    My daughter who was born in Canada in 2002 but came to Pakistan in 2004 and never went back needs to apply for a new Canadian passport.She was issued a passport in 2003. The only i.ds she has are her expired old passport,health card(without a photo) and her birth certificate. Concerning section 5, she needs to provide two other documents to support her identity. Can she include her Pakistani documents like her Smart card and F.R.C or her Canadian health card?
    Most importantly,thanks for such detailed information.I really appreciate the way you explain everything.

      Thank you Iram. Your daughter can use any government (of any country) valid issued ID. As long as it has the following five mandatory requirements: Name, DOB, Signature, Photo, Gender. If she has an ID with all of these then one ID is enough. Otherwise she can use more IDs to satisfy all requirements together. Hope this helps.

      Hi Jennifer. Thanks for your question. Yes, this type of stamp is quite common. The statement is actually not mandatory anymore. In the number of years of knowing the applicant section under Section 8, how specific do the years need to be?
    Hypothetically, if a reference new the applicant for 4 years and 3 months roughly, does the application need to say 4 years and 3 months or does it need to be rounded up or down?
    Also if any section does on the form not apply to me, can I simply leave it blank?

    • @TheFormFiller
      @TheFormFiller  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Linda. Thanks for your question. A reference is someone that has known your mother for at least 2 years and is not related to her. Unfortunately in-laws are seen as too close a relation, so cannot be references. However quite recently and somewhat strangely: uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces CAN be references as long as they do not live at the same address as your mother. References are commonly friends, colleagues or neighbours. I hope the application goes well. Do let me know how you get on! Best of luck! :)

      Hi Albert, thanks for taking the time to write a comment and ask a really good question. I would answer yes and in the passport number field write 'unknown', furthermore, in the blank space next to 'date of issue' you can simply write that the old passport is long expired and has been securely destroyed. Or you could provide a very short covering note with your application explaining the situation with your expired passport, which is always a wise thing to do to give context to the passport officer. All the best!

    My wife did not have a surname at time of birth, Just a first name. Our daughters birth certificate says "not stated" as the surname of her mother , which is wrong and I complained about it. it should have been left blank. Her mothers surname was not " not stated"
    So what do I put on my daughters application for her mothers surname ????

    • @TheFormFiller
      @TheFormFiller  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jeff Guarino Hi Jeff, thanks for your comment. I understand that you and you're wife are unhappy about how the province filled in the surname section. I think they have to write something in that field so 'none stated' is just the term they use. Just like other terms such as 'not applicable'. I would write 'none stated' in your child's application as this will be cross referenced with your child's birth certificate. So as long as the two 'names' match it will not cause any issue in applying for a passport for your child.
      Depending on the province where your wife was born she could apply for a new birth certificate to be issued in her current surname if she prefers, I know Ontario can for sure do this. All the best with the application!

But I have a home address in the US, would I be able to apply for the Canadian passport to have it submitted to my home address in US while I am still abroad?

    • @TheFormFiller
      @TheFormFiller  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Thanks for your question! Please note that you must apply for the passport at the Embassy/High Commission that serves the jurisdiction you currently reside in. e.g if you apply in Australia the passport cannot be mailed to anywhere outside of Australia such as the USA. You can apply however in person and as long as you will pick up the new passport in person you may apply anywhere in the world. Have you also considered the 'Retention' service that is available? It may be the solution to your issue. Please let me know how it goes, all the best!

You can also provide an additional sheet of paper if you run out of space on the form. But please do account for the two years and include any periods of study, unemployment or even travelling to ensure your application isn't rejected! All the very best :)

    Hello, Thank you for such a well done and well explained video.
    Ok, I am Canadian and live in Michigan as a "permanent resident alien" (my green card is the OLD one that does NOT need to be updated or renewed) anyways....
    1. When providing Proof of my Nationality, will my Short Form Birth Certificate suffice? It's all I have regarding my Canadian info.
    THEN....will my Michigan License also suffice for that second piece or for any other proof that maybe needed? (don't have a health card at all).
    2. Lastly, I need an expedited passport, I know they cost much more and that is fine, I was planning on driving over to London Ont (my home town!) and plan to spend at least 2 nights, possibly more if need be and arrive, first thing on a Mon morning. (hoping to have passport, if completed properly by Tues or Wed 48 hour expedited time frame)
    Any insights would be great, plus I don't mind heading home to London Ont and make a small trip out of it, show my kids where Dad is from. Thanks again.

    • @TheFormFiller
      @TheFormFiller  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Flynn. Thanks for your kind words and your question. Yes, the original short form birth certificate will be fine. As long as the Michigan license is the original and is still valid that will be an acceptable form of ID. I'm aware that certain larger offices can issue 24hr rush passports such as Toronto. But I'm not familiar with the London, ON office. It may be wise to give them an email or call +18005676868 if possible and confirm before making plans to be on the safe side. Let me know how the application goes. All the best! :)
