Im now 51 years old. I havent played WoW since before the release of Pandaren, so spring 2013 something. I played the Vanilla first, or me and my son did, and then we bought The Burning Crusade and I was hooked to this game, I LOVED IT! As the old fart I am I loved to play hunter. I tried others but hunter, wow, that was the class for me. I left my last character, a female trollhunter named Looferr lvl 85, standing in Orgrimmar. All purples, great at Dps and with a lot of stuff gathered over the years. I have a nightelf hunter to, my first char, named RodeOrm. He stands in Stormwind at lvl 80 i think. Great times and much fun! And now to the mounts. I have a few of those you counted in your video. The tigers who was a real s.o.b to get as you said. Skinning and leatherwork got them for me. I got the brewfest Ram. I also got the headless horsemans horse and a holiday reindeer, both flymounts. I was lucky with the drop on the reindeer, we all wanted It and i got It. You had to do a holiday dungeon of some sort to get it and It didnt drop that often! I remember one time I was killing regular npc:s outside Booty Bay and I got my hands on my first epic item, a staff I could´nt use so I sold it and got 100G. That was a lot of money back then for my lvl 40 something hunter. The only world epic drop I ever got was also the Staff of Jordan. (Dropped in Azshara) It was a fairly common epic drop apparently, as far as commonality goes with epic world drops. Made me limp pretty fast, sold for only 65 G lol

Errors: I forgot about the Blizzcon 2017 mounts: The Stormwind Skychaser(www.wowhead.com/item=151618/stormwind-skychaser) and the Orgrimmar Interceptor(www.wowhead.com/item=151617/orgrimmar-interceptor). They're still technically obtainable since you can buy them through ebay(against tos though). Should have still mentioned them though...my bad! The Violet spellwing is still obtainable until the 14th, so you still have a few more days! In fact, the ahead of the curve mounts were obtainable until the next xpac's launch(not the prepatch like I said in the video) Been doing some mount farming while waiting for BfA. Thought this would make for an interesting video! If I missed any I'll edit this post. BTW, does anyone have any recommendations for a model viewer for WoW? There's one called WoW model viewer, but I've been having trouble with crashes and whatnot. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

I believe there were some armorless horses the alliance got, which got some updated models and the player was able to choose between keeping their armorless horse or replacing it with the new armored ones. Shortly after the armorless horses were no longer available, replaced by the new armored counterparts.
Yeah I was gonna comment that, I remember getting a lot of questions about the Swift Zhevra and also the X53 Touring Rocket you got in Wrath from the same thing, managed to get a few cause my mate was constantly making new accounts 😂 got the Cataclysm one too, think it was called the Obsidian Nightwing or something.
I think that, for the trial of the grand crusader 10 man version mounts(swift horde wolf), the mounts were not a reward for tribute to immortality(completing the raid without a single death), but rather tribute to insanity, which only required to finish the raid with 50 attempts left.
And the horde wolf you get from that, the eyes on the wolf was red from the start and blizzard change the eyes to green some patch later, dont know the reason tho, maby they change it back.

About the gladiator mounts, when they first came in Burning Crusade then the Gladiator dragons were the only ones with a speed of 310% (Ashes might've had that too, I don't remember well. But the part about the glad drakes I remember very well.).
I remember, the last day you could get the armani war bear, it was MY turn to receive it. But exactly at that run we failed... I never received the mount after helping so many others :/ Damn it!

Got my Swift Zulian Tiger back in 2009 and it's still the only ground mount I use to this day. Wish there was a way to see how many miles I've rode it.
I also have it, although I haven't played since early WoD. Got it just before Cata launched, spending countless tries soloing ZG as a rogue. From that point on, it was my only ground mount used.
A few months ago I encountered a player by several occasions while doing random battlegrounds. He had the Ancient Frostsaber (it does not have stripes, it’s just white with a purple saddle). I had never seen an old epic mount in game before, so I got a bit excited and whispered him. He told me he rarely got asked about it because people just don’t know what is is and the rarity of it. He also told me he believed he and another player from an American server were the only two who still had one (with active accounts). Later on, completely random, I got recommended a video here on TH-cam of a someone selling their account, and it was him. It revealed that he also had the Black Ram, which means he obtained two epic mounts before patch 1.4 and decided not to turn them in. He also had the Corrupted Ashbringer, the AQ mount and a lot of other cool items, like the Icebane Plate-set from Naxxramas 40. Probably the most valuable account to this day.
do you actually think that horses are cool mounts? then BFA will be your favourite expansion with more horses than you can imagine. ps: mounts are still cool. expectations just rise over the expansions. we don't want to tigers when we can have stuff that can fly. tiger with wings is a great compromise tho.
Mounts doesn't need to be able to fly to be cool. My favorite mounts are ground mounts like Midnight, Zulian tiger, the infernal mounts from guldan and the flametalon mounts.
I got the Swift Horde Wolf by accident! Tanked a 10m ToC and we smashed it in less than two hours and we had this chest at the end. Didn't know a mount dropped but rolled and won! Best luck ever the wolf is a killer mount!

I remember getting my core hound. I played during vanilla and remembered every fight in MC. I was a noob back then and I had never led a raid in my life, but I took the wheel during the LFR MC, taking time to explain to everyone what they needed to do from memory (I know it's easy to look at addons and everything). Slowly leading a group of 40 idiots to victory and getting complimented afterwards for the smooth run definitely was a great experience. You could call it a "core" memory hueheuheuheuhe....
I know, I'm just saying that MadSeason says very correctly that the Ancient Frostsaber is an Unobtainable mount but he mistakenly shows the wrong Frostsaber mount, the one with stripes.
MageTower Mania I know. Thats why I said that he might had problems searching for the model. You have NPCs riding Black Nightsabers in darnassus for example, but the Ancient one cant be found anywhere ingame

This code is considered as a real life item, and thus may not be sold for in-game currency as stated in the policy, but it can be bought with out of game currency (money). However, when you want to get the actual item in-game, you will have to redeem the code on the Blizzard Promotion page The page requires you to select a realm to redeem the loot code on. After successfully redeeming a code, you will be provided by another code: the in-game code. 3:20 also don't forget about the weight limit. Cows couldn't ride Raptors or UD mounts because we were so damn heavy. The ZG Raptor mount was the only one we could use during most of vanilla. Think they got rid of the restrictions in the pre BC patch.
The coolest things about these mounts, is how the hell people figured this stuff out without online databases and youtube. You were in awe if you ever saw one of these mounts. They were constantly asked how they did it. I knew a guy who didn't use his because he was spammed by people asking how he got it all the time, LOL. One of those things which made the game feel truly alive and unique. You could only salute those smart enough to figure all this out on their own. It's not possible to compare to todays culture when you can just look something up. If you were lucky enough to know one of these sages with the secret knowledge how to get one of these mounts, you were struck with the INSANE grind involved. It didn't seem feasible. But the madlads did it. Salute
The ZG mount removal was the worst. I farmed both of those for so long and never got them. Still farming for the panther now but I really would’ve liked to get that tiger.
The Wolf and Moose both where on the 2nd hardest difficulty. During MoP it went LFR - Flex - Normal - Heroic During WoD it went LFR - Normal - Heroic - Mythic So both mounts where just as hard to achieve. Both mounts came from getting the "Ahead of the Curve" achievement.

The brewfest kodo is real i am riding on it right now! You are missing a couple of promotional/ recruit a friend once like the Zevra / obsidian Nighwing and Emerald Hippogryph.
great video, however the violet spellwing is still obtainable right now in the pre-patch, as it isn't tied to AoTC, but rather an item that drops from argus that starts a quest to get the mount. a buddy of mine resubbed and got his yesterday. it will be going away though next week when BFA launches, and will be unobtainable.
These retrospectives are much more enjoyable than the videos focused on more modern content. There are a million people going over the new stuff. There are very few who were both present during the early game, and knowledgeable enough to make enjoyable videos about the early game. More like this MadSeason! You rule.

If I remember correctly the Brewfest Kodo was a rare drop in the mini instance you could run daily in BRD. I just know one of my guild mates had it in BC and I was so jealous. I had the ram, but since bag/bank space was at a premium I eventually deleted it since I never rode it.
You actually got both plaguebat and hyppo if you completed BFA prepatch event as any faction. Still, they are faction locked, so you can only use them on their respective factions.
small correction thou the orginal amani bear was removed start of wrath as a timed run reward, also the ToC mount not only required you to clear it without anyone dying, it also had to be on your first try of the week

Oh wow I thought the primal flamesaber was just a normal promotional mount not a rare one because that was when I got blizzard XD, I played heroes a lot in 2017
Bit of a correction with the Grove Warden and Violet Spellwing: both of those mounts were available through the prepatch, they were only/are only going to be removed with the launch of each expansion. It's a pretty big misconception on the internet that these mounts get removed with the prepatch it seems like, but I know from personal experience that they're available until the next expansion launches as I've gotten both in the respective prepatches. That means that, as of writing this comment, you have 4 more days to get Violet Spellwing if you still don't have it. I'm not sure whether the SoO mount was available in the Warlord's prepatch though. Another slight correction, albeit a very slight one: you obtain both the Undercity Plaguebat and the Teldrassil Hippogryph for doing either the Alliance or Horde prepatch quests up to the burning of Teldrassil. This one is incredibly easy to miss, as it doesn't seem that Blizzard has mentioned anywhere that this is the case and the only mention of it that I can find online is one comment on a forum post. I only found this out myself when I went to do the quest with an Alliance toon and the Teldrassil Hippogryph popped up when I went to mount up halfway through the quest chain.
Would be cool if they made it so that you could obtain old mounts from wow classic. Would make it worth to play. Now I just feel like I would be literally wasting my time if I played it.
Great video. Just some clarification on some infos that were presented wrong. The korkron warwolf was indeed obtainable in SoO Normal, but at the time, the progression were LFR > Flex > Normal > Heroic, then in that prepatch they renamed them for LFR > Normal > Heroic > Mythic, with some added flexibility in the number of players envolved, essentially turning the old "normal" easier, as it was 10 and 25 only. And differently from this prepatch, the korkron warwolf and the feat of strenght could not be obtained. Therefore, Blizzard never raised minimum required for acquiring the final boss mount to Heroic, just renamed it in MoP - WoD Pre-patch
If the whole thing was legal 15K would be a steal at that price for a one-off mount. You would definitely be able to sell it for four times as much today (if Blizzard actually allowed this sort of thing).
He is probably referencing the vanilla and TBC era battlegrounds in which alliance would win most of the matches. Also his main is a human. :) As far as i'm concerend "Horde rulez, ally droolz!"
Hrm. On Tich, the best PvP guild was horde, and most of the big names in PvP were horde, not ally. Ally weren't slouches, and had a couple notables, but there were PvP guilds transferring to Horde side Tich in vanilla for the competitive PvP scene there. I guess it all depends on your server.

I never received the code. My friend did. Fuck my friend. Spectral Gryphon/Wyvern. I just re-up'd my old RaF account. Tyrael's Charger. Is my paladin's mount. Kor'Kron War Wolf. I paniced because I didn't know about this. Just checked, I do have it. Few... Pheonix mounts. Bought carries. Chalanger';s War Yeti. Same. Choppers. For the Horde! [note, I don't have the alliance version. But I'm rich now so I'ma go buy it.] Corehound. obvs. Grove Warden. Paid 50k for a carry... Primal Flame Saber . I play a ton of HotS anyway. Violet Spellwing. Paid 10k... not sure why it was cheaper. War of Thorns mounts. Duh.
Just asked in trade chat and bought with gold. Despite how much I hate Avast [screw them seriously] it's good to be on a realm with a top 10 guild. Also bought a M+15 carry a few months back for the artifact skin. It's even easier now because you can just search in the group finder for carry or selling. There's even pseudo cross realm gold/real money transfer now by they just make an lv1 toon on your realm, you give them gold for a token, they buy it and they get the money.
The main problem with the LFR MC was the cursing bosses. Blizzard didn't update the mechanics because of the dispell change they made in MoP (dispells had an 8 CD). So those bosses were aids as you couldn't dispell in time for the next set of curses.
As a black battle tank owner I can tell ya... I get at least 1 whisper message "where can I get this mount!?" in every damn battleground... tzz wow players these days...
Augustin Boustoure He doesnt have it or is a scub from Level 80. He got it 2 expansions later by transferring to a new realm and opening it there. He finished it at 80, because a failure couldnt do it at 60 as it was only available for the chosen elites. And you are complaining about people praising your mount. You dont even deserve it, let alone get praises for it.
-Genes- They nerfed the drop rates in WotLK and you could do most stuff solo. If not solo, you would need a party with 5 people at max. It was way easier at 80.
- Phoenixes. Just a small addition to it, that in later patches even tho anyone finished just once receiving silver medals in MoP, he or she got all 4 mounts. - The Core Hound. As a matter or fact it was not like "super hard" or "too hard for lfr" itself. The problem was within the players. They did not know some of the forgotten buttons like "decurse". Oh, yeah, not to mention the time spent in the queue. I waited for like 20 hours (not sitting by the computer, no) on russian servers. And we spent 4 hours to clear the whole raid. But the most upsetting mistake was LOOTING ANYTHING. There was a bug/glitch/whatever you call it, that occured when somebody tried to loot mobs - and it actually disbanded the whole raid, so the players were to wait in the queue again and to pray for nobody to freaking loot anything. - The moose. They did not make it harder to get by bumping up the requirements to heroic. When the Draenor was out, they revamped the raid ranking. The "Flex"(when the HP and damage of the bosses changed depending on the amount of people in a raid) that we knew in MoP became "Normal" in WoD. Normal became Heroic, and Heroic became Mythic difficulty. This is about the raids, so technically it was the same normal mode.
@@Paparoach101 So that confirms you are from 80. I have no reason to be jelly since Ive obtained mine in Classic/2006 where only 2 got it and took blood sweat and tears. A 80 one shouldnt be proud. Especially if he cleans up the dirt left behind by originals.
The Kor'Kron War Wolf was the actually the first mount obtainable on Heroic difficulty. Siege of Orgrimmar was the first raid to use the new raid difficulties (LFR, Flexible, Heroic, Mythic) opposed to the previous (LFR, Normal, Heroic). It is weird how that started mid-expansion at the end of MoP as I'm sure a lot of people who didn't really play through MoP would assume the new difficulties started in WoD since the majority of MoP raids use the old LFR, Normal, and Heroic difficulties. And yeah, for clarification... Old Normal = Current Heroic. Old Heroic = Current Mythic in raids. Flexible was a new difficulty and name-changed to Normal in WoD. Mythic difficulty for dungeons was an all-new difficulty added in WoD.
Been playing since vanilla and I've always been horrible at keeping up with anything new-content related. But thanks to your video I got the hippogryph mount from BFA pre-patch mere minutes before the actual BFA release. Thanks!

Jamie S Thats not a good mindset to have. You also cannot alow any casual to have something you grinded and worked hard for. Thats the beauty of those mounts. There is never an excuse to remove content, instead they should move content. Take scarab mount, they should have prized that to the first people to complete the quest line sure, but instead of removing it, a year or so later they could have made it a rare drop. This gets people doing content, doing raids. Removing anything from the game is a big fuck you to all future players.
Jamie S Nope. Im a Scarab Lord, and seeing that mount as a rare drop would make me quit the game. You are clueless about the effort and dedication people put into a unobtainable mount. Moving the content would be impossible while making it obtainable again. And moving it as a drop is the worst thing possible. You basically remove the initial conditions onto how to get the mount. There are plenty of reasons to make a player doing content and raid for mounts. But adding removeable precious mounts as drops is by far the weakest possible way ever, especially later on, on a higher level where every unknown uneducated player could get one. Just like you said... it would mean a big FUCK YOU to the players who got it the original way.
Kind of hoping some of the older mounts become available again with Classic's release. Would be nice to get them, even if they don't carry over to current WoW mount tab. Actually, thinking about it, if Blizz wants Classic to succeed, they could make any mounts you get carry over to the mount tab on live. That way you'd get more interest in Classic from collectors. Knowing Blizz though, I suspect they'd keep them separate, but "allow" you to buy a character transfer (with mount) from Classic to Live. Guess we'll have to wait and see what they do, if anything.
I remember the grind to get my brewfest ram mount the first brewfest. I woke up every day before school and made sure to get a certain amount of tickets per day to get it.
Ancient Frost saber is not the original one. It was looking like the nightsaber except it was solid white (instead of black) =) Don't recall it's name exactly though! 02:11 Also forgot Baron Rivendare's mount for Vanilla ^_^
Technically the Kor'kron War Wolf was "Heroic" difficulty. You got the mount/achievement before the pre-patch if I recall. Before the pre-patch we still only had Normal & Heroic (Possibly Flex under normal can't remember). When the pre-patch hit "mythic" was the old heroic, heroic was the old normal and normal was the old flex.
IIRC, after the expansion launches, you WILL get the opposing faction's mount from the War of Thorns scenario, so you don't have to do both factions if you don't have an Alliance/Horde alt.
About the Kor'Kron war wolf and the Moose, they were the same difficulty, the wolf just says normal because that's what heroic would be called back then, and today's normal mode would've be flexible if I'm not mistaking. (I'm not sure if they updated the achievement since then though so maybe you just had to beat it on flex/normal and you got it, but I remember getting it on normal/heroic and not on flex/normal, if this makes any sense)
hold on, the violet spellwing is still obtainable, i got it after the pre-patch came out, i got it a day or so after i got the pre-patch mount from the second week of content, its probably gonna go when BFA releases though
The removal of the Black and Plagued Proto Drakes brought an uproar in the forums and other sites like wowhead and MMO-C at the time. The previously mentioned Amani War Bear being removed also sparked this but it came to a fever pitch with the Wrath Naxx removal. Blizzard did warn players the Ulduar mounts would be removed early on but for whatever reason following Naxx they stopped removing mounts from the raiding achievements. There was never a blue post or anything about it, they just didn't remove them. So it seems they did listen to players at the time.
I farmed ZG every week up until Cata launch and never got the tiger. This video reminded me and now I'm pissed

The tiger can be found in Unclaimed Black Market containers which usually go for ridiculous amounts of gold and most of the time contain rubbish

I forgot about the Blizzcon 2017 mounts: The Stormwind Skychaser(www.wowhead.com/item=151618/stormwind-skychaser) and the Orgrimmar Interceptor(www.wowhead.com/item=151617/orgrimmar-interceptor). They're still technically obtainable since you can buy them through ebay(against tos though). Should have still mentioned them though...my bad!
The Violet spellwing is still obtainable until the 14th, so you still have a few more days! In fact, the ahead of the curve mounts were obtainable until the next xpac's launch(not the prepatch like I said in the video)
Been doing some mount farming while waiting for BfA. Thought this would make for an interesting video! If I missed any I'll edit this post. BTW, does anyone have any recommendations for a model viewer for WoW? There's one called WoW model viewer, but I've been having trouble with crashes and whatnot. I believe there were some armorless horses the alliance got, which got some updated models and the player was able to choose between keeping their armorless horse or replacing it with the new armored ones. Shortly after the armorless horses were no longer available, replaced by the new armored counterparts.

I think that, for the trial of the grand crusader 10 man version mounts(swift horde wolf), the mounts were not a reward for tribute to immortality(completing the raid without a single death), but rather tribute to insanity, which only required to finish the raid with 50 attempts left.

About the gladiator mounts, when they first came in Burning Crusade then the Gladiator dragons were the only ones with a speed of 310% (Ashes might've had that too, I don't remember well. But the part about the glad drakes I remember very well.).
I remember, the last day you could get the armani war bear, it was MY turn to receive it. But exactly at that run we failed... I never received the mount after helping so many others :/ Damn it!

Got my Swift Zulian Tiger back in 2009 and it's still the only ground mount I use to this day. Wish there was a way to see how many miles I've rode it.

A few months ago I encountered a player by several occasions while doing random battlegrounds. He had the Ancient Frostsaber (it does not have stripes, it’s just white with a purple saddle). I had never seen an old epic mount in game before, so I got a bit excited and whispered him. He told me he rarely got asked about it because people just don’t know what is is and the rarity of it. He also told me he believed he and another player from an American server were the only two who still had one (with active accounts). Later on, completely random, I got recommended a video here on TH-cam of a someone selling their account, and it was him. It revealed that he also had the Black Ram, which means he obtained two epic mounts before patch 1.4 and decided not to turn them in. He also had the Corrupted Ashbringer, the AQ mount and a lot of other cool items, like the Icebane Plate-set from Naxxramas 40. Probably the most valuable account to this day.

Mounts doesn't need to be able to fly to be cool. My favorite mounts are ground mounts like Midnight, Zulian tiger, the infernal mounts from guldan and the flametalon mounts.

I got the Swift Horde Wolf by accident! Tanked a 10m ToC and we smashed it in less than two hours and we had this chest at the end. Didn't know a mount dropped but rolled and won! Best luck ever the wolf is a killer mount!

I remember getting my core hound. I played during vanilla and remembered every fight in MC. I was a noob back then and I had never led a raid in my life, but I took the wheel during the LFR MC, taking time to explain to everyone what they needed to do from memory (I know it's easy to look at addons and everything). Slowly leading a group of 40 idiots to victory and getting complimented afterwards for the smooth run definitely was a great experience. You could call it a "core" memory hueheuheuheuhe....

3:20 also don't forget about the weight limit. Cows couldn't ride Raptors or UD mounts because we were so damn heavy. The ZG Raptor mount was the only one we could use during most of vanilla. Think they got rid of the restrictions in the pre BC patch.

The coolest things about these mounts, is how the hell people figured this stuff out without online databases and youtube. You were in awe if you ever saw one of these mounts. They were constantly asked how they did it. I knew a guy who didn't use his because he was spammed by people asking how he got it all the time, LOL.
One of those things which made the game feel truly alive and unique. You could only salute those smart enough to figure all this out on their own. It's not possible to compare to todays culture when you can just look something up.
If you were lucky enough to know one of these sages with the secret knowledge how to get one of these mounts, you were struck with the INSANE grind involved. It didn't seem feasible. But the madlads did it. Salute
The ZG mount removal was the worst. I farmed both of those for so long and never got them. Still farming for the panther now but I really would’ve liked to get that tiger.
The Wolf and Moose both where on the 2nd hardest difficulty.
During MoP it went LFR - Flex - Normal - Heroic
During WoD it went LFR - Normal - Heroic - Mythic
So both mounts where just as hard to achieve. Both mounts came from getting the "Ahead of the Curve" achievement.

If I remember correctly the Brewfest Kodo was a rare drop in the mini instance you could run daily in BRD. I just know one of my guild mates had it in BC and I was so jealous. I had the ram, but since bag/bank space was at a premium I eventually deleted it since I never rode it.

Bit of a correction with the Grove Warden and Violet Spellwing: both of those mounts were available through the prepatch, they were only/are only going to be removed with the launch of each expansion. It's a pretty big misconception on the internet that these mounts get removed with the prepatch it seems like, but I know from personal experience that they're available until the next expansion launches as I've gotten both in the respective prepatches. That means that, as of writing this comment, you have 4 more days to get Violet Spellwing if you still don't have it. I'm not sure whether the SoO mount was available in the Warlord's prepatch though.
Another slight correction, albeit a very slight one: you obtain both the Undercity Plaguebat and the Teldrassil Hippogryph for doing either the Alliance or Horde prepatch quests up to the burning of Teldrassil. This one is incredibly easy to miss, as it doesn't seem that Blizzard has mentioned anywhere that this is the case and the only mention of it that I can find online is one comment on a forum post. I only found this out myself when I went to do the quest with an Alliance toon and the Teldrassil Hippogryph popped up when I went to mount up halfway through the quest chain.

Great video. Just some clarification on some infos that were presented wrong. The korkron warwolf was indeed obtainable in SoO Normal, but at the time, the progression were LFR > Flex > Normal > Heroic, then in that prepatch they renamed them for LFR > Normal > Heroic > Mythic, with some added flexibility in the number of players envolved, essentially turning the old "normal" easier, as it was 10 and 25 only. And differently from this prepatch, the korkron warwolf and the feat of strenght could not be obtained. Therefore, Blizzard never raised minimum required for acquiring the final boss mount to Heroic, just renamed it in MoP - WoD Pre-patch

Hrm. On Tich, the best PvP guild was horde, and most of the big names in PvP were horde, not ally. Ally weren't slouches, and had a couple notables, but there were PvP guilds transferring to Horde side Tich in vanilla for the competitive PvP scene there. I guess it all depends on your server.

Just asked in trade chat and bought with gold. Despite how much I hate Avast [screw them seriously] it's good to be on a realm with a top 10 guild.
Also bought a M+15 carry a few months back for the artifact skin.
It's even easier now because you can just search in the group finder for carry or selling. There's even pseudo cross realm gold/real money transfer now by they just make an lv1 toon on your realm, you give them gold for a token, they buy it and they get the money.
The main problem with the LFR MC was the cursing bosses. Blizzard didn't update the mechanics because of the dispell change they made in MoP (dispells had an 8 CD). So those bosses were aids as you couldn't dispell in time for the next set of curses.

Augustin Boustoure He doesnt have it or is a scub from Level 80. He got it 2 expansions later by transferring to a new realm and opening it there. He finished it at 80, because a failure couldnt do it at 60 as it was only available for the chosen elites. And you are complaining about people praising your mount. You dont even deserve it, let alone get praises for it.
-Genes- They nerfed the drop rates in WotLK and you could do most stuff solo. If not solo, you would need a party with 5 people at max. It was way easier at 80.

- Phoenixes. Just a small addition to it, that in later patches even tho anyone finished just once receiving silver medals in MoP, he or she got all 4 mounts.

As a matter or fact it was not like "super hard" or "too hard for lfr" itself. The problem was within the players. They did not know some of the forgotten buttons like "decurse".
Oh, yeah, not to mention the time spent in the queue. I waited for like 20 hours (not sitting by the computer, no) on russian servers. And we spent 4 hours to clear the whole raid. But the most upsetting mistake was LOOTING ANYTHING. There was a bug/glitch/whatever you call it, that occured when somebody tried to loot mobs - and it actually disbanded the whole raid, so the players were to wait in the queue again and to pray for nobody to freaking loot anything.
- The moose. They did not make it harder to get by bumping up the requirements to heroic.
When the Draenor was out, they revamped the raid ranking.
The "Flex"(when the HP and damage of the bosses changed depending on the amount of people in a raid) that we knew in MoP became "Normal" in WoD. Normal became Heroic, and Heroic became Mythic difficulty. This is about the raids, so technically it was the same normal mode.

The Kor'Kron War Wolf was the actually the first mount obtainable on Heroic difficulty. Siege of Orgrimmar was the first raid to use the new raid difficulties (LFR, Flexible, Heroic, Mythic) opposed to the previous (LFR, Normal, Heroic). It is weird how that started mid-expansion at the end of MoP as I'm sure a lot of people who didn't really play through MoP would assume the new difficulties started in WoD since the majority of MoP raids use the old LFR, Normal, and Heroic difficulties.
And yeah, for clarification... Old Normal = Current Heroic. Old Heroic = Current Mythic in raids. Flexible was a new difficulty and name-changed to Normal in WoD. Mythic difficulty for dungeons was an all-new difficulty added in WoD.
Guess what? doesn't matter how much mount or thing you own in WoW, in the end Blizzard own everything you have work for and you keep paying them.
Been playing since vanilla and I've always been horrible at keeping up with anything new-content related. But thanks to your video I got the hippogryph mount from BFA pre-patch mere minutes before the actual BFA release. Thanks!

There is never an excuse to remove content, instead they should move content.
Take scarab mount, they should have prized that to the first people to complete the quest line sure, but instead of removing it, a year or so later they could have made it a rare drop.
This gets people doing content, doing raids.
Removing anything from the game is a big fuck you to all future players.
Jamie S Nope. Im a Scarab Lord, and seeing that mount as a rare drop would make me quit the game. You are clueless about the effort and dedication people put into a unobtainable mount. Moving the content would be impossible while making it obtainable again. And moving it as a drop is the worst thing possible. You basically remove the initial conditions onto how to get the mount. There are plenty of reasons to make a player doing content and raid for mounts. But adding removeable precious mounts as drops is by far the weakest possible way ever, especially later on, on a higher level where every unknown uneducated player could get one. Just like you said... it would mean a big FUCK YOU to the players who got it the original way.
It's cool knowing all the old racial mounts are unique now, I played from launch until Cata and had em all. Lots of Runecloth turn in I remember

Kind of hoping some of the older mounts become available again with Classic's release. Would be nice to get them, even if they don't carry over to current WoW mount tab.
Actually, thinking about it, if Blizz wants Classic to succeed, they could make any mounts you get carry over to the mount tab on live. That way you'd get more interest in Classic from collectors. Knowing Blizz though, I suspect they'd keep them separate, but "allow" you to buy a character transfer (with mount) from Classic to Live. Guess we'll have to wait and see what they do, if anything.

I remember the grind to get my brewfest ram mount the first brewfest. I woke up every day before school and made sure to get a certain amount of tickets per day to get it.
Ancient Frost saber is not the original one. It was looking like the nightsaber except it was solid white (instead of black) =) Don't recall it's name exactly though! 02:11 Also forgot Baron Rivendare's mount for Vanilla ^_^
Technically the Kor'kron War Wolf was "Heroic" difficulty. You got the mount/achievement before the pre-patch if I recall. Before the pre-patch we still only had Normal & Heroic (Possibly Flex under normal can't remember). When the pre-patch hit "mythic" was the old heroic, heroic was the old normal and normal was the old flex.
IIRC, after the expansion launches, you WILL get the opposing faction's mount from the War of Thorns scenario, so you don't have to do both factions if you don't have an Alliance/Horde alt.

About the Kor'Kron war wolf and the Moose, they were the same difficulty, the wolf just says normal because that's what heroic would be called back then, and today's normal mode would've be flexible if I'm not mistaking. (I'm not sure if they updated the achievement since then though so maybe you just had to beat it on flex/normal and you got it, but I remember getting it on normal/heroic and not on flex/normal, if this makes any sense)
hold on, the violet spellwing is still obtainable, i got it after the pre-patch came out, i got it a day or so after i got the pre-patch mount from the second week of content, its probably gonna go when BFA releases though

The removal of the Black and Plagued Proto Drakes brought an uproar in the forums and other sites like wowhead and MMO-C at the time. The previously mentioned Amani War Bear being removed also sparked this but it came to a fever pitch with the Wrath Naxx removal. Blizzard did warn players the Ulduar mounts would be removed early on but for whatever reason following Naxx they stopped removing mounts from the raiding achievements. There was never a blue post or anything about it, they just didn't remove them. So it seems they did listen to players at the time.
