Mr Swanson. I’ve been coming up to Saranac lake to play rugby in the end if july for the past 12 yrs. have recently become an avid musky angler. The last few years have started targeting pike on lower saranac as well. I’m a member of our local Muskies Inc.conservation group down here in central Pennsylvania as well. I had come across your videos on the grass river and I’m quite intruiged to say the least. My question is regarding access. I fish out of a small aluminum flat bottom with a jet drive outboard. As far as I could tell the only access I could find was in Massena at the fire company or possibly above that at a campground who’s name escapes me. Being a small and light craft I’m able to launch jst about anywhere unlike most boats. I am not asking for “spots” or anything like that, however I AM wondering if I should be looking to try to launch above or below the damn....or if either is even possible.
My other question....possibly more important is water temps that time of year. Typically we stop targeting musky when the water temps hit 80 and it totally ignorant as to what your water temps are up there in late July. I am trying to get as much info as I can bcause Massena area is atleast an hour and a half drive from saranac and I will already have driven 9 hrs jst to get there
I just found a spot last year similar but smaller but in TN I've caught 60 since then longest 51in biggest 48in but over 40lbs I could feel a turtle in its gut.
I just found this channel. 3 best rivers were Grasse, St Regis and Deere.. unfortunately I heard the Deere is not doing well. Some reason the Raquette does not carry Muskies like the others.
Don knows what he's talking about, except he butterfingers, all the time, I'm in Cornwall across the river. Don's a great guy, my friend that lives in massena said he is very involved, said something about football

Interesting that you suggest fly fishing. We have several friends who fly fish this same river for muskies. Also have had a number of fly fishing enthusiasts visit to try their luck on the muskies.
Wow. Awesome find here in this area. I don’t see Muskie often where I go in Wellesley Island, NY. Such a beautiful fish.
I live in alexandria bay, such great fishing In this area
some of the biggest fish are in that area
I’m jealous . I live between the Hudson & mohawk rivers .. the Mohawk feels like a dead river by comparison
Awesome footage, I wish I had musky near me in ct. they are such a beautiful fish

It's amazing how muskies can thrive in small water. A 51 is truly a big one on smaller water.
Would you mind telling me where in massena please? I live 10 minutes away from massena and would love to try fishing here

What time of year were you fishing. Mid summer?
Video was transferred to my computer on July 25, so it would have been a day or so before that at most
great video fish on!
