The bottom line is that you can study Method acting anywhere, but most famous actors never studied acting at all. They're just naturally talented & bright. If you want to formally study acting, you must choose the school that provides you with the best tools for your craft. Go to Julliard, if you're not interested in studying theatre & acting as an academic discipline. If you're interested in studying theatre as a prospective pro & as an academic discipline, go to Michigan, Yale, NW, or CM.

He was as naive as most high school students are. It's really a no-brainer. Michigan has always had a more highly regarded music school than Carnegie Mellon, and the musical theatre program and former theatre & drama department are a part of the University of Michigan School of Music. The UM School of Music is one of the top music schools in the nation, and now the musical theatre program is considered one of the top programs in the nation.

Michigan is recognized as one of the very best musical theatre programs in the nation now. I don't see Carnegie Mellon listed as one of the top musical theatre programs anymore. Michigan's program is more highly regarded now. Michigan has famous actor alums like James Earl Jones, Selma Blair, Christine Lahti, Lucy Liu, & Jean Peters, etc, but they didn't necessarily major in theatre as students at UM.

Finally, if you're interested in studying theatre as an aspiring professional & as an academic discipline, and wish to become a triple theat in acting, singing, & dancing, then Michigan should be one of your top choices, if not your top choice. Also if you prefer a fuller & more diverse collegiate experience at one of the top academic institutions in the world, then how can you not select Michigan? Northwestern, another great school, only ranks 27th in the world, whereas Michigan is top 20.

Why the hell would anyone consider Carnegie Mellon when Michigan is consistently ranked as one of the very best universities in the world? It's consistently ranked as one of the top 20 best universities in the world by USN &WR. Carnegie Mellon is not. CM is known primarily for its engineering & performing arts programs, whereas Michigan has much stronger academic departments & programs across the board. Michigan has the more highly regarded music theatre program as well. It's a no-brainer.

Michigan has the more highly regarded engineering program as well. lol Let's face the facts, Michigan is highly regarded around the world, whereas most people in the world have never heard of little Carnegie Mellon. Michigan is the 6th wealthiest college & the wealthiest public college in America. Everything at Michigan is world class. That's not true at CM & most other colleges. Michigan has even become famous for producing alot of Broadway actors.
