  • Hey! Welcome to my channel! I really wanted to create a positive and uplifting place to talk openly about my experience with having thyroid cancer, all the way from diagnosis to post surgery recovery.
It is such a rare form of cancer and is unfortunately very common in young women, I couldn't think of a better way to raise awareness and help others than by sharing my story.
My goal is to upload a video every week covering a different topic surrounding thyroid cancer and hopefully it will be useful to someone out there!
Thank you for watching my video and for being patient with my speech as I learn to use my tongue properly again. As always I am so grateful for all the love and support I have received. Subscribe if you find my video interesting and feel free to share if you think it would be useful to anybody else!
    Lots of Love, Eleanor xxxxx

Dear Eleanor, almost 2 years after you posted this video, I have just watched it. Thank you for sharing this! I had a routine chest CT scan a few weeks ago, and everything in the scan was okay - except, nodules showed up on my thyroid. I went to a leading endocrinologist for 4D ultrasound scans, and although the right side nodules appeared to be benign cysts, the left side nodule appeared suspicious with a solid echogenic appearance, and with micro-calcifications. 2 weeks later, I had the FNA biopsies performed. Fortunately, the right side nodules showed up as benign, but the left side nodule was "non-diagnostic" meaning I will have another round of FNA biopsies performed on that nodule in a few days. My "layman's research" tells me that with the left side nodule appearance, there is a 95% chance it is malignant - either papillary carcinoma as you had, or follicular carcinoma. It seems that no matter what the next biopsies may or may not show, I will face the same type of surgery you had. The waiting is difficult indeed as papillary spreads to adjacent lymph nodes and is normally contained in them, but follicular spreads via the blood system.

I wish I could like this a million times! So beautifully explained. I'm glad you talked a bit about your vocal cords because I had a similar issue! My voice was so tired all of time and would even start cracking. I'm excited to get my voice back and see if there's any improvements. Thank you so much for being so open and willing to share your journey. You will change lives! Cant wait for more! xoxox

Thank you Alyx! I'm hoping that I will be able to do a video in the future talking about the risks of thyroid surgery and if it can effect your voice. I found it difficult to find a resource that wasn't totally terrifying! Think of you every day and hope each better is easier than the last. All my love xxxx

Hi lovely 💗 I’m sorry to hear you have had a diagnosis. I remember being very scared as I’d never had surgery either so I can understand how you must be feeling. It’s easy for me to say but you will feel so relieved once it’s all over. I promise you’ll be back to your normal self before you know it. I listen to a brilliant podcast run by another fellow ThyCan survivor called ‘fifty percent cancer’ on Spotify and she covers lots of different topics surrounding a diagnosis and life after surgery. You’re never alone so please don’t hesitate if you ever want to send me a message on insta, I’m always here to help 💓 sending all my love and positive thoughts your way xxx

I have a lump on my neck had a scan and biopsy. Got the results back and they can’t say if it’s cancer or not. I have to get an operation now so they can see if it is cancer or not. I am very worried.

paul lewis Hi Paul, thank you for leaving me a comment. I realise that there are a lot of different approaches however surgery was the best option for me! I’m feeling so much happier now this cancer is out of my body and I’m looking forward to moving on with my life again! Unfortunately my cancer had started to spread and we didn’t want it to go any further. Thanks again for your support x
