  • @lauraholden6328

    I’m a natural level 3 with 9 level highlights. I feel that when my stylist uses redken shades eq to blend out the lines it slightly lifts my natural hair and can turn brassy easily. Any tips for a blended out root without lifting my natural??

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      So I haven't used redken much to know if it has lifting power. In my experience, it doesn't. However, I know redken has a gel that is permanent, so I wonder if she's using that? That would cause it to lift your base/ natural color. I really want to say just shades eq for toning doesn't lift, but if anyone reads this that had better knowledge, feel free to comment.
      I also wonder if when she's lightening your hair, if bleach is bleeding onto hair it shouldn't be? Cause then that could be lifting your hair that shouldn't be, causing it to go warm and not light enough to tone down.
      I would ask her before you start your service next time you go in, show her the warmth and ask her why is your hair so brassy in those areas.
      At least that will bring it to her attention, if it's not already.
      I personally have noticed that with other lines that the natural hair started lifting and I stopped using those products. That's why I like the demi and schwarzkopf, cause it's either just a processing solution or low developer that can't lift the hair. That's why I wonder what she's really using cause shades eq toning I believe just has a processing solution.
      Good luck and I'd be interested on what happens at your next service!

    • @shearsofgold5862
      @shearsofgold5862 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Most likely she’s using permanent color or the wrong developer. Shades eq is deposit only.

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really depends on how dark they want it. Or how ashy or warm. I never go darker than their natural level tho.

  • @astonelliott3170
    @astonelliott3170 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If ur a roots are a level 4 or 5 what colour do
    You suggest to use for the root smudge? Or if
    The hair is bleached all over and the roots are now blonde what colour for the root smudge to you recommend then?

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on what the client wants. Some clients want a very dramatic root, so darker than their natural. Personally I like to do one slightly lighter than their natural so it won't be a problem to lift out for following services

      Did you watch the video thru the end? Or when her hair was finished but still sitting in the chair?
      I screen shotted the beginning and end and the hair looks the same, so I'm not sure what your seeing?
      Natural lighting plays a huge factor in video and pictures so depending on how the hair is positioned to the window, there's instances where her hair looks warmer, but when she's closer to the window and has more natural light shining on her hair vs the warm salon lighting, it looks very bright and icy.
      It can be frustrating cause I take many many many pictures to find the right lighting that reflects the hair, but angle the head one way vs the other it looks more yellow or more icy. Just keep in mind I can position a picture to find JUST the right spot to get the right exact color showing thru but video, there's movement, salon light reflecting, shadows, glares from the sun, etc. All that effects the outcome of what you see in the moving video vs finding the right exact natural lighting and taking a picture.

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, talks about not overlapping then continues to over lap cause some blondes need to continue being lifted if it's brassy, or feathered thru the mid section to lighten darker hair. Clearly, use caution when foiling. There's so many stylists that pull bleach thru the ends of hair that's already white blonde so I like explaining not to over lap but to use best judgement for every client.
