Glory to Jesus Christ! I first visited St Catherine's in my early 20s, almost 50 years ago...very different then. Planning to return in 2025. Does anyone know whether it is possible to join the monks for prayers at 4 AM or vespers? This would be the highlight for me, but I need some guidance to arrange and assistance. I have perused the website, but I understand the doors will be locked at these times. Can anyone help? Thank you.

I am Greek Orthodox American . I grew up in up as a minority and my Orthodoxy was obscure to all my American friends. Having been born and grown up in this faith I understood our Lord Jesus Christ came to this world to save us from our souls going to h*ll and save us from eternal damnation, He came here to help us walk the path to heaven , to save our souls. He came to this world FOR THE WORLD . For every soul on this earth to have the opportunity to find his Love and salvation. I watched this video with tears of joy. Christianity is not an exclusive club reserved for only certain races . Our Lord Jesus Christ is for those who accept , love and have him in their hearts and souls. He is the true savior and it joys me whenever I see anyone finds Him . ❤

So who destroyed the original chapel? The Persians or the Arabs? Probably the Persians started it and the Arabs finished the job. Since all the Arabs were Moslems at the time and the Christians were all Aramaic-speaking Jews who were later Arabitized, it is likely that the Christians were Arabitized like so many other peoples of the Near East in order to at least live as dimis under islamic rule. Of course, the Turks, who were also moslems, were much worse.

Very good of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem did all the work for you. That is often the case. The Hebrew University has so many specialists who know how to find the relics of the Jewish past all of Judea and Samaria. This shows us that the Jews, including the Christians Jews like St. Stephan and those who translated or transferred his body were there.

What about the church in Jerusalem that I visited? Is that not the ancient church of St. Stephen and I believe that his relics are there. It is near the Russian convent of St. Mary Magdalene.

10:50 exactly christians and Jews used to live in peace under the Islamic rulers but somehow since the creation of the British Empire, the United States and the state of Israel all that peace was taken away and now the three Abrahamic religions are fighting between each others.

@@filippaoronto3880 It was AMAZING! It was so beautiful! I even got to meet Father Justin and ask him some questions. ☺ He's a super nice guy, and you can tell he's very knowledgable. They don't allow you to take pictures of the artwork, but I saw paintings I have only ever seen in books, and seeing it in real life does not compare. There is truly a spiritual presence there. The chapel was just gorgeous. I'm not Orthodox, and I'm more familiar with churches in the Protestant/Catholic tradition, but the Orthodox aesthetic is also beautiful. And the bedouins I met were very interesting and friendly people! All in all, I feel very glad and very lucky that I was able to go.
