Ragnars speech to Gyda is one of the most beautiful speeches and scenes I have ever seen. I cried just watching this reaction. Travis nailed it. "With my peasant hands...."
Yes :\ This is the age of our father, Travis lothbrok. From here, he will prove himself as one of the best actors in history. He can make you laugh and cry by just face expressions...
i know right!!!! This, in my opinion,is one THE best scenes in the show(another being Ragnar and Ecbert's conversation in 4x14)...."with my peasant hands"...funny u mentioned it, no one elses does, and it always gives me chills...so good
That's what I was thinking too at the time. What sort of man would let his lone mother out into a world like that without attempting to protect her? That was the first thing that let me know I might grow to like Bjorn, and the first time Ragnar started to wear thin... Especially considering he not only let her leave, but didn't even send any men with her (which he definitely had to spare), etc.
The skull that Jarl Borg kissed was the skull of his first wife (who he actually loved), the one who was killed by his brother with poison at their wedding.
The version you're watching is not 'extended' with deleted material. Its just the proper uncensored version. Don't worry! The siggy/rollo scene happens in the meant-to-be seen version :)
The blu-ray extended versions are the uncensored cuts. There's a little bit more blood in the battle scenes, a couple f words, and some nudity. There's also more story scenes added and no cuts for commercials.
David Cavill i have known a lot of people like rollo. They don't kill their friends ofc. he is just trying to be his own man. he doesnt want to be called ragnars brother. he wants to be called the mighty warrior rollo.
Micky v No spoilers question: Have you or anybody else in the group looked up some info on the person Rollo is actually based on, even just wiki wise? It's actually pretty crazy how important he was to history, though no comment on how much of that transfers over to the show.
Re watching a few of your guys' reactions and realized that Tolstein (Guy who tells Bjorn to stay with Ragnar) is Sir Hugh of the Vale from GoT, the guy that the Mountain kills while jousting in season one.
Aslaug knew she would have Ragnar's sons she said that to him after they met and slept together."did the seer not promise u more sons" she has the sight so don't think she's manipulated anything, she knows her fate.
Gangrel Aussie she may not of known every single thing though, like when she dreamt Ivar drowning she only saw part of it, not him & Ragnar surviving the storm in the end.
***** Yeah, that's one of those difficulties with "visions." In the stories she was a for real "wise woman" (minor seer) and it's an odd transfer into the series. Women that "knew their place" (kitchen, minor advisor kn female related things, baby makers, etc.) were respected in the stories, but they were always sidekicks and companions. Women that actually picked up a tool (or sword'n'shield) were labelled as problematic or evil; Lagertha was just one example of that.
Granted this isn't a documentary but it's important to remember that we tend to judge these dark ages foreign cultures actions and words with our own modern Western morals and ideals.
Hey, guys. I know you get a lot of pressure from viewers, and I appreciate what you do. So instead of asking for more, I'll just thank you for believing in Mickey and giving this show a second season reaction. Keep doing what you do and stay awesome!
I know I'm late to the conversation but what might help clear up some of the confusion about episodes of going forward The Seer told Lagertha Ragnar was in danger of magic
think Odin you are still doing those. I was hoping that Surij would love the show with this episode but i guess that not gonna happen yet (we still have the Blood Eagle though).
okay I copy this this a bit Aslung Norse history According to the 13th-century Tale of Ragnar Lodbrok, Aslaug was the daughter of Sigurd and the shieldmaiden Brynhildr,[2] but was raised by Brynhildr's foster father Heimer. At the deaths of Sigurd and Brynhildr, Heimer was concerned about Aslaug's security, so he made a harp large enough to hide the girl. He then traveled as a poor harp player carrying the harp containing the girl.[3] Áke and Grima discover Aslaug. Painting by Mårten Eskil Winge (1862). They arrived at Spangereid at Lindesnes in Norway, where they stayed for the night in the house of the peasants Áke and Grima. Áke believed the harp contained valuable items and told his wife Grima. Grima then persuaded him to murder Heimer as he was sleeping. However, when they broke the harp open, they discovered a little girl, whom they raised as their own, calling her Kráka ("Crow"). In order to hide her beauty - the accepted sign of her noble origins[2] - they rubbed her in tar and dressed her in a long hood.[2] However, once as she was bathing, she was discovered by some of the men of the legendary king Ragnar Lodbrok. Entranced by Kráka's beauty, they allowed the bread they were baking to burn; when Ragnar inquired about this mishap, they told him about the girl. Ragnar then sent for her, but in order to test her wits, he commanded her to arrive neither dressed nor undressed, neither fasting nor eating, and neither alone nor in company. Kráka arrived dressed in a net, biting an onion, and with only a dog as a companion. Impressed by her ingenuity and finding her a wise companion, Ragnar proposed marriage to her, which she refused until he had accomplished his mission in Norway.
Ragnar didn't fuck up.........Largatha cant bare any children, and the seer told Ragnar that he will have MANY famouse sons....if you do the math then that means it was meant to be. Auslug does have mythical type powers but only things like seers power Also don't worry about unrated version......season three will is when you will want the unrated/extended version
Daniel Canngieter When in the show did they say she was barren or incapable of having more sons? By my remembrance, it's just been a long while and the last miscarriage definitely didn't help. Aslaug is good for bearing children because she's good for nothing else and doesn't *do* anything else. She's a pretty pet that get's petted and primped and that's it.
Daniel Canngieter In regards to Lagertha and the show, no, I think I just watched through season 2, but got disinterested as I stopped caring about any of the characters. I did read ahead however so there's no spoilers for me, and I also read up a bit on the historical and mythological basis for the characters and such. Rollo and Lagertha became the most interesting characters - to me - from that research. Guy Rollo was based on is crazy important to a worldwide historical context, more so than Ragnar, really. Also, Aslaugs mythical powers obviosuly weren't that great since SPOILERS. ;)
Blood Eagle? Bjorns mock fight with Rollo I know for sure is censored. And I just randomly know that thorunns nudity is completely censored. S2 gets censored a lot to its detriment I feel.
Remember in S1E7 when Lagertha scolded a guy because he was complaining that his wife had cuckolded him? Little did she know that a few episodes later, she would have to live through a similarly embarrassing experience.
The are many things that humans do that defy our nature for better or for worse. We’ll even make rules that make the natural seem like a shameful thing. Monogamy is one of those rules. It’s made it such that when you get in a relationship it’s automatically assumed by everyone that it’s a monogamous one even knowing that other options exist and prosper it’s treated as if it’s wrong to be otherwise even though it’s not.
HOLLY SHIT!!! YES11111!!!222!!!333!!44!!1 *Sigh* I have been waiting for this moment since "rites of passage" :) Now, I know that I say it in almost every Vikings video, but, season 2 is a masterpiece. Every episode is great, some are legendary. Many say it's the best season... But it gets even better, and then much better. Ragnar must face what he has done, sadly. While Aslaug sees nothing wrong with being a second wife, Lagertha would never share him with another wife, and he knew that... :\ But Ragnar is Ragnar... But life is a learning process, and our father, Travis lothbrok the great, is learning
I DON'T really hate jarl borg or rollo . rollo wanna live his viking way u know becoming a king of something and not just being his brother underling ...i'm pretty sure if they were knights rolo would be fine with that but was a viking he also want to achive greatness. and Jarl Borg well the guy was angry because they "betrayed" him. they promissed him raids and at the last moment they called him out...
I agree with a lot of other comments, I'd love to see this twice a week instead of maybe some anime shows (eeep dont hate me). Great episode, great reaction. I didnt want floki to win lmao Team Rollo all the way. Cant wait for more!!
Just had an epiphany: reaction videos are just 10-15 minutes of dramatic irony. I'm with Suraj. I'm only watching the show so I can watch y'all's reactions. Yeah, I said "y'all's".
Shows get so much better from second season and Lagratha gets more character development after the split.. n Suraj come on.. still not into the show...
Oberyn Martell What is 'real'? How do you define 'real'? If real is what you can feel, smell, taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain..... ... yeah bro is me. p.s. I must know the name of your plastic surgeon. Your facial reconstitution surgery looks marvelous.
I dunno why Suraj isn't fully into it, but what led me to just leave it was due to the complete lack of any real hero to cheer on from pretty mcuh the very beginning. I never saw Ragnar as even a flawed hero: he was a decent family man (for a while) but just like everyone else he's pretty much a straight up robbing murderer that breaks into other peoples homes and takes their shit. Historically it's nothing you can say, "Oh, he's evil," because this is really how cultures most often met and exchanged ideas and such (via warfare, rape, etc.). But for a television show, he's just not somebody I really ever rooted for.
I think I saw that but thought it was a movie? I'll have to look for the series if there's both a film and tv version. Does it involve two warriors protecting a king or his heir? (Nvm, I'll google it)
In real life, Ass-Log was Bjorn's mother. Laggy-Thuh never had any children. The daughter wasn't real. Ragnar is a legend/myth and is possibly multiple vikings. Don't look anything else up about these people cause they spoil what happens on the show. But i will say that Bjron was a real viking and so is Ragnar's other's child(ren).
Jinxxed0 That's actually kind of bullshit. The most information we have currently about Lagertha is that she *was* a famous shieldmaiden, and after that you can't trust anything. There was a lot of dubious interpretations and outright misogyny in interpreting the myths around her.

Taylor Keez I get goosebumps every time I see it. Travis Fimmel is amazing.
Kills me every time. 😭😭😭 The feels are real..
Micky, you have no idea. Season 2 is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Travis Fimmel's acting.
i know right!!!! This, in my opinion,is one THE best scenes in the show(another being Ragnar and Ecbert's conversation in 4x14)...."with my peasant hands"...funny u mentioned it, no one elses does, and it always gives me chills...so good
Bjorn made the choice his *father* would have wanted him to: Episode 1 callback, "A man takes care of his family."

They didn't try to kill Floki cause he is the best ship builder in their area. They need him.
Exactly, he is super important to everyone.
God dammit Micky, I was starting to worry but you pulled through. I really hope you guys do the whole series, it gets so fucking good.
Ragnar speech to Gyda was so amaizing. It's just beautiful. Cried every time i saw it.
This show just gets better with each season.
Finally you guys start season 2
The blu-ray extended versions are the uncensored cuts. There's a little bit more blood in the battle scenes, a couple f words, and some nudity. There's also more story scenes added and no cuts for commercials.
"She can't even cook!" Really, Hannah makes some of the best comments on this show and pretty much all other shows hahaha
Rollo is a Beseker..............Rollo is older, and a better warrior but he's dumber and is jealous of everything about Ragnar
If Ragnar was king and Rollo was the commander of the army. Fuck man. What they might have been.
Crazyboy98 that would've been a simple way to make Rollo slightly more happy with his position
Never got to like Rollo. Many died because of him, Ragnar and him are very VERY different.
David Cavill i have known a lot of people like rollo. They don't kill their friends ofc. he is just trying to be his own man. he doesnt want to be called ragnars brother. he wants to be called the mighty warrior rollo.
David Cavill DONT SPOIL IT BUD, DELETE IT!!!!
Pat is only alive for Vikings lol
You need to start uploading this show twice a week.
trying to, it's just tough to get together and be able to watch more than 1 at a time
Micky v Understandable, at least you guys are still sticking with this show so I'm happy.
Sleep is for the weak Sir Micky
Micky v No spoilers question: Have you or anybody else in the group looked up some info on the person Rollo is actually based on, even just wiki wise? It's actually pretty crazy how important he was to history, though no comment on how much of that transfers over to the show.
Gangrel Aussie just wait, eventually your Rollo comments will come to light
Part of Ragnars speech was from the uncrnsored version
Yes. Keep it up, guys. It gets better and better. Love me some, Vikings.
about Aslaug : "she can't even cook!" *laughing so hard right now xD
She don't need to, she rich! 💅
CeJ Miles If she actually knew her fate, she might have rethought some of her later decisions. No spoilers though, ;)
Gangrel Aussie has a point.
Gangrel Aussie she may not of known every single thing though, like when she dreamt Ivar drowning she only saw part of it, not him & Ragnar surviving the storm in the end.

I just can't watch that ''shieldwall'' scene without thinking about ''Death in Fire'' the Amon Amarth song.
I love how much of a mama's boy Bjorn is.
Granted this isn't a documentary but it's important to remember that we tend to judge these dark ages foreign cultures actions and words with our own modern Western morals and ideals.
True, true.
Thank The Gods
Thank the all father.
Hey, guys. I know you get a lot of pressure from viewers, and I appreciate what you do. So instead of asking for more, I'll just thank you for believing in Mickey and giving this show a second season reaction. Keep doing what you do and stay awesome!

If I may, I think you should watch 13 Reasons Why. Very serious subject matter but it's such a good show!

No, thats just incorrect. No one knows if Ragnar was real, one theory is that he was actually multiple people but no one actually knows. You saying he for sure didn't exist is just as ridiculous as someone saying he did.
Your avi symbolizes hate movement, I'm guessing you're black.
Ragnar is older
Rollo is the oldest. Clive & Travis said Rollo was the oldest in an interview.
