Thank you for watching! Don't worry, I didn't spill my tea! I like having english breakfast tea with milk and sugar; what's your favourite cosy drink? :)
Im late to commenting on this, but I am SO happy you mentioned the "don't put up pieces in styles you don't want/enjoy working in". Over the years I have accumulated a few different styles, and while I am proud of the pieces, I am not sure that would be fun to do an entire project in it! I have been tempted to put these pieces in my portfolio, but I think I will think more carefully on this.
I'm glad my video was helpful! It can be so tempting to put in literally every piece you've ever created, but I have to remind myself that my portfolio isn't a collection of all the work I've done, but a carefully curated set of work intended for a specific audience!
I'm graduating with my illustration BFA this school year so this video is so helpful! I used your portfolio site (and others) to help model mine over the summer, but hearing more of the reasoning behind your portfolio choices is really great
perfect timing thank u!! i'm finally making a portfolio website over my uni break :0 also i am watching the very full cup of tea with so much concern haha

Really insightful! After 20 years as an artist in the video game industry I'm about to throw caution to the wind and give illustration a shot. Your videos are a super helpful look into the biz end of things. Thanks!
Thank you SO much Anoosha for sharing all this information. I can’t even begin to express how helpful you are! Can’t wait for the character designer and children’s illustration specific videos!

Hi! I just discover your videos and I absolutely love it, but I was so chocked to hear about Ceruleum in Lausanne, where I come from 😂 I considered to study there a long time ago.. what a surprise
Good video 👏🏽. Did exactly what you brought up and used tumblr in combination with my own URL, so hearing that in the video was a nice affirmation that I was doing something right. Highly recommend the tumblr theme Illustfolio. The creator actively updates it (some themes don't play well with tumblr's updates and defaults to showing text first over any pictures included in the post 🙃). Another plus to tumblr is you can edit the HTML to further customize your website (some web hosts charge a tooooon more just for HTML editing!).
Hello Annosha, I like the videos you’re making. I have a question. I am interested in career/job in illustration, yet I am into character design. Do you have any resource or videos on character design?
I’ve learnt something new 🥰🥰🥰🙏🏽 thanks for sharing! My portfolio is something I’ve been trying to put together. I really hope I can afford my own website soon but that’s a work in progress 🙈 alrighty, thanks again for your time and your amazing content! Love your work Hun. Take care bye for now 🥰👋🏽 - Marie x
This is helping me a lot with my website! I have a question, you said not to upload large files in our portfolio/website. I've been googling what specific size/resolution should the file be, and I'm having a hard time finding answers. Is it alright if you share the resolution/dpi and size you usually use?
I don’t have any hard numbers and it’s different for every project but I prefer doing 72dpi and less than 2500px for the longest edge if that makes sense!
thank you so much!! What resolution do you suggest to use for your illustrations when it comes to upload them on your website? Also, a character design portfolio video would be really helpful!!
I think I poorly worded what I was trying to say haha; I guess the resolution doesn't matter too much; maybe 200dpi is a good in-between of high/low res, but I meant more of the dimensions itself; having a 1000x700px image is better than something that's 4000x3000px
For the kid lit portfolio, what size are those canvases on procreate? Could I size them directly from there or would I need to size them somewhere else afterwards? I am guilty of not really knowing which direction. I’d like to create family friendly prints for clothing etc to start and work towards children’s book illustrations
Think of what size you want to print at and make sure your canvas is that size in inches or centimeters, then make it above 150 dpi. Definitely start large and size down from there. It's impossible to go the other way.
Hey Anoosha, I've been browsing all your videos for hours now lol. I like your style and your contents very much :) I'm also a professional children's book illustrator and I'm really considering moving my website to Square Space now that I've watched your video. I'm on Porkbun for few years now but seems like my website keeps crushing and bugging everytime I'm adding changes to it. It's really annoying ! I hope a new website won't cost me too much :/ :)
@@AnooshaSyed it's the least expensive I've found when I was looking for a website. But it's so complicated to use and always bugging :( Which website builder would you recommend as great and not too expensive please ?
Hi I have a portfolio question! So, if you are applying for a certain position (like a character design job at a studio) would you create a specific section on your website for character design and only send the company a link to that part of your website? Like I know people talk about creating certain portfolios for specific jobs, but how do you separate that on your website to show you're specific in one area (even though they can see all the other areas on your portfolio site)? Hope this question makes sense lol!

Because my goal would be to freelance illustrate when I graduate but I think I’m a little lost on how I will actually do that :)
