Rocky 7 Rocky Battles Myers !!!!! One has heart , the other is eternally Evil . Will Rocky be able to change him . Coming to you from Tom Adams Pictures , Produced by Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhee's , I bring you ... Rocky 8
Fantastic analysis. In many ways, I like to think of the revival of the Halloween series to be the Rocky Balboa of the Rocky franchise. I think we can for the most part agree that H20 (especially Resurrection) and Rocky V were essentially each an overindulgence of something that was was very profitable and easy to make. It didn't carry the same charm and originality the previous installments had, so, a sequel far down the road not only seems appropriate, but almost like a fitting apology and revision of something that originally was made with dedication and sincerity, something that holds true, for Rocky Balboa, as well as a few other franchises that had relatively stale sequels, but ended up having a newcomer that was a noteworthy entry, such as Scream 4.
@@masterdanx1997 They treated him with respect in the movie context by not replacing him but by instead choosing an actor that embodies some of his vibe although in a more Italian b movie way.
The reason Laurie was so scared in H20 was because she was dealing with the events of not only Halloween 1, but also Halloween 2 when she was in Hospital recovering. Even if they took away the sibling aspect, being stalked while you're in hospital recovering would mess you up for life, so her fear in H20 was more than justified. Since this only takes place after H1 which was a traumatic event alone, it would definitely scar someone, but nowhere near the degree of H20 Laurie. I absolutely loved the final act in H20 when Laurie is basically like 'No More' and lets her son drive away while she finally chases Michael down. That 'MICHAEL' line of dialogue where Laurie shouts his name is still one of the best lines I've ever heard in a Halloween movie.
6:43 David gets him. He understands Michael. I'm so happy about this!! They handled him perfectly! Sure, the trauma-family thing was well done and I'm sure plenty of people like the idea of tough women capable of fighting a near unstoppable killer. For me though, Halloween is about Michael Myers. He's the reason I watch it. We do follow him half the time after all, unlike other movie monsters. But then I always prefer the villains in any franchise :p They're much more interesting. I could watch a whole movie done like that tracking shot of Myers doing his thing.
I think idea shape picked Laurie randomly is so much more better and cooler thing than brother sister clichee. I think John Carpenter was pressured create some motive . This movie respect John original idea. No motive, no explanations, just pure evil.
I respectful disagree. I feel like the brother sister connection gives off alot more mystery about Michael. Yea. He can simply be a stalker to Laurie Strode. But with that goes the mystery bout Halloween franchise. Michael a just be stalker trying kill people. Jason has no mystery. He's just an immortal killer listening to mommy. Freddy has none. A human turned to demon killing people in there dreams. Chuckie doesn't. Just some crazy guy spirit in a doll killing people. Leprechaun doesn't. Just a midget mad bout his gold being stolen. But with Michael and his family connection is what keep the mystery in the Halloween franchise I believe.
Instead of "random pick" option, for me personally it would be cool if he somehow saw Judith in Laurie or something, just because he saw her at HIS house when he escaped. Like the fact she was anywhere near the house -even had the keys to them! - for me personally it would be a nice reason why he picked her. So... From Laurie's perspective it would be just as if she was unlucky enough to happen to be there when he came
First of all, Jamie is a goddess. Second, this was a great interview, I rarelly watch long videos and this hold me the entire time. I'm glad about everything I learned about David, I follow Judy a long time and wanna see more of her and now Andi. The interviewer was great also.
@@WerdnaNiraehs No, what I meant is not the Final Girl herself but the psychology of her trauma and character. In S1 we find an already traumatized Sid trying to live and is nearly killed. S2 shows her apprehensive but bolder. S3 is her lowest point, she's so scared that she has run and hid. Then, in the climax, she has to face that her mom was complicated. S4 she's a hardened survivor ready to fight back. It's subtle but the arc is there.
The original movie was groundbreaking. Terrifying. Haunting beyond the theater experience. And the 40 yr sequel was equally compelling, nostalgic, horrifying and brutal. I actually screamed more in this direct second sequel than the 70’s original. Can’t wait for the “Halloween Kills” next year!!!
I looked around myself in the theater wondering how many people thought Michael was gonna have some sort of knowledge of Laurie's location wherever she was like the older films, but in the film it's all just coincidence. He just wanders the streets until he happens to make visual contact with a random person, and then proceeds to approach them.
I admire a horror movie that tries to tell a deeper story rather than just worrying about the body count and boob shot. I wish more horror movies would follow suit. As a lifelong horror fan I find that I am one of the few who cares more about the story than the inventive deaths and nudity. The story and characters have always been paramount to me. I wish Jamie wouldn't put down H20 so much. I love that movie, and the continuing of Laurie's story is the main reason why I love it so much.
damn.. the way jamie lee curtis explained how the underlying tone of this movie was 3 generations of women overcoming their trauma due to Michael ( kinda like now a days with the "me too" movement) is fucking crazy.. that shit really makes you look at this film differently
People can be cynical and snarky all they want about multiple timelines and repetitive titles and yadda yadda yadda. But the fact that a film that's 40 years old can mine ideas and explore them in interesting ways is amazing. The fact Laurie Strode has THREE (counting the Zombie films) separate and distinctive stories is a testament to the character and legacy of the first film. Yeah, sure - the need to milk a franchise for profit is an element as well...but if studio's milking IP's gives us stuff like Halloween 2018, then what is the issue exactly?
This movie was a masterfull follow up to Halloween from 78. I loved it and was on the edge of my seat all the way through. It could very well be o of my favorites of the entire series. That's why he was fixated on Laurie Strode ... not because he say her and fell in love with her.
I'm not one to correct the wonderful Jamie Lee and forgive me for sounding like a douche but she kind of did return to the Laurie Strode role many times. She not only played her in Halloween 2 and H20 as they discussed but also in Halloween: Resurrection. That's a lot of times for an actor to play the same movie character so the interviewer was right.
She was a co-lead of the first two movies, the star of H20, and then a cameo in H:R. That’s different from, say, Donald Pleasance who was the lead in five of them.
