In one of the trailers, it shows a large light with the words “who is alive” written on it. I think mark is going to try to burn the image into his eyes for his innie. I also think this might be Devon’s idea that she mentioned at the diner.
Fetid-smelling extremely unpleasant Moppet-a nickname , mainly for young girls. Basically just little girl, but it could also mean baby doll. I was at first confused why Eagan would basically call his daughter smelly. Then you start to think about how Fetid is usually describing something that’s gone off or bad, that smells so bad it’s wrong. He basically is saying how the Innie, Helly R, Has essentially rotted, polluted, or tainted his darling daughter Helena. To the Eagens, to Lumon and Kier, the innes for rebellious side is a virus that needs to be controlled.

The words' meaning means less than the words themselves. They are very outdated words. Words that would be more in place during the days of Kier Eagan.
I definitely saw that scene as Helena envying the connection that Helly R has made, especially after seeing the interaction with her father. Ironically, it looks like she covets the "freedom" Helly R has to be whoever she wants to be without the constraints and pressure from her family.

Cobel is not severed. In Season 1, Episode 7, Mark looks at the elevator control panel when he and Helly get into the security room. Cobel is shown on the Non-Severed portion of the control panel and her trip is from the Exec. Ste. floor to the Severed floor.
her severance could be triggered in other ways. like the senator's wife doesn't go down to the severed floor to access her innie. and if helena is indeed down there, it also means the severed floor does not automatically sever ppl but needs to be triggered.
12:39 I thought it was odd that in Mark’s rebuttal to Devon’s claim to be affected by Gemma’s, he chooses to use the example of Ricken’s body being burned. At Pip’s he also said that he is the one that identified Gemma’s body and I’m wondering if her body was so badly disfigured or burned in the crash to the point where Lumon could’ve used any random cadaver that looked close enough to Gemma when charred? Like maybe he didn’t actually identify Gemma and she’s indeed on the testing floor versus it being a clone like some theorize. Idk, it just seemed intentional for him to use a hypothetical of Ricken being burned versus just saying “if Ricken died in a car accident I’d be sad for you but not affected”.

Or two accidents. The first maybe really was an accident…or attempt to stop her and she went into the water, was then retrieved and brought back to Lumon for control. Then Lumon staged an accident that involved a charred body with her clothes, a car exactly like the one she had, etc…just enough to convince Mark and since the town they live in isn’t real…that was the extent of any investigation…right? But the big question is why take the chance of having her interact with Mark’s innie? How is it that Mark doesn’t recognize her? Same way Mark doesn’t recognize his sister…this is about memory wiping and rewriting and testing if the new narrative sticks or bleeds into the separate new narrative. So, if you are one person who gets severed and then the severed entity gets severed into 2: innie and outie and then those two begin to bleed into each other but since both are false narratives…how does this bleed into the original? Is this just breaking down how MK Ultra mind control works? Using trauma to create alters that are unaware of each other.
Also, does anyone notice that the lumon elevator guard, John or Judd, always says good morning and good night to Mark but he doesn’t say anything to the other employees.

Thinking about Irv (outtie) forcing himself to paint ALL the time on the off chance that his innie might wake up, in order to send him the message about the elevator arrow is absolutely devastating. In trying to save his Innie and all of the severed employees, Irv’s outtie has made himself as much of a prisoner to Lumen as his innie is :(

This means something for sure -Irving is the creator of all the artwork on the severed floor. -The town of Kier is not an ordinary place but an elaborate experiment where all residents are/were part of some Lumon experiment -Lumon might exist in a parallel universe-a reality where Kier, PE exists
I think Rebecks comment is just to show how completely self centered and obnoxious Rickons friends are. Also just a bit of light hearted dialogue. Not every sentence or word has to have a hidden meaning

There are 2 clues that I can’t get out of my head. In the second episode of season 1, when they were discussing Peteys disappearing, Mark said “he could be drunk on a beach somewhere or he could be dead”. As soon as he said that, Mr. Milcheck said “death doesn’t happen in Lumon. We are protected from things like death in here”. I think that is an important line. Also, the fact that Ms Cobel/Selvig drives a White Rabbit seems like something we are supposed to notice.

So first, I want to say Severance is one of my favorite shows in a very long time. That being said, these videos are so awesome. It’s really cool to be able to watch the episode and then have somewhere to go and reflect on it. This show has so many small, intricate details that if you blink, you might miss them (like the car in the water during the intro). These videos honestly make the show that much better. I look forward to these videos almost as much as I look forward to each new episode of the show itself.
This show (and internet videos and chatter) remind me a lot of Lost. The subsequent fan theories and speculation help enhance the enjoyment of the show. Same goes for Silo.
Mark and Helena outies have met when Mark almost hit her with the car in the pilot episode. I am pretty sure Mr Drummond was the guy watching Mark from the former wellness center in the beginning of episode 201. At the end of the new intro, you see both Helly and Ms Casey in the elevator for the testing room floor.
I think that Milchik saying that Mark innie's love bleeding out into Mark outie isn't that far off. Mark innie was making sculpture of trees in seasons 1, and Mark's wife died in a car accident where her vehicle crashed into a tree. He was still feeling the outie's pain, just didn't know what it was or where it came from.
Actually they have decided to bring other innies back on the day 3 (Wed?), so there were no reason to start working on the video earlier. It means they had like 24h to do it.
Ms Casey has to be alive. Mark did say he saw her body but then indirectly notes that she was badly burnt; I can't imagine a way in which the show can magic up an explanation for having a clone of his wife and that would be an awful end to a thread that has propelled the story to this point
they could link the clone thing to why there is so many sheep and their overall plan would be to bring forth a clone of kier with his full memories in a severed chip

I think the entire town is involved in an experiment. Possibly, Ms. Cobel will play a big role as a tangible link to bring the innie/outtie worlds together. Her being seen in an underground cave could somehow lead into the Lumon building, and this may be how Mark enters the building as an outtie. Her reaction to his question, "do you know something about Gemma?" was so intriguing! She seemed to really want to say something at first, but is probably sworn to secrecy, knows she's being watched, and/or hates herself for knowing what's actually happening, which is why she freaked out. I think she was extremely loyal to Lumon, but the tides are turning because of her "promotion" ...
I think the message that irv wants to give was the painting in his room that is why he was continuously drawing the same painting so that his innie can picture it
They are working on a way to bring back the founder Kier Egan, hence why in the title sequence we see a baby version of him by Mark. Gemma is a test to make sure they will be able to bring him back safely which is why Mark is needed so badly.

This is a show that definitely benefits from weekly releases, you can't do justice to the theorizing after every episode and having time to proccess each episode correctly with a full release, it also kinda benefits writing in this case as every episode is good enough to generate good discussions about it, if it released at once we would all just be talking about the finale right know which isn't that fun
We wouldn’t be able to have discussions of every episode like this if they were all dumped at once. I, too, can’t wait to see how the whole season plays out (and binge it after the finale drops!), but this reminds me of the reviews and fan participation of HBO shows like the Sopranos and Game of Thrones.
When they show news footage in season 1, it looks pretty modern (when Natalie defends Severance). I think lumon is using old tech because of some weird reason. It seems like outside of Lumon, things are very modern. Even the Keir expo event Helly gives her speech at looked like an Apple event.
As for the baby goats, I wonder if it's significant that the very first time we see Irv he calls his coworkers "kids." I wish I were joking, but with this show you just can't tell. Yes, Mark says he identified Gemma's body, but he also says it was "burned" (actually he says that about Ricken's body when he's hypothesizing about how he'd feel if what happened to his wife happened to his brother-in-law). So perhaps he didn't see who he thinks he saw.
Helena almost looks envious of Helly when she kisses Mark, my theory is that Helena has never been in a relationship or kissed anybody before, I'm betting she wanted to return unsevered to steal Helly's relationship for herself. I have a feeling Mark will discover this towards the end of the season, and we'll get the real Helly back on the last episode.
People that know a person best can help recreate their brain patterns using the numbers. Ms Cobel knew Kier personally, maybe she was the great grand child or something. So if they can get their mind recreation tech right, she’s one of the only people that can help recreate Kier’s brain.
I also liked how mark has to Beta fish. A red one and a blue one. I forget what we used to call them in the 70s, something fighting fish? You could see how he has to keep them separated although they share the same home, the are divided and don't even know the other one exists, because if they knew they would kill themselves in order to kill the other. Or so they say. I always wondered how the mated if it was the green light on sight for them fish ?😅
The male and female betta fish can be placed in one tank together when she has eggs ready for fertilisation, and they do a mating dance. In captivity, betta fish have to be separated again after the male has fertilised the eggs so he doesn't kill the tiny baby fish when then leave their egg sack.
Fun Fact, the Statue on top of the Capital building in DC, is of Persephone. Blew me away when I first learned it. Seems even more ominous in 2025 than it did in 2001.
The food element is bizarre in this show and you spoke of it before (like the foodless dinner), and yet again, we have Devon taking Mark for some "crappy food" only to see them water. And what of the pineapples? Even Cobel mentions it. I just KNEW very little time had passed, and was surprised to be so correct (couple days). Everyone had picked up on how last minute the office seemed, now we know why for sure. I was watching the clock very closely and am glad that you speak of the 12 minute day. Did he not go anywhere and just come back on the "3rd" day"? Anyone a lot of the story line explained questions of lasy weel... as for Cobel SHE KNOWS... Her face when Mark asked! I don't think she's severed. And I was odd watching Helena watching Helly's koss with Mark... slow it, replay it... envious or just needing to replicate it? Every video you pick up on minute details, like the words on Helly/Helena's computer that means "invasion of the Body Snatchers" and others like it, I am impressed with your attention you detail and how you put in together n such a short time! Keep it up! Looking forward for the rest of the season!
Interesting things I noticed new intro sequence (not in any order): - Possible jars with severed (?) people inside with some goo. Might be how they keep full time severed employee's alive - Musical instruments (white = fabricated like in O&D?) coming out of Irv's coffee mug - Goat dept with innie Mark carrying outtie Mark on one side & vice versa on the opposite end. There are bodies without heads but large balloon heads of Gemma on oMark's side and Helly on iMark's side. - Testing lab hallway has Gemma inside the elevator then Helly in her place as we get closer. - Baby Keir Eagan, possibly representing his rebirth or "revolving"??
Why was Helena Eagan not in a Limo being whisked back to her Palatial Estate? Where was her Security Detail? She's the heir to Lumon, and she's just going to her car way out in the Normal People Parking Lot? I know they needed to do this for the Season One Super Reveal, but I think this is one of the few things they're hoping you don't notice. :p

She might even secretly hate doing it, but I believe she would expect to be pampered on the way in and out, as she would undoubtedly be used to by now. Also, Security? She's TERRIBLY important, and this is the place where she would be the MOST Famous, so there really should be a VIP Entrance for Lumon Celebs. Doesn't detract from the show at all for me, I just think it was a little compromise the Writers made to hide the big Season One Reveal. :)

I’m convinced Cobel/Selvig is both Harmony and her mother Charolette. I think Lumon is in the pursuit of attaining immortality via implanting the wealth class into working class bodies, and Charolette injected into Harmony at a young age when she was diagnosed with a terminal illness was an early attempt at this process, to messy results. This explains her erratic behavior and her weird hangups about children.

I was going to say the new intro deserves its own video, there is so much going on. The main parts are the balloon heads, the versions of mark taking care/intertwining with one another and the main objective...the faceless babies, as we eventually see a baby with the head of Kier attached later in the intro. This is a telling clue about what the plan inside of the plan is. I paused and rewound this intro so many time and broke it down piece by piece.
To back up the theory that the events in Severance take place in another universe, similar to ours, I noticed in the first episodes how strange the people at the dinner party with Mark's sister and Rickens family/friends, and the way they all talked about history was completely different that ours. They also said something about going to dinner and not eating? Something like that. It made me feel like it was a fictional, with a different culture, dialect, and customs, compared to our non-fiction.
I think the Kier Chronicle volume number (51903) is another hint that this show is set in a world similar to ours but not the same. If it’s a daily publication starting from 1893 (as stated on the top of the newspaper) that would place the current year around 2035.
Okay my theory is given the fact that the severed employees have a chip I think all people in PE have a chip which is either not active or certain things other than work are severed - explaining perhaps the strangeness of comments about not punishing the baby and so on

Persephone is the Queen of the underworld, but only half of the time, because her mother, Demeter, the goddess of crops and fertility, freaks out when her daughter goes back down to the underworld and basically goes on strike, which is why for half the year we have Fall and Winter and then when Persephone returns from the underworld, she cheers up and does her job and we have Spring and Summer. Persephone literally has an innie in Hades and an outie as Demeter’s daughter in the world of new life growing into crops. Interesting, no?
i noticed at the end of the ep whenever they were getting scanned by judd before entering the elevator, everyone except for helena was scanned on the front of their body. Helena was the only one scanned from the back. My little theory is that the scanner can somehow interrupt the chips allowing helena to go in as herself without switching. It’s sort of a long shot but still.
So they’d give the security guy the switch to turn people on and off? What if the guy gets sleepy and does not swipe correctly and the outie gets on the severed floor?
There was probably a Previous Incident where somebody got lazy and accidentally grazed some Lady's boobs with the wand, so they just instituted a Protocol where everybody scans Women from the back now. ;)

It's still unknown forsure what data they're refining but it's been shown they're organizing the four tempers into the five boxes at the bottom of their computer displays and they have to be distributed evenly across the five boxes. I find the fact that Lumon specifically needs Mark S. to return to work to "complete Cold Harbour" interesting, as this confirms the connection between them and the work they're doing, but also raises the question on why its so important
Ding or not ding, I'm sure it's Helly R because the board decided. They can't go against the board because I think the board is some sort of an AI or something. So, the show is just playing us leaving false tips that it's Helena. Also, I think Helly R is very smart and it's not that she lied in the previous episode I think she is being extra careful and that's why she is withholding information for now. I'm sure she will come clean after some time. Anyways, this is my theory.
I feel it would be pretty dull if it was just Helly R. The directors/producers/writers would not choose the boring option of leaving false tips; it would be more interesting if it was Helena with more options to explore. Plus, I do feel as if Helena has some feelings for Mark as she replayed the video of Helly R and Mark kissing, which I feel as if she would not do unless she had feelings or she was disgusted because they are related.

So, innies are more connected to their subconscious mind. That's why they have that "scary numbers" program that they do and some other weird jobs. They use the innies to solve complex problems that outies cannot solve. The board is some sort of super being machine that is trying to solve major problems to save humanity :))))

Now innie Irving got the message of what to look for inside, for the testing floor, where the really fun and damning stuff no doubt happens.
I think when Cobel freaked out in the end it’s because she has sympathy for Mark. She hates herself for wanting to tell him or doubting herself.

All it made me think of was Monster’s Inc. that monsters create situations to scare you and our boy got scared real good! He now believes his severed implant is the scarlet letter and will not be able to provide for his family if his innie whom he has no control over, acts out and gets him fired. His outie must now live in abject terror that he will betray himself and lose his job. Lumon somehow feeds on the terror it creates and allows us the reflection to think his innie now actually has the better life because he doesn’t share those fears he only desires the family he is denied…both innie and outie are being tortured by the power or possessions the other one has.
I had the idea from this show because I worked at BWW when I was in college. I asked why they couldn’t make a pill that left you normal but just forget everything that you did at work. Pretty novel idea, work sucks and most people are doing mindless task all day

Mark says he saw the body, but later says "If Ricken's body was burnt, I'd be sad for you, but it wouldn't affect me." It's implying that Gemma's body was burnt in the car crash. He could have seen a charred body resembling her, with her being alive and abducted by Lumen.

That scene they give a lot of focus to the elevator lights and dings. After going in the elevator, the green light turns red and it “dings” symbolizing that they turned into the INNIE.
But when Helena went in the elevator IT DID NOT DING. It IS HELENA.
Watch again and notice the pattern. The camera even stays a while at the silent elevator after she leaves SO YOU CAN NOTICE IT DOES NOT DING!
I was unsure about it at first but you’re right and I completely agree that it is Helena..I just hope that the show doesn’t rely on that being a big reveal because I think most people already figured it out 😂

It almost feels too obvious at this point, as if they want everyone to notice so we don’t trust her. If they do that, I think the bigger twist to most of us would be to discover that after mistrusting her, it really was the Helly we know and love the whole time.

This episode also throws a lot of additional hints that point to that theory. The first thing Helena asks Milkshake is to find out who they talked to and what they said, and once "Helly" comes down she really insists to get the others to tell what they saw, trying to reassure them that they are not observed (when in fact they absolutely are, by her).
I get a feeling the reaction we see from her to the footage of her innie kissing Mark S also shows some kind of envy, almost like she feels excitement reliving this moment with the other version of herself. The BTS after the credits kind of hinted to that as well. I feel like this is another reason why she could want to take Helly's place down there.

her severance could be triggered in other ways. like the senator's wife doesn't go down to the severed floor to access her innie. and if helena is indeed down there, it also means the severed floor does not automatically sever ppl but needs to be triggered.

Same way Mark doesn’t recognize his sister…this is about memory wiping and rewriting and testing if the new narrative sticks or bleeds into the separate new narrative.
So, if you are one person who gets severed and then the severed entity gets severed into 2: innie and outie and then those two begin to bleed into each other but since both are false narratives…how does this bleed into the original?

Thinking about Irv (outtie) forcing himself to paint ALL the time on the off chance that his innie might wake up, in order to send him the message about the elevator arrow is absolutely devastating. -What the heck do you make about Rebecks comment about not punishing the baby because it wasn’t “it’s” fault? What!?? This means something for sure

-The town of Kier is not an ordinary place but an elaborate experiment where all residents are/were part of some Lumon experiment
-Lumon might exist in a parallel universe-a reality where Kier, PE exists

There are 2 clues that I can’t get out of my head. In the second episode of season 1, when they were discussing Peteys disappearing, Mark said “he could be drunk on a beach somewhere or he could be dead”. As soon as he said that, Mr. Milcheck said “death doesn’t happen in Lumon. We are protected from things like death in here”. I think that is an important line. Also, the fact that Ms Cobel/Selvig drives a White Rabbit seems like something we are supposed to notice.

I watched on my phone, so could hardly even see who it was!
So first, I want to say Severance is one of my favorite shows in a very long time. That being said, these videos are so awesome. It’s really cool to be able to watch the episode and then have somewhere to go and reflect on it. This show has so many small, intricate details that if you blink, you might miss them (like the car in the water during the intro). These videos honestly make the show that much better. I look forward to these videos almost as much as I look forward to each new episode of the show itself.
This show (and internet videos and chatter) remind me a lot of Lost. The subsequent fan theories and speculation help enhance the enjoyment of the show. Same goes for Silo.
Mark and Helena outies have met when Mark almost hit her with the car in the pilot episode. I am pretty sure Mr Drummond was the guy watching Mark from the former wellness center in the beginning of episode 201. At the end of the new intro, you see both Helly and Ms Casey in the elevator for the testing room floor.

I think that Milchik saying that Mark innie's love bleeding out into Mark outie isn't that far off. Mark innie was making sculpture of trees in seasons 1, and Mark's wife died in a car accident where her vehicle crashed into a tree. Ms Casey has to be alive. Mark did say he saw her body but then indirectly notes that she was badly burnt; I can't imagine a way in which the show can magic up an explanation for having a clone of his wife and that would be an awful end to a thread that has propelled the story to this point
they could link the clone thing to why there is so many sheep and their overall plan would be to bring forth a clone of kier with his full memories in a severed chip

I think the entire town is involved in an experiment. Possibly, Ms. Cobel will play a big role as a tangible link to bring the innie/outtie worlds together. Her being seen in an underground cave could somehow lead into the Lumon building, and this may be how Mark enters the building as an outtie. Her reaction to his question, "do you know something about Gemma?" was so intriguing! She seemed to really want to say something at first, but is probably sworn to secrecy, knows she's being watched, and/or hates herself for knowing what's actually happening, which is why she freaked out. I think she was extremely loyal to Lumon, but the tides are turning because of her "promotion" ...
What if Burt isn’t severed. The way he intervened when Milchick asked him to leave his farewell was suspicious.. then he’s at Irv’s address?

They are working on a way to bring back the founder Kier Egan, hence why in the title sequence we see a baby version of him by Mark. Gemma is a test to make sure they will be able to bring him back safely which is why Mark is needed so badly.

This is a show that definitely benefits from weekly releases, you can't do justice to the theorizing after every episode and having time to proccess each episode correctly with a full release, it also kinda benefits writing in this case as every episode is good enough to generate good discussions about it, if it released at once we would all just be talking about the finale right know which isn't that fun
We wouldn’t be able to have discussions of every episode like this if they were all dumped at once. I, too, can’t wait to see how the whole season plays out (and binge it after the finale drops!), but this reminds me of the reviews and fan participation of HBO shows like the Sopranos and Game of Thrones.

When they show news footage in season 1, it looks pretty modern (when Natalie defends Severance). I think lumon is using old tech because of some weird reason. It seems like outside of Lumon, things are very modern. Even the Keir expo event Helly gives her speech at looked like an Apple event.

Yes, Mark says he identified Gemma's body, but he also says it was "burned" (actually he says that about Ricken's body when he's hypothesizing about how he'd feel if what happened to his wife happened to his brother-in-law). So perhaps he didn't see who he thinks he saw.
Helena almost looks envious of Helly when she kisses Mark, my theory is that Helena has never been in a relationship or kissed anybody before, I'm betting she wanted to return unsevered to steal Helly's relationship for herself. I have a feeling Mark will discover this towards the end of the season, and we'll get the real Helly back on the last episode.
People that know a person best can help recreate their brain patterns using the numbers. Ms Cobel knew Kier personally, maybe she was the great grand child or something. So if they can get their mind recreation tech right, she’s one of the only people that can help recreate Kier’s brain.
I also liked how mark has to Beta fish. A red one and a blue one. I forget what we used to call them in the 70s, something fighting fish?
You could see how he has to keep them separated although they share the same home, the are divided and don't even know the other one exists, because if they knew they would kill themselves in order to kill the other. Or so they say.

The food element is bizarre in this show and you spoke of it before (like the foodless dinner), and yet again, we have Devon taking Mark for some "crappy food" only to see them water. And what of the pineapples? Even Cobel mentions it. I just KNEW very little time had passed, and was surprised to be so correct (couple days). Everyone had picked up on how last minute the office seemed, now we know why for sure. I was watching the clock very closely and am glad that you speak of the 12 minute day. Did he not go anywhere and just come back on the "3rd" day"? Anyone a lot of the story line explained questions of lasy weel... as for Cobel SHE KNOWS... Her face when Mark asked! I don't think she's severed. And I was odd watching Helena watching Helly's koss with Mark... slow it, replay it... envious or just needing to replicate it?
Every video you pick up on minute details, like the words on Helly/Helena's computer that means "invasion of the Body Snatchers" and others like it, I am impressed with your attention you detail and how you put in together n such a short time! Keep it up! Looking forward for the rest of the season!
Interesting things I noticed new intro sequence (not in any order):
- Possible jars with severed (?) people inside with some goo. Might be how they keep full time severed employee's alive
- Musical instruments (white = fabricated like in O&D?) coming out of Irv's coffee mug
- Goat dept with innie Mark carrying outtie Mark on one side & vice versa on the opposite end. There are bodies without heads but large balloon heads of Gemma on oMark's side and Helly on iMark's side.
- Testing lab hallway has Gemma inside the elevator then Helly in her place as we get closer.
- Baby Keir Eagan, possibly representing his rebirth or "revolving"??

Also, Security? She's TERRIBLY important, and this is the place where she would be the MOST Famous, so there really should be a VIP Entrance for Lumon Celebs.
Doesn't detract from the show at all for me, I just think it was a little compromise the Writers made to hide the big Season One Reveal. :)

I’m convinced Cobel/Selvig is both Harmony and her mother Charolette. I think Lumon is in the pursuit of attaining immortality via implanting the wealth class into working class bodies, and Charolette injected into Harmony at a young age when she was diagnosed with a terminal illness was an early attempt at this process, to messy results.
This explains her erratic behavior and her weird hangups about children.

I was going to say the new intro deserves its own video, there is so much going on. The main parts are the balloon heads, the versions of mark taking care/intertwining with one another and the main objective...the faceless babies, as we eventually see a baby with the head of Kier attached later in the intro. This is a telling clue about what the plan inside of the plan is. I paused and rewound this intro so many time and broke it down piece by piece.

To back up the theory that the events in Severance take place in another universe, similar to ours, I noticed in the first episodes how strange the people at the dinner party with Mark's sister and Rickens family/friends, and the way they all talked about history was completely different that ours. They also said something about going to dinner and not eating? Something like that. It made me feel like it was a fictional, with a different culture, dialect, and customs, compared to our non-fiction.
They did talk about WWI and WWII

I think the Kier Chronicle volume number (51903) is another hint that this show is set in a world similar to ours but not the same. If it’s a daily publication starting from 1893 (as stated on the top of the newspaper) that would place the current year around 2035.
Okay my theory is given the fact that the severed employees have a chip I think all people in PE have a chip which is either not active or certain things other than work are severed - explaining perhaps the strangeness of comments about not punishing the baby and so on

Persephone is the Queen of the underworld, but only half of the time, because her mother, Demeter, the goddess of crops and fertility, freaks out when her daughter goes back down to the underworld and basically goes on strike, which is why for half the year we have Fall and Winter and then when Persephone returns from the underworld, she cheers up and does her job and we have Spring and Summer. Persephone literally has an innie in Hades and an outie as Demeter’s daughter in the world of new life growing into crops. Interesting, no?
i noticed at the end of the ep whenever they were getting scanned by judd before entering the elevator, everyone except for helena was scanned on the front of their body. Helena was the only one scanned from the back. My little theory is that the scanner can somehow interrupt the chips allowing helena to go in as herself without switching. It’s sort of a long shot but still.
So they’d give the security guy the switch to turn people on and off? What if the guy gets sleepy and does not swipe correctly and the outie gets on the severed floor?

It's still unknown forsure what data they're refining but it's been shown they're organizing the four tempers into the five boxes at the bottom of their computer displays and they have to be distributed evenly across the five boxes. Whether it's managing someone's tempers or rewiring their brain or chip or memories, is up to speculation. but the fact that Mark is/was closest to Gemma, he has the best ability to refine her data the quickest and easiest.
Especially since Dylan is the highest performing in the group, you'd think he'd be more valuable. They specific want mark unrelated to performance.

15:34, they have actually seen each other in the outside world. early on in season 1 episode 1 when mark was driving he almost hit helena in the lumon parking lot because he was a little distraught and she told him to keep his eyes on the icy road
I find the fact that Lumon specifically needs Mark S. to return to work to "complete Cold Harbour" interesting, as this confirms the connection between them and the work they're doing, but also raises the question on why its so important
Ding or not ding, I'm sure it's Helly R because the board decided. They can't go against the board because I think the board is some sort of an AI or something. So, the show is just playing us leaving false tips that it's Helena. Also, I think Helly R is very smart and it's not that she lied in the previous episode I think she is being extra careful and that's why she is withholding information for now. I'm sure she will come clean after some time. Anyways, this is my theory.
I feel it would be pretty dull if it was just Helly R. The directors/producers/writers would not choose the boring option of leaving false tips; it would be more interesting if it was Helena with more options to explore. Plus, I do feel as if Helena has some feelings for Mark as she replayed the video of Helly R and Mark kissing, which I feel as if she would not do unless she had feelings or she was disgusted because they are related.

So, innies are more connected to their subconscious mind. That's why they have that "scary numbers" program that they do and some other weird jobs.
