We really do. In general, we need more devs that talk to the audience and address issues as much as him. So many studios, companies, and people are so quiet when it comes to any critisism. We need more people like him, and a big factor is just communication.

This might sound kinda weird but if vanguard wasn’t here to fail, zombies wouldn’t ever get a chance to rise back up. We needed a game to fail to show everything that zombies is and should be, and hey now we know the next game is going to be amazing compared to this one
When I heard that Treyarch was developing Vanguard Zombies and everyone was like, "Sledgehammer isn't making the Zombies, this is going to be great!" I knew that it was going to end poorly because Treyarch would have to rush it and to an extent I was right. I did not predict the doing away with round based and going for objective based because why the fuck would you do that. But in reality, it was probably the easiest way for them considering they had just made Outbreak with tons of objectives and they probably saw that more players (likely casuals) seemed to enjoy it over the majority of normal Cold War Zombies maps.

The 3 studios are almost all just a blend of 1 at this point, especially with the stupid joint integration of the last 3 CODs

The only time people played zombies for the horror factor was probably when Nacht and Verrukt came out. Genuine zombies maps with no way of beating the map and was actually difficult. Was an adrenaline rush having to run away from zombies in a cramped space with guns that did little damage, especially in verrukt with super sprinters.

47:28 this is exactly why I liked pokemon legends arceus so much. everyone was saying how bad the map was rendered as you moved further, but the gameplay was amazing and I loved it
@LadMMA ive beaten the game and got a full living dex. The story is great, and i like the new pokemon, but the objects that are far, like mountains and such, have polygons and bad renders until you get closer. You cant notice it much until you get the ability to fly, which is late in the story. 100% recommend, although at this point its kinda dead as theres not much post game aside from a ministory once you fill the dex. Super fun though!

So no, different parts of the map will definitely feel similar because it helps with map flow. But this is vanguard zombies, so it wouldn’t have worked anyways.

Imagine a gobble gum style covenant system, or a trail like system where you can do objectives during a round based map, or being able to do an Easter egg to ‘upgrade’ one of your perks, Vanguard zombies is like a broken down abandoned car, if we strip it for parts we could build an insane zombies game mode.

The thing in this video I disagree with most is the point about super sprinters, they are a useless mechanic, they need to be completely voided from the idea pool. They only serve to make the game less fun every time they show up and in every game they are in, Cold War included, they force the player to do nothing but camp for high rounds. Super sprinters literally ruin high rounds for me.
5:07 i think what saved Cold war zombies was its fantastic gameplay mechanics. The maps were less than average but the new mechanics made the game feel so great its hard to hate it.
I wish I could understand how people like CW after experiencing BO1-BO3… the maps had 0 efforts put into them. Nothing complex or unique about them. It’d be a war crime to compare the feeling I had when loading up MOTD or Origins for the first time vs Die Maschine. They literally took Nacht and based the map around that

It's mediocre. generic MP operators with 0 personality, only 4 survival maps lowest number since WaW, not to forget that all of them are generic and uninspired AF. Also 0 challenge. Never was a zombies mode this easy and catering this much to noobs. The whole Warzone catering was atrocious. The whole Outbreak focus which had nothing to do with Zombies anymore, all the handholding, simple EEs, 100 ways of killing zombies without issue, busted perks. Never ammo problems. You can literally go high rounds without buying a single weapon dude. Game is easy AF. And all those guys who sucked of CW, now act surprised when Treyarch releases Vanguard Zombies which basically goes all in on the Outbreak formula. Those casuals got what they asked for.

Warzone is what killed zombies adding an extra gamemode that became more popular than zombies and that’s the audience they now cater to I’d rather play bo4 with all its problems then the soulless Cold War zombies that feels like multiplayer
Cold War Zombies in my opinion was good and pretty different but lacked a lot of personality. Bo6 looks more like Cold War 2 and even though I like Cold War stuff like Loadouts didn’t need to come back. I honestly made my own notes about what I want for zombies after I saw Liberty Balls.
The point of cod zombies is earned overpowerdness, i we have that we can build from there but it's one of the most important things that makes the game fun.

I have an idea for the perk upgrade problem, why not combine cold war's system with Vanguard's. I'm thinking of a pack a punch for all perks, like a cool looking fridge or something. Just like with the cold war pack a punch you would have 3 tiers on top of the perk itself, now you'll have to choose wisely which to upgrade first and you have another to spend points on. And i think we should keep the Vanguard system of when you down that you won't lose your perks but instead have the drop down to tier 0 or 1 depending on how much we will make the upgrades cost or else it'll be too much of an pain in the ass to get them back to tier 3.

It all boils down to one core issue. The focus of the games shifted to story (which I personally am ok with), and then they ran out of story, and when they tried to do a new story they forgot they didn't have to change the game play as well. They could have moved on with the story for bo4 and kept the game play essentially the same, and it would have been a way better game.
I’d love and in depth view of BO4, a lot of people who are newer to the community don’t seem to realize the massive slap to the face BO4 was to the community.

When lex says SOE was made in two years, how was the rest of the DLC completed in a few months of each other? Like I’m guessing they worked on all the maps within the same timeframe? I’m genuinely curious about that process
SOE and DE probably started development around the same time and whilst in development the other 3 main maps were getting started. When BO3 was announced SOE was probably 99% done and DE was around 75% complete with the rest lying in the 30-60% range of completion. From SOE release to DE release DE would have had the finishing touches done and that repeats for each of the dlcs
The heads at Activision were holding the poor developers at gunpoint saying "make this fuckin game so we can have profits this year." I feel bad for Sledgehammer as a developer because everything they've been told to do was out of greed and they had no real say into how their games should flow

I think for me the first red flag was having purely MP developers talking about the zombie mode, and not a zombie dev in sight.

Cod Vanguard was a slap in the face, its insalting AND they didn't just lowered the bar, they dugout a 10ft ditch and dropped it in that ditch. So the bar is not even on the floor, its below it...
here’s the thing. when bo4 came out the reason everyone hated it was bc of how different it was. cold war came n fixed all that n then vanguard said “let’s change literally everything again n see what happens” the same result. now ik change is good but completely gutting everything we know ab zombies isn’t the move n never will be. cold war did such an excellent job of what i’m talking ab. added in so much new content we haven’t seen but also kept stuff we’ve known since the beginning. that’s what we need.

Imagine a gobble gum style covenant system, or a trail like system where you can do objectives during a round based map, or being able to do an Easter egg to ‘upgrade’ one of your perks, Vanguard zombies is like a broken down abandoned car, if we strip it for parts we could build an insane zombies game mode.
But doesn't the game already let you upgrade covenants and perks? Idk see what you mean but that sounds even more tedious

The thing in this video I disagree with most is the point about super sprinters, they are a useless mechanic, they need to be completely voided from the idea pool. They only serve to make the game less fun every time they show up and in every game they are in, Cold War included, they force the player to do nothing but camp for high rounds.
Super sprinters literally ruin high rounds for me.

5:07 i think what saved Cold war zombies was its fantastic gameplay mechanics. The maps were less than average but the new mechanics made the game feel so great its hard to hate it.

I wish I could understand how people like CW after experiencing BO1-BO3… the maps had 0 efforts put into them. Nothing complex or unique about them. It’d be a war crime to compare the feeling I had when loading up MOTD or Origins for the first time vs Die Maschine. They literally took Nacht and based the map around that

I put countless hours into CW, just because my friends always jump to the newest CoD after a while.
The game just isn't great. It's mediocre.
generic MP operators with 0 personality, only 4 survival maps lowest number since WaW, not to forget that all of them are generic and uninspired AF. Also 0 challenge. Never was a zombies mode this easy and catering this much to noobs. The whole Warzone catering was atrocious. The whole Outbreak focus which had nothing to do with Zombies anymore, all the handholding, simple EEs, 100 ways of killing zombies without issue, busted perks. Never ammo problems. You can literally go high rounds without buying a single weapon dude. Game is easy AF.
And all those guys who sucked of CW, now act surprised when Treyarch releases Vanguard Zombies which basically goes all in on the Outbreak formula. Those casuals got what they asked for.
man i wanted this game to be good. But I litterally opened the game on day one, went to Zombies, played one round and uninstalled that fucking garbage. This has to stop and it's good that we are highlighting this shit. ( I mean we were complaining but it's nice to see it all condenced into one video). Love the content from both Lex and Chopper.

Warzone is what killed zombies adding an extra gamemode that became more popular than zombies and that’s the audience they now cater to I’d rather play bo4 with all its problems then the soulless Cold War zombies that feels like multiplayer
Cold War Zombies in my opinion was good and pretty different but lacked a lot of personality. Bo6 looks more like Cold War 2 and even though I like Cold War stuff like Loadouts didn’t need to come back. I honestly made my own notes about what I want for zombies after I saw Liberty Balls.
So yeah it’s basically more like smaller Warzone with a side of zombies
That Volvo i5 hate was not needed. It’s a god tier motor. Especially the turbo one found in the 850
The point of cod zombies is earned overpowerdness, i we have that we can build from there but it's one of the most important things that makes the game fun.

I have an idea for the perk upgrade problem, why not combine cold war's system with Vanguard's. I'm thinking of a pack a punch for all perks, like a cool looking fridge or something. Just like with the cold war pack a punch you would have 3 tiers on top of the perk itself, now you'll have to choose wisely which to upgrade first and you have another to spend points on. And i think we should keep the Vanguard system of when you down that you won't lose your perks but instead have the drop down to tier 0 or 1 depending on how much we will make the upgrades cost or else it'll be too much of an pain in the ass to get them back to tier 3.

This is objective fact.
It all boils down to one core issue. The focus of the games shifted to story (which I personally am ok with), and then they ran out of story, and when they tried to do a new story they forgot they didn't have to change the game play as well. They could have moved on with the story for bo4 and kept the game play essentially the same, and it would have been a way better game.
I’d love and in depth view of BO4, a lot of people who are newer to the community don’t seem to realize the massive slap to the face BO4 was to the community.

the downfall started when they decided to release every single game (MW19 excluded) with a zombie mode......0 time to let it "breathe" and it feels like the mode exists just for the cashgrab

I think it began development a month or two before forsaken was released which is why it was such an underwhelming end to cold war since the final few months didn't get the full attention of the studios

Bruh I couldn't even make it to the second campaign level and didn't even try zombies after the zombies youtubers tried it and bashed it. All I do is play 1v1s against my friends now because the weapon customization is so damn cursed lmao.
I feel so bad for treyarch. they're like that one guy in some sitcom that constantly is doing good, but gets absolutely dicked over by the forces around it. it's both funny but also really depressing, but goes to show how good Treyarch is with their games that they pretty much used them for short term sales

When lex says SOE was made in two years, how was the rest of the DLC completed in a few months of each other? Like I’m guessing they worked on all the maps within the same timeframe? I’m genuinely curious about that process
SOE and DE probably started development around the same time and whilst in development the other 3 main maps were getting started. When BO3 was announced SOE was probably 99% done and DE was around 75% complete with the rest lying in the 30-60% range of completion. From SOE release to DE release DE would have had the finishing touches done and that repeats for each of the dlcs
