spent many a happy hour pigeon shooting on the same field with my son back in the late 90s when my dad was a game keeper on the same shoot, good to see the wild mushrooms are still there as well.
Long time viewer Scott. As a fellow YT'er I know the time it takes to be productive, make a living, shoot and edit videos while trying to make a living at the same time haha. Fantastic job sir! --Eric O.
Great video. Greeting from Southeast Missouri USA. We have Dove season going on here. The standard technique seems to be to to wrap 10-15 breast with a strip of bacon and grill them on the barbie outside. You have to swill beer while this is all going on.
salivating from second 2 (and that's because I blinked at second 1!)... Scott Rea Food Traveling Circus any time soon now? Really reminds me (in a GOOD way) of Rick Stein's programs! Keep up!!!
That looks absolutely bloody fantastic mate. As always you have managed to create another brilliant dish, I bet most chefs would be hard pressed to emulate. Cheers for the upload as always Scott.
Thanks for the video Scott.. wood pigeons have done my head in for years.. that sound they make early in the morning.. you just wanna blow their heads off... 🤣🤣 I can hear one just now no joking 🙈🙈🙈😁😁😁 yeh if I can do the butcher bit I will have passed a milestone.. thanks again Scott.. peace and love from Scotland . 🤘👌👍
MY PIGEON TRAP IS ALMOST COMPLETE. I'M GONNA WAIT TILL IT COOLS OFF A BIT MORE HERE IN THE STATES. I HAVE COOKED A MANY OF MEALS ON ONE OF THOSE BUTANE STOVE. GREAT VIDEO GREAT TIMES GOD BLESS
Awesome, please do more! Any special considerations dealing with fresh game like that? I am a avid duck hunter and would love to try field to fork, but I have only ever debreasted and vac packed for sous viede later.
Scott - to stop the noise of the wind on your microphone put some fluffy stuff that deflects the noise. not sure what it is called but i'm sure you can fine something on the net. hope this helps.
Thanks, very informative. I'm considering shooting pigeons with my .22 caliber air rifle to try to offset the high cost of living in Britain right now & it will get worse. I would shoot ferril birds too but I think I'd just cut the breast meat off as you have as there doesn't look like there is much more meat elsewhere.
i own an air rifle but i have never killed anything with it. However after seeing you cook this pigeon i think i need to go find some land to shoot on by mine now as i love cooking and this looked amazing
I dont know anything about shooting but do you use air rifles or another type of gun? Would i need a licence and also where can i shoot can i go down any local woods fields etc?
Hi Scott, Last time I ate wild mushrooms I went to the hospital with food poisoning. How do you tell the difference between the good mushrooms and the poisonous mushrooms? Keith
You just have to learn which mushrooms are poisonous and which ones are safe to eat where you live. Luckily most of the poisonous varieties are pretty easy to identify at least in here in Finland. The most deadly ones are the death caps and destroying angels which can be tricky because they can look like young button mushrooms if you aren't familiar with them. The best tip I can give you is learn to identify the most common edible mushrooms first and ignore the rest. Chanterelles and edible boletes are in my opinion the easiest ones to start with.
Scott said in the video that he'd use the rest of the bird for stock, so it won't be wasted. Except for the breast, there's not much meat on these birds, but morsels can be cut or pulled from the cooked carcass and legs.
What is it about the mushrooms that tells you they are edible and not poisonous? I was always told never to eat wild mushrooms so Im curious. Love you vids Scott!
That's some beautiful country...

Thank you Scott, for existing in video form.

Fine-dining in the field, on a camping stove... Lovely stuff.
Real food. Now that's what I'm talking about. This is a life skill that should be taught in schools along with growing your own food.
I ain't eating no bug burger's. Better start learning to be self sufficient mate, otherwise you're going to be sorry you didn't.
I teach this in an SEN behaviour school and they LOVE it
love seeing that, you have been an educator for me in the way to prepare in despatch food. Keep it up mate!
One of your best videos Scott. Thanks!
That looks absolutely bloody fantastic mate. As always you have managed to create another brilliant dish, I bet most chefs would be hard pressed to emulate. Cheers for the upload as always Scott.

I glad you had a successful hunt mate. That pigeon looked wonderful. I can always go for a little alfresco cookery and dining.
Looking forward to see what cuts of meat you recommend for crimbo, and the best way to prepare it.
Brilliant video Scott. I'm going to try this with duck very soon
Dude - you're a complete bohemian! Love your PROJECT . . . finger-lickin' awesome.
Good effort lads. Looked great and the Specials intro. Perfect. ATB Moose. (p.s. Keith would have loved it, just needed a glass of red)
Looks great! Is there any way you can show us a good Squirrel recipe? Maybe a squirrel sausage?
How much we miss you sir, what is your long absence?
Love it, I started following your field to fork work back with the rabbit vids. Keep it up Scott!
Beautiful Scott! Always love it when your new video's pop up :)
Been waiting for a new vid Scott! Nice one mate
Great video
It looks so good Scott. I wish I could try pigeon. I'm in Canada so it's a taboo and not even sold here.
nicely done.
That was a lot better than the microwave bacon he sent you off with before.
Lovely hat btw.
Awesome Scott!
Great now I'm craving wood pigeon XD
Very good, Scott! Did you have a shotgun like your buddy, or was your shooting limited to the vidcam?
Hi Scott can you tell me what stove your using?
Gotta wear that hat in more episodes!
Man I'd like to have you cookin in our huntin camp lol looks good
Ono Udont why would you say that?
Food in fresh air is always the best.....sea food straight out of the water on the beach, or on the boat never better
MY PIGEON TRAP IS ALMOST COMPLETE. I'M GONNA WAIT TILL IT COOLS OFF A BIT MORE HERE IN THE STATES. I HAVE COOKED A MANY OF MEALS ON ONE OF THOSE BUTANE STOVE. GREAT VIDEO GREAT TIMES GOD BLESS
what about braised leg? of course not out in the field!
looks amazing!

I used to use a large waterproof bandaid (Extra large type) to keep my camera quiet in the field .
Cool thanks mate

how can you tell whether the wild mushrooms are poisonous or not? that always seemed like a very risky snack to me..
coopz seems like such a legend
great work as usual scott
is it wise to eat wild pigeons , ?
how do you know if they dnt have parasites...
Awesome video, I've done something similar with dove here in Arizona, the fresher the better! And what a sweet hat Scott has.
Walking on the beaches looking at the peaches.
the pigeon @ 2:39 didn't get shot? just straight fell down from the skies? My Lord Scoot, master of minds!
I dont know anything about shooting but do you use air rifles or another type of gun? Would i need a licence and also where can i shoot can i go down any local woods fields etc?
Brilliant video, although is it really Field To Fork when you didn't leave the field or use a fork!? haha!
Lovely sir !
Why did you discard the other mushrooms?
@4:40 Dear Old Keith would have LOVED a drink (aka a slodge) with you! #makethemanproud
Hi Scott, Last time I ate wild mushrooms I went to the hospital with food poisoning. How do you tell the difference between the good mushrooms and the poisonous mushrooms? Keith
Thanks for this. There wasn't a lot of blood when you cut into the bird, did you drain it first? (I am Very new to this.)
How do you know which mushrooms are safe to eat? Some mushrooms are poison right?
You just have to learn which mushrooms are poisonous and which ones are safe to eat where you live. Luckily most of the poisonous varieties are pretty easy to identify at least in here in Finland.

Chanterelles and edible boletes are in my opinion the easiest ones to start with.
You should add a video on how to forage for that port.
Love all your video's but I have a question...if we can eat a whole quail why is there so much waste on a bigger bird like pigeon?
Scott said in the video that he'd use the rest of the bird for stock, so it won't be wasted. Except for the breast, there's not much meat on these birds, but morsels can be cut or pulled from the cooked carcass and legs.
those look like mull berries we have those in the chicago
What is it about the mushrooms that tells you they are edible and not poisonous? I was always told never to eat wild mushrooms so Im curious. Love you vids Scott!
You can eat wild mushrooms so long as you know exactly what youre after.
Amazing video, what was the song playing in the beginning of the vid?
Bit late but it's Peaches by The Stranglers
How safe is it to eat pink pigeon? I went to get into small game shooting and eating but i'm afraid of disease and parasites.
where's this "how to prepare and cook a signal crayfish" video Scotty?
Thanks for reminding me Jamie, i totally forgot dude, leave it with me mate.cheers
legend mate, thank you.
Jamie Brookes
You can look elsewhere but it wouldn't be as good!!!!!
exactly lol
Jamie Brookes
Let's wait and keep are fingers crossed or keep reminding him
7:46 lol
I believe that dishes name is: Pigeon a la Cacciadora... Literally with what the hunter can provide.
Should be called " Bang to Bite" ;)
Do you make soup or something else with the rest of the bird body?
Stock.
Personally I just toss it in the bushes. It's probably not worth plucking the whole bird for what you'll get from it.
Scott, why don't you ever do a video talking about your cool ass shotgun?
Top vid
I'd hunt with you any day.
Hey Scott, do you accept fan friend requests on fb? Don't want to bug you if it's your personal account. Cheers!
never mind. note to self: watch whole vid before asking questions
+dramaends of course mate..request me.
Never mess with a british man's beans!
You could have pulled the breastbone up afterwards to expose the liver and taken that too, really nice pigeon liver. Nice bit of decoying that!
Floyd would be proud...
Didn't hear/see you spit out the pellets!
I always knew you were outstanding in your field. This video proves it. (see what I did there?) I need to get out more.
"Dedicated to our man Floyd"
07:47 ....as the actress said to the Bishop.
