Hold up. Brand new channel, no credability, no track record. But yet you're getting in-person interviews with people who have 10 Million subscribers? There is no way, you gotta be an IRL friend or colleague to these people or something?
Maybe. But also, maybe asking around can get you farther than you think. You can book people sometimes too, of course it's not a charity but there are options is my point. I wouldn't disregard that possibility either though, but everyone starts from somewhere. You can book famous celebrities if the price is right too often.
People buy channels. Ever seen those anime channels who keep posting 30 minute videos of vandalized episodes? Those random channels that keep posting music? Those channels that keep posting basic memes? Yep, those are farming subscribers to sell the channel on forums. They usually have some generic name. Then suddenly you start seeing new channels with thousands, sometimes millions of subscribers, appearing out of nowhere as if they were always there. No explanation, nothing, they just start posting videos like it's what they've always done. There are a lot of v-sauce clones, pseudo-science channels, etc, that serve as examples. When you see a new channel with many subscribers where the guy is posting videos like he's a well-known popular youtuber, most likely he bought a channel to fulfill his dream of becoming a youtuber. That's why the editing is usually in line with the big channels, it's what they dream of doing.
Another thing to consider is that they made videos for the Mr.Beast audience at first. I think that’s what actually killed them because if they only made a community post thanking people for subscribing or just made a video telling new people what their channel was about their new subscribers would be probably be considered by TH-cam “dead” subscribers that weren’t interested in this channel’s content and would be not suggested the channels videos quicker and maybe their channels could’ve survived
My opinion is how can you kill a channel that wasn't ever successful to begin with and never would have received the exposure to begin with? even if most people didn't stick around, they surely had a few people who did and that's growth. I think the issue is they just expected all their problems to be solved and to be huge with large views every video after the shout-out, when pre-shout-out they were barely even crossing a thousand views. In the first example, they only had a few hundred views per video. Post-shout-out, they were actually doing better off on their normal videos with thousands of views per video. I know it's probably not where they wanted to be either, but that is growth and growth performs at different rates. Also, if the content isn't doing well, if you want to make it, you have to switch it up and find what works rather than blaming your audience for not watching you. It may very well be the best video in the entire world, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter if people don't click on it, and it's up to you to find out what makes people click on your videos.
@@skoop651 Pewdiepie and Jacksepticeye were both making gaming focused content though, so the target demographic was the same. For the shout out to actually be successful, the content has to be in the same or similar category
This is the same when Pewdiepie used to do shoutouts to random channels and they didn't do really well beyond the shoutout, since most of their subscribers are Pewds' fans that only likes gaming content which is why the only channel that got popular from the shoutout is Jacksepticeye.

I also thought about that when I saw one of his shoutouts… Is that really something good? As you mentioned, they will only gain subscribers who don’t even care about their content. Its probably just as bad for the algorithm as buying fake followers that is not interested. It might work if they have a similar audience though.
Talk about slow growth… That’s how Mr. Beast became the biggest TH-camr in the world. One night I was bored and scrolled through many of his older videos… He probably uploaded over 300 videos in the first three years, and it took him several years to even reach 1000 subscribers! However, he was building something during these years, and he likely had a very loyal fan base that supported him when the channel finally took off.
I’m no expert, but based on my experience, Google Ads can also be bad to a small channel, especially if you don’t really know what you’re doing, like me 😉 Today I believe more in slow growth, even if it’s not always fun to wait… Even if I tried to reach people interested in my stuff through ads, the only result was a lot worse retention and fewer views on the whole channel. Basically all my uploads started to have fewer views after that. Even though I only did it for a week, it took months before I had as many views and subscribers as I had the months before. I’m not 100% sure if it was because of the ads, but something definitely changed in the weeks after that… So I will avoid ads at least until I learn more about it. Just a tip before you try to grow a channel with ads… Or any other ”fast” way to growth your channel. Most of us probably just need more patience 😘
Subbed! surprised to see you don’t have 100k subs already, great content dude, I’ve just started out myself I’m at 237 subs as of now after one month of starting a channel and it’s way more than I’d imagined. Your gonna have 1000s next time I look I’m sure
@@jjbeatsgaming3029 I feel very lucky but I think I just hit the right niche at the right time, growth has slowed the last few days though I’m currently stuck on 464 subs but still way more than I thought I’d have by now. Just got to get my watch hours up to 3000 now so I can get monetised when I hit 500 subs.
I've seen people in recent comments state points like "It’s their fault for not adjusting their content for their new target demographic.", but that is a terrible POV to look at this situation. As this video states, these channels already have their own sort of fanbase, which was built upon the type of content they more than likely enjoyed making. Then all of a sudden they’re getting 1000s of new fans from a completely different audience and we're expecting them to change up their entire content just to appeal to this new crowd? A story I know from a TH-camr (who shall remain unnamed) was them deciding initially deciding to quit their channel due to Restrictions back in the 2020s, and they directly chose not to shoutout their new channel or their content. Ordinarily that would sound like disrespect to your viewers, but their entire focus was to get an audience of people who cared about that new content rather than hook in a bunch of people who might’ve not even cared about what they were doing and only subbing because of their older experience. Almost as if they knew not that his older subs who didn’t care about their newer work would tank the channel by showcasing that their fans didn’t care about their videos. The point I’m getting to is these creators should be allowed to make content that they’re wang because A: That’s what they’re passionate about, and B: They had built up an audience from people who care about that sort of stuff. As described in this video, most of these channels gained their popularity by relating around MrBeast or his type of content, because they’re stuck with an audience of people who mostly only care about that content from the channel they got that shoutout from, which in turn damages the channel’s viewer percentage and kills the channel from appearing in recommendation feeds. I'm not saying this to start a hate campaign against MrBeast before anyone misunderstands me, in fact I enjoy Jimmy quite a bit, but nobody deserves to have their entire content stream be changed just because they suddenly receive new fans from a shoutout who don’t remotely care about the community they’ve already built.
Awesome video. Glad to see a new TH-camr hit that algorithm so quickly, you knew some stuff beforehand! So, with these shoutouts would you think that with TH-cam slowly shifting to a video-by-video basis, would these subs be nothing but beneficial in boosting your name on TH-cam itself?
Bro i watch your running content and was so shocked to see your face when i clicked on this video lmao. Great prdouction quality tho, and i think its smart to start another chanel if you wanna start uploading different content styles!
Were the channels doomed because of the shoutout? The only reason we're talking about them is because of the shoutout. There are millions of obscure YT channels with dozens or hundreds of subscribers. We will never talk about them, and 1000s give up every day. If you're given an opportunity, you either run with it, or don't. Opportunity often brings change, some people don't respond well to change.
i feel like if a TH-camr was properly advertised (something like a short summery of what type of content they make) it would prevent the steep slope problem (it would at least help a lot)
Mr Beast editor & former talent here! I agree with your perspective! I can’t lie, I didn’t watch the entire video BUT I will say: to their advantage, all the views from the videos that did skyrocket go to their pockets & help them get monetized 💰💸 maybe they don’t sustain the views, but they probably made BANK off those views from just one video. This is an advantage. Maybe not for longevity, no. But it’s a perk for sure! You also have to factor in how niche a channel is. Which I think you mentioned. It has to be something widely relatable to be worth sticking around for. From being in some of his videos myself, I actually found success from his name. It was my lack of availability for TH-cam and IG later on that made my following taper off. So it’s a debatable topic. Overall, cool perspective!
for the first example, it’s like nothing changed, they just gained more subs, they’re view count was the same, so it didn’t destroy their channel, that was their own decision
The videos got less views compared to their sub count which made the algorithm think they were bad videos and stop promoting them. It still might have been their decision to quit but the point still stands
The problem with receiving ANY shoutout from ANY big TH-camr is that 99% of YOUR audience is THEIR audience. And even though you're providing the same content you've been doing since the start of your channel, not changing your content for your new audience will cause them to leave. BUT changing your content for your new Audience will cause your old audience to miss the old content you used to make and THEY will leave. It's a SAD but endless loop of "Nobody will be happy" and it's one of the reasons I feel a slow steady growth is better than quickly rocketing to stardom
a tip for youtube, everything after 7:22 will destroy your watch time and you should put that first and make the video 8-10 minutes if you can. the viewers already saw what was in the humbnail and wont be interested in the rest of the video
I kinda disagree because if you do receive a shoutout from people who don't really watch the type of content that you normally upload, it will still introduce your content to a new audience and who knows maybe that new audience will eventually get used to the type of content you upload and own you will get that success you obvious craved for. To me a shoutout is just a backbone to success
he gained like 5 mil from one of his shorts that blew up, and has been averaging a few hundred thousand subs per day, mrbeast's video barely contributed to his subs
Does it really kill the channels though? I mean it’s completely true that a lot of the audience wouldn’t stick around due to the contend being different, but it still introduced a lot of people who would and it looks like afterward they consistently got more views that they did before, no? Like how the 3rd guy puts it
TH-cam thinks "Hey if his/her own subscribers arent watching his/her videos, why would other people watch it? Im not putting this on the main page, Im not recommending it!" Then nobody watches it and the channel dies.
First of all, how does this video only have 1200 views??? And how do you only have 80 subs (now 81 because I subscribed)??? Both you and the video deserve at the very least a thousand times more views and subs which I am certain you will reach in due time if you keep uploading quality stuff like this, keep it up! Now about the video itself, while I do agree that in terms of analytics MrBeast will ruin your videos if they don't align with his audience (like average watch time, audience retention and all that stuff), I think it'll still help a lot with other aspects such as the membership requirement (500 subscribers and 3000 watch hours) and the ad / monetization requirement (1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours) from talking about MrBeast for like 1 / 2 videos and then I guess after that you can do whatever you like with monetization / membership perks as a bonus. So I don't think shoutouts are a bad thing at all... Nalterdeeds has the right idea, you can't expect your videos to perform any better just because of a shoutout, I'd just be happy with the new (and decaying) subscribers, the easy path to youtube monetization and upload what I'd like with the same mentality as before I got the shoutout.
I don’t even have to watch the video, I totally agree. It’s like your whole reputation is “the guy who mrbeast shouted out” like people don’t see you as a normal person and unique content creator.
Man this video feels like it was made by a 100 million subs channel, great shit dude! Hope u grow in the future. By the way for those who want to suceed in youtube, please have fun with it,remember that this is how Penguinz0 suceed and also mrbeast too, also markiplier.
At least in regards to the ones in this video, their popularity decreased as compared to the peak they reached post-shoutout, but increased as compared to pre-shoutout.
Same. Already did. 😢 Joking, didn't happen. Not yet anyway. MrBeast, please don't shout me out unless you do it to specific people that love Pokemon content. That's right, all 5 of them. 🤣🤣🤣
I had a similar experience when I made a MatPat tribute video when he retired in March. It received thousands of views within days and by the time the rate of new subscribers finally started to calm down, I had about 200 new subscribers from that video alone. During that time, I found it really hard to cope with this insane amount of new subscribers, which absolutely destroyed a fun little subscriber race with one of my biggest fans, and made me miss several subscriber milestones that I ended up being very late to. But, of course, my view count on regular videos didn't change. I didn't give up, though. I kept uploading regular videos like normal because I enjoy doing it, all while still trying to convince people to unsubscribe (which obviously didn't work). Then, about a week after I uploaded the video, I decided to create a second channel, where I would upload all meme-style content. I was considering re-uploading the MatPat video on the new channel straight away and deleting the original (which then changed to making the original private - then to making the original unlisted), but I thought it wouldn't be right considering the original was uploaded just one day after his retirement. I think I've come to the decision that I will re-upload it one year on (March 9th 2025), and do whatever I'm going to do with the original, whether that be unlist it, private it, or delete it altogether. My advice? If you find yourself in a similar situation, but you enjoy what you normally do, then don't let one video destroy your entire channel. If you enjoy what you do then why should you quit, only to leave an emptiness inside you? I must admit, I was really considering quitting to some degree, but I kept on going because my channel makes up so much of my life, and I didn't know what I would do if I stopped. If you are thinking of uploading a video about a well-known TH-camr, then don't just go for it without thinking like I did. Consider how you are going to do it. Maybe create a new channel; even if you aren't going to use it that much (I made one to supplement my other interests), doing this will avoid your channel's reputation being ruined. If you are going to post it on your current account, then remember to think very carefully about it before doing so. Perhaps upload it as a private or unlisted video, or, as a last resort, scrap the whole project altogether if you don't think it will be worth it. If you made it this far, then thank you for taking your time to read this.
I, could bet you have like couple million subs, and here I am to click the subscribe button, and I see, you have 1,1k, and I’m like: how?! You create such great content! Keep it going man!
Definitely appreciate the insight and video quality and effort! I must however disagree with 5:20 - a "Mr. Beast" audience is not necessarily so one dimensional as to only want one thing. I personally have enjoyed numerous Mr Beast videos for the wholesome nature and outlandish scale he works in, yet I also watch all sorts of unrelated channels and for a number of people, an unrelated channel may be of great interest to them! TL;DR not all, but at least some, people in a given channel's audience will also like your content so keep it up!! With that said, I do understand the youtube algorithm may end up 'hiding' your stuff since it thinks your audience is something it isn't. So that is a complication
The thing is, it isn’t mister beast fault, but his followers, he wanted to give them support and actually help but his followers just did the wrong part.

You can book famous celebrities if the price is right too often.
parents' money?
Those channels were not big in the first place and didn't have what it took.
PewDiePie once shouted out a small channel called jacksepticeye
@@WildWombats I think it is all about mentality
@@miguelbailey95 I agree. Can make a great situation bad with the wrong mentality, and can make a bad situation worse.
This is the same when Pewdiepie used to do shoutouts to random channels and they didn't do really well beyond the shoutout, since most of their subscribers are Pewds' fans that only likes gaming content which is why the only channel that got popular from the shoutout is Jacksepticeye.
Jacksepticeye got barely any push from the shout out, he got famous on his own hardwork. And later on working along side other let's players including pewds

One night I was bored and scrolled through many of his older videos…
He probably uploaded over 300 videos in the first three years, and it took him several years to even reach 1000 subscribers!
However, he was building something during these years, and he likely had a very loyal fan base that supported him when the channel finally took off.
I’m no expert, but based on my experience, Google Ads can also be bad to a small channel, especially if you don’t really know what you’re doing, like me 😉 Today I believe more in slow growth, even if it’s not always fun to wait…
Even if I tried to reach people interested in my stuff through ads, the only result was a lot worse retention and fewer views on the whole channel.
The last guy. we all should be like him. saying "it is what it is" and finding what you can learn from what happened.

TL;DR: A Mr.Beast shout-out is like taking steroids. You may gain a bunch of muscles and feel super strong but you're screwed when it wears it off.
You deserve way more than just 30 subs ngl
Were the channels doomed because of the shoutout? The only reason we're talking about them is because of the shoutout. There are millions of obscure YT channels with dozens or hundreds of subscribers. We will never talk about them, and 1000s give up every day.
If you're given an opportunity, you either run with it, or don't. Opportunity often brings change, some people don't respond well to change.
i love this guy for holding a spoon for the whole vid
i feel like if a TH-camr was properly advertised (something like a short summery of what type of content they make) it would prevent the steep slope problem (it would at least help a lot)
Love this video! Could still use a MrBeast shout out though🤣

36 subs?? Why’s this video so well made
The problem with receiving ANY shoutout from ANY big TH-camr is that 99% of YOUR audience is THEIR audience.
Here at 2.72k subs KEEP GOINGGG

I kinda disagree because if you do receive a shoutout from people who don't really watch the type of content that you normally upload, it will still introduce your content to a new audience and who knows maybe that new audience will eventually get used to the type of content you upload and own you will get that success you obvious craved for. To me a shoutout is just a backbone to success
Why are you holding a red spoon? Like why?
That mark rober shoutout in the abandoned city video got him almost 10 million extra followers , hope they integrate well.
he gained like 5 mil from one of his shorts that blew up, and has been averaging a few hundred thousand subs per day, mrbeast's video barely contributed to his subs
nice
👍
Finally someone understands how intense sudden channel growth is!
imagine mrbeast sees this guy (w ass content creator) and shouts him out ☠️
Does it really kill the channels though?

Ok after watching this video I will now avoid getting a shoutout from Mrbreast I mean Mrbeast 😅
