Just want to point out that the US is experiencing A LOT of E. coli and Listeria outbreaks and tons of products have been recalled bc of ag industry deregulations so it could also be entirely random
That is a really good point! While the restaurant should have noticed something the deregulation of food safety is really far reaching, which is terrifying. One bad food provider could sell to lots of restaurants/companies/stores and spread contaminated food very fast.
Could be but truth be told if walks like a duck and talks like a duck, then it's probably a duck, the girl starts pooping blood a day after eating the sushi and we can clearly see a worm in Keith’s Sushi, at the very least they need to close the restaurant do some intense investigation and pay for that girl medical bills and if their tests come out clean they can even get her to help clear their name.
There's actually an e.coli outbreak in the US, especially in Washington state rn from our produce. So it is entirely possible the girl got e.coli from the veggies in the sushi and not the fish. That's just my thoughts on it. Two separate issues. But if they have a double whammy of e.coli veggies and wormy fish that's wildddd.
For real! I had people argue with me on TikTok that that’s just what fish looks like, and it does that if you poke it. I’m like WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! I hope and know not! 🤢
Why does every content creator insist on amplifying their chewing sounds? I have to turn the volume WAY up to even hear the video and then suddenly I’m bombarded by wet ass chewing and sloshing, its always the wettest possible chewing. I cannot comprehend how or why they think this isn’t disgusting
any type of meat fish can be difficult for a business to handle. food safety is very serious and meat must be handled very carefully. Ive worked in a kitchen the past 2 years and we have had 2 separate instances where a customer got food poisoning most likely from the meat in our dishes. both times our boss messaged all the employees about new things we are going to do to prevent this. but blaming the customer would neverrrr be the solution.
@@briannadegrasse9121 most wild pacific salmon at the very least has worms. Sushi grade really isn’t much of a regulated term, but in order to be safe to consume raw, salmon (and most other fish) should be frozen in accordance to CDC guidelines. The worms are still present post freezing but they are dead and thus unable to cause illness. If you eat fish, you have almost certainly eaten dead parasites because the same thing happens in heat
I am getting flashbacks to something that happened about 40 years ago. Our cat informed me that it was dinner time so I opened a new can and portioned out some food for her. As I had done this thousands of times before I didn't really look at the food, and when I was done I put a lid on the can and put it in the fridge before serving the plate to my demanding Galactic Empress. I then turned around to speak to my BFF, who stared at the plate looking like she had just seen something insanely foul. She just pointed at the plate, which my cat was inspecting with eager interest. It was MOVING. It was a massive pile of the most revolting worms crawling on that plate. I forcefully pushed away the cat, grabbed the plate and ran out to the bin as I shrieked in horror. After me followed my BFF, who had grabbed the can in the fridge. She was also shrieking as we threw everything in the trash. If I had expected to see a bunch of worms I wouldn't have minded, but this was clearly cat food where something in the production line had gone awry. Looking back we probably should have reported it, but that wasn't really a thing back then. Plus the cat probably would have enjoyed the worms but she was a weirdo.
Y'all never ate fresh food from farms and directly from trees and it shows. That being said, a little worm in fresh salad or a piece of fruit is HUGE difference from literal restaurants that deal with raw meat.....absolutely unacceptable
nah he's WAY too nice, his food literally moved!! that's so gross and i hope that woman who was hospitalized is okay and sues the living shit out of them
It's not just how the food is handled, it also comes down to the suppliers and where the fish was bred or caught that affects whether there are parasites. Ideally the fish will be processed some way, even in sushi, to help with this- but since sushi is always called "raw fish" I think some sushi places don't userstand that the fish needs to be sourced, cleaned, and prepared in very specific ways to prevent infection.
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned though is that shiga toxin producing bacteria have nothing to do with worms, so it is highly possible that it has nothing to do with the worm. The worm is plenty bad on its own, but the case of food poisoning is either not related to the restaurant at all or they have deeper food safety issues. Honestly, I tend to err on the side of unrelated because he mentioned she has E. coli and shiga toxin producing E. coli has a multi day incubation period so she may have gotten it from something she ate days before.
As someone who had food poisoning - that can go sideways so quickly! I hope that girl feels better very soon, that boyfriend got so lucky 🙏🏻 If Keith didn't have the camera rolling or this specific piece, no one would've believed that couple, no one would've batted an eye and both locations would still be open. Disgusting.

I think that Keith Lee was doing what was right in this situation and I hope the restaurant fixes their issues and that the gal in the hospital gets the care she needs. What a mess.
In October I went to Fob Sushi with a couple of friends when I visited Seattle and we tried to food and it was good. However we didn’t order any of the raw fish because we really don’t like eating raw fish, but we also knew that parasites can be found in raw fish if it was not stored properly. IT IS MY TIME TO SHINE (I'm graduating very soon with my masters in Public Health). There are a few reasons why some diseases, like e. coli, keep reemerging and spreading quickly. And a lot of the time, it is the manufacture or food processing center that is to blame. For the context of what was going on in this video, some factors that could have promoted e. coli transmission are; antibiotic resistance due to overuse of antibiotics in agriculture, where the fish/animals were raised before being shipped the store/restaurant and the small number of food processing facilities. There are a couple of things that could have happened that were not the restaurants fault like: The vegetables, meat or fish could have been contaminated during the processing process or where they were stored. 1 facility could have been contaminated and when sent it mixed with other foods and contaminated those as well. Or if the fish was "wild caught" it could have been contaminated since exotic anumals or wildlife are common sources of diseases. If it was the restaurants fault it could be poor storage, poor handling, and unsanitary surfaces. HOWEVER whether or not it was the restaurants fault does not matter: the restaurant is responsible and should use this as an opportunity to update infection control policies, deep clean, and train/retrain staff on food handling if needed. E. coli can be deadly, especially to older or immunocompromised persons. Other bacterias like listeria can kill developing fetuses if a pregnant person gets infected. Therefore again, the restaurant needs to take responsibility and work with the public health surveillance programs and evaluate their good handling.
Bonito flakes are usually a light red/brown colour and thin but they’re very visible and move very differently from a worm so I don’t think it could be. I wish I could say it was tho, bonito flakes are much better than a worm in your food 🤢
