Sorry about the delayed response - a 16 might be a bit too large. A lot of smaller 12 aluminum boats with smaller motors do ok, but I've seen 16' ones with pretty damaged lower units come off the water
It's actually not a canoe - it's a Gheenoe - made in Titusville, Florida. Best boat for small water I've ever owned - you can stand in it without fear of it tipping over.

Hope you're still monitoring. I'm in Syracuse. What is the Grasse River depth - sufficient for a 16' aluminum motor boat or limit to a canoe?
