  • MotoMan heads to Europe for a first look at a first: The first ever uber luxury EV, the @MercedesBenz Maybach EQS 680 SUV! Based on the @mbusa EQS 580 SUV, Maybach engineers have borrowed some tech from AMG and layered the bits that differentiate a Maybach from a Mercedes Benz. MotoMan goes on a deep dive of design, EV technology, interior as well providing some feedback to further separate the Mercedes Maybach EQS 680 SUV from the Mercedes EQS 580 SUV.

      I took a look at the latest Buick....I didn't get the appearance? Maybe because I am watching from Europe and we don't have Buicks over here.

    Occasionally, everyone will have to office somewhere and this certainly beats the coffee shop. Nice to see they included the AMG motors and fantastic review‼️ 13:49

    Bentley recently released an EWB version of the Bentayga. I feel like Mercedes should have done the same, because a Maybach version is supposed to have a longer wheelbase.

      Mercedes just taking vehicles with a three row removing and moving the second row farther back same thing with the GLS Maybach

    The Maybach is way better looking than the standard version. Not these wheels, but the classic monoblocks on offer are specfckntacular.

    Given most of the Maybach touches on this car are simply superficial window dressing (i.e. no stretched wheelbase, same tech as the SUV 580...pretty much the same everything as the SUV 580), I'm not sure it's really going to be worth the premium over the top trim EQS SUV 580. Also, IMHO, the chrome around the windows cheapens it quite a bit. Then again, if you've got enough money to consider something like this, you're starting to creep into Bentley territory. Are you really going to choose this jumped-up 580 over a Bentley? Yeah, yeah, I know, it's electric, but still, it begs the question.

    I think it is clearly evident that the EQ brand has been the result of much haste, approximation and the need to chase the new frenzy of electrification. The fact is that all EQ’s have not had the appreciation of the public simply because they are ugly. As for the Maybach brand, I always thought that, when confronted mainly with Bentley and Rolls, it should have more personality, a personality separate from the Mercedes models. Yet, every Maybach is just a more refined and luxurious Mercedes. And when it comes to dealing with a Rolls or a Bentley, you simply bump into a bitter truth: Maybach is not up to it.
    As a long-time Mercedes-AMG customer, I don't understand either the EQ product or the Mercedes-Maybach.

      VW UX aside, really like the exterior design of the ID.7 and the fact that it is a 5 door. That said, judging by the views from each channel that did attend the reveal in NYC in relation to their usual traffic, not much interest in the ID.7

      It'll do the job, but the drivetrains and packaging are just embarrassing in 2023. We are 11 years after the orignal Model S. If a little KIA is soooo much ahead now, are Merc even trying with their special AMG drivetrain bits? Seems like they just got a surplus NOS lot from China.

    Hmmm, I think Mercedes should of extended the new EQS680 by six inches, extended the rear seating by three inches, remove the rear screens and add speakers in its place, add a 24” ceiling mounted 8K wide screen TV with ATOMS speaker on either sides, replace that ugly phone charger with a powered draw mounted one instead and add Rolls Royce air ride on air ride magic carpet ride suspension with 23” or 24” wheels with floating center hub. Oh yeah, a it should be a quad motor and not a dual motor configuration. What do you thing knowing this thing may cost upwards of $300+.

    The drivetrain spec sheet reads like a nice selection of lame excuses that newbies and Merc fanboys will eat up like cookies.
    It's just NOT impressive. In any way.
    HOW LONG have Merc been working on EVs now? They were already involved in the early stages of Tesla, with Tesla. What an utter disappointment. Imagine they'd bought Lucid's technology. Add a 300 litre frunk to EQS, 250 EQE, 400 litres to EQS SUV and Maybach EQS SUV. Oh oh oh it's the special AMG motors and cells? What special? You can't get weak motors or cells for ancient cars like Model S. One little Lucid motor has the same power as the whole Maybach "680".
    How little effort is Merc putting into this, to be shown up SO HARD? We know Porsche was holding back hard on the Taycan, and that's still a great thing. And that's getting long in the tooth now as well. Now a little Kia beats up the EQS and Maybach for charging time, by 14 minutes. Each time. But the fake hippie Tesla and the Lucid whip this thing as well. Even the VW cars stopped being too slow.
    Have Merc officially given up? Decided to charge customers A LOT for what entry level not-so-premium brands easily match? Yes the ride and comfort will be amazing, but why have a second rate drivetrain, why is that supposed to be OK, let alone for the money and prestige?
