What a great discussion of the difference between Catholicism and Protestantism in the 16th Century. He breathes life into what could have really been dry and crunchy. Thank you!

L C Ringo ok I’ll give it another shot. How about the very history of Protestantism itself? There is no Protestant Church, only congregations of people gathering together here and there with very different views of Jesus Christ, what he came to do, and they only thing they agree on is that the Catholic Church isn’t the true church. Trust me, I know the true church when I see it. Sure in its form, comprehensible, understandable and not this huge mess of confusion that is Protestantism. I was once a protestant. I fought the church. Now I see the light.

I agreed, the Catholic (Universal) church will last forever, which is not equal to the Roman Catholic Chrurch, a human institution that was created durign 3rd-4rd centuries. There was NO Papal supremacy until the 4th century. Only Roman Catholics deny this; secular historians side with Protestans.

The people who revolted were Catholics, Luther was a Catholic. The people who came after them were protestants. There was no need to create new churches with different doctrines, there was only a need to reform the existing Church, which is ongoing anyway.

tony hey man get stronger in your faith. During my time, all I’ve seen is weak Catholics go Protestant and strong Protestants go catholic. There have been a vast amount of Protestant you tubers who have crossed the Tiber river. So if I should let you be Protestant then be a strong Protestant, when you’re ready, come back and let us know what we are doing wrong and I’m sure someone will enjoy a conversation with you.

tony first, I am a man. Do not question my manliness. That’s not a good way to start. Second, how do you know I don’t desire truth? I just live in darkness. And I will forever. Come on man. Btw, I was a protestant once, but then I realized some things. I went catholic for good.
I wouldn’t quote Martin Luther as much, since he did say this:
“I have greater confidence in my wife and my pupils than I have in Christ” (ref. Table Talk, 2397b).
“It does not matter how Christ behaved - what He taught is all that matters” (ref. Erlangen Vol. 29, Pg. 126).
Good works are bad and are sin like the rest.” (ref. Denifle’s Luther et Lutheranisme, Etude Faite d’apres les sources. Translation by J. Paquier (Paris, A. Picard, 1912-13), VOl. III, pg. 47).
“Do not ask anything of your conscience; and if it speaks, do not listen to it; if it insists, stifle it, amuse yourself; if necessary, commit some good big sin, in order to drive it away. Conscience is the voice of Satan, and it is necessary always to do just the contrary of what Satan wishes.” (ref. J. Dollinger, La Reforme et les resultants qu’elle a produits. (Trans. E. Perrot, Paris, Gaume, 1848-49), Vol III, pg. 248).
What do you think about this?

Your ears will never hear the sweetness of My Voice, for you refuse to listen - and so be it.
Your heart has no love and so no love will it ever feel, once you shut out the Love of God.

Anyway, He left us a Church not a Bible. His Church then produced the Bible (the 73 Books, ... make sure you read that one).
So, the true Christian faith is the one as taught by His Church, not the one you "created" after reading her produced Book (the Bible).
And when you reject or protest that true Christian faith, that will make you a protester, a protestant, not a Christian.

You seem to speak of there being one mediator in an absolute sense, excluding any other possible interaction or any subordinate mediation. But Consider, that if there is only one mediator in the absolute sense you say, then you ought never again to ask ANYONE to pray for you. Neither should you attend any church, read any book, listen to any sermon or even read the Bible (since the Bible mediates Jesus words to you).
