  • We visit St. Catherine's Monastery on Mt. Sinai where we interview and are given a tour by Fr. Justin Sinaites, the librarian of the monastery. This holy ground can be seen as the embodiment of the revelation of God to men. From Moses, to Elijah, to Holy Fathers such as St. John Climacus, we continue to experience the living God at Mt. Sinai until this very day.

@@filippaoronto3880 It was AMAZING! It was so beautiful! I even got to meet Father Justin and ask him some questions. ☺ He's a super nice guy, and you can tell he's very knowledgable. They don't allow you to take pictures of the artwork, but I saw paintings I have only ever seen in books, and seeing it in real life does not compare. There is truly a spiritual presence there. The chapel was just gorgeous. I'm not Orthodox, and I'm more familiar with churches in the Protestant/Catholic tradition, but the Orthodox aesthetic is also beautiful. And the bedouins I met were very interesting and friendly people! All in all, I feel very glad and very lucky that I was able to go.

From there slowly they maid there way to the mountain of god, it is impossible for the mountain of god to be in Egypt.

They're icons not idols. You are probably a protestant thus your ignorance. Orthodox Christians do not revere the wood or the paint but who the icon represents. Just like you'd keep a beloved one's picture close to you. That's not difficult to understand is it? Kissing and revering an icon you revere the Lord, Theotokos or Saint it represents. We show our love in this way. Maybe that's why Orthodoxy isn't stale dogmatism but the only true ancient church as it was handed down by the apostles.

John of Damascus thought an Arian monk influenced this new sect. He actually thought it was a new heresy and called it the heresy of the Ishmaelites. Muhammad spread his new idea with the sword. He raided caravans outside of Mecca and once Mecca was weak he invaded it. False prophets like Muhammad come and go. There nothing new under the sun says Ecclesiastes.

Forgive me .I don't mean to cause trouble . But this thing was highly talked about between Mount Athos and Alexandria. You should never under any circumstances call him a prophet. Die for what you believe in.
