I worked in an aluminum foundry about 20 years ago. I am sure that they add titanium and boron to the aluminum. We poured some large aluminum castings for brake cylinders and housings and even transmission valve bodies. Some of the John Deere castings were sent to Germany to be machined.

Fantastic, putting the Great in Great Briton ! The GPFAX pads in my bike are the best I've tried, and I tried a few !

Yeah, not just aluminium but several things I noticed that a brit would not pronounce, was pronounced obviously specifically for the US market of this video. It seems we're pushovers :)

Late 1980’s my ex girlfriends father used to work making car brake pads and clutches marde from asbestos.. he’s been there 15+ years and for many years the workers had very basic precautions and breathed asbestos dust regularly..
By the time anyone realised it was too late, most everyone had some form of lung cancer.. (the dust was everywhere from the shop floor to management officces..
He died of cancer some years later.. as did the majority of the employees. The company went bust.
Now modern materials are much safer but back in the day asbestos was common, be careful when working on older cars..

I'm not trying to be a party pooper; however, I noticed during the machining process that the discs were being slotted right to the edge of the disc. Doesn't this create stressor points which develop cracking? I've always been led to believe that slotting was to be limited and not proceeded fully to the disc's edge. What say you?

Cutting the vent all the way to the end allows the gases/heat to be swept away from the pad surface and away from the contact area more efficiently. Structurally this cut isn’t ideal, but the benefit from cooling outweighs potential failure mode of a crack due to overheating.

I love how the brits interviewed changed the names and terms to American so you Americans could understand it.

They pointed out the dropped "i" in Aluminum for sure. "Assembly Paste, to ease the assembly," certainly threw me for a second. We Americans think of paste as a thick mixture of powder and liquid, i.e. Toothpaste, school paste, or flour/cornstarch and water, etc. It's also a color reference, add the U if you like, like "pasty white skin." That would wear the bore in the caliper. Some nice red grease is a different story. Do you have different names for the rotor, caliper, and pad?

I personally cant and wont recommend EBC brake pads. They are too expensive, the break in period is ridiculous and the pads make noise and DUST! Green AND Yellow stuff. NEVER AGAIN. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Ive put Hawk pads on a dozen vehicles I have owned and NEVER had any issue. Break in period is quick and easy and the dust is minimal. ZERO noise and great braking for a DD.
