it's a severely complex song (even with only using just over half of the snes' channels) but you managed to score all of the intricacies in just three spectacularly, the sid's capable of fucking magical things in the right hands
YOOO this cover is *GOLD* It's insane how you were able to handle the sids janky adsr so well here. i notice that there is almost no hard restart which has been quite difficult for me to pull that off on goattracker. my attempts made the notes sound offbeat or have glitchy envelopes lol. Geoff Follin would be proud ✨️ RIP
Oh HEL yeah! This is what I was thinking about with Plok! SID covers! Okay, maybe I would've let myself use the sampling/click bug wherever appropriate, but I'd love to hear you work on some of the other Plok! tracks as well.
1:05 What causes the triangle waves to bounce vertically up and down around despite being at the same volume? Sorry, I am a noob at chiptune. Amazing cover btw!
wouldn't this have been easier to compose on the 8580? IIRC you can't use filters on multiple channels on the 6581 because they will corrupt or something
I like to vary up the revision I use. Running multiple channels under the filter on the 6581 will cause some distortion (though it sometimes doesn't sound too bad, or it can sound good depending on what you're aiming for), but I didn't see any reason to run multiple channels under the filter or use any 8580-specific effects for this cover.
We'll still miss you, Geoff Follin.
what happened to him?

Amazing cover of an amazing song 👌🏽
Rest in peace, Geoff Follin 🙏🏽
wait he died? D:
Yes 😢
@@TheGoofy-Mouse oh. may he rest in piece.
you even got the time signature change right! Even the arp chords slid down! This is definitely going up there with the best c64 works
RIP Geoff Follin, a true legend. This is incredibly impressive, hot damn.
This song was already impressive on the SNES, so this is a pretty good demake.
damnn this is definitely a blessing to my ears, awesome! very dynamic ;)
PS: RIP Geoff :c
We all love you, Geoff, fly high
This is the definition of a perfect cover. No exaggeration.
Holy heck, you did a good job squeezing them all into 3 channels
ティム・フォリンはC64でBeachを作れたはずだったのか。
Finally! A cover of this song in the C64!
That one guitar part always goes hard, I'm glad you accurately recreated that part.
Such a legendary track rendered with such a legendary soundchip? Sign me up!!
The part at 2:12 almost sounds the same as the original, lol
One of my favorite tracks from Plok. Brilliant recreation. RIP Geoff

(before anyone comments that 3 isn't over half of 8, the original SNES version of this tune only used 5 of the 8 channels on the SNES)

I suddenly realised there is only one Follin composition. Each tune they made is an organic part of it.
what a great tribute to geoff follin
The guitar is heckin impressive
good work on the shred dynamics
You absolutely nailed it, right down to replicating some of the sounds. Excellent work my good man! 😊
I can't believe Geoff died at 58 like wtf
woah.
just, woah.
RIP legend 😢 that fuckin sucks, amazing c64 cover
Tim isn't dead.
This is an amazing version of this song! Bangin' !! :)
These are some of the more complex arpeggios I've heard. Nice.
Surprisingly good👍

The filter affects the unfiltered channels due to imperfect mixing on the SID.
