  • We often come across old boxes of long forgotten films and photographs on our outings.
For some reason upon finding a box of cine films recently, we thought it would be a good idea to get them digitised to uncover the mystery and secrets the previous owner had captured.
Part of the allure of these videos is wondering why the person behind the camera captured these moments specifically. What did they want to remember from that little moment in time? This we'll never know but we're happy to share these abandoned gems for all to see.
Subscribe to our channel to see more films as and when they cross our paths.

    Thanks for watching!

How lovely. Thanks for this old film of my hometown. And no distracting music either!

Roughly around the first time I went as a youngster with parents, grandparents and my sis, I'd be about 8 or thereabouts. We stayed in a harbour flat along by the King's Arms and what is now Bennett's. I still remember the two parallel roads pre-pedestrianisation and going across to the beach on my own faithfully every day to watch Punch and Judy! In more recent years, I've taken my own kids - now they are both adults but I still bring my old mum here twice a year.

Great video - some similar shots to what my Grandparents captured in the early 90s 😊 (Weymouth harbour and bridge, and the views from Portland)

Thank-you! Southern National buses. An orderly time with, yes, its troubles!

I have a picture of myself taken on Weymouth seafront when I was a little boy - I'm sitting on a toy elephant with a real monkey on my shoulder !

A fascinating archive. Around 1969 I would say. It's not my film

I agree. The fashions and cars suggest late 60s rather than 70s

Yup, I'm pretty sure the car park at the top of High Street hadn't been tarmaced/paved the year I left Cliff in '68

At about 1minute and 20 seconds there is a fella riding a Lambretta across the town bridge, crash helmets became compulsory in February 1973, so this is before then.
      Great little video of home.👏👏

Thanks for sharing… I live in Weymouth now… I wonder if my TH-cam videos will be as interesting in so many years time…

No footage of the bridge lifting, or of the trains going down the street to the docks station :(
