That's my old guitar. I sold it in 1966. It gives me some deep emotions when I see this. It was my first Martin, it was a great ticket to flunking out of Ohio State. I played it for my first love. It was clean as a whistle when I had it. I'm 79 now and the literally hundreds of guitars I've owned since all go back to this D28. My first love...

My parents gave me a brand new 1962 Martin D-28 as a high school graduation present in 1963. Price was $385. with a hard case. I have owned it and played it professionally almost daily for 60 years. I have had the neck reset, two Grover tuners replaced & new frets installed over the years. Since I am the original owner, the repairs were free from Martin. It never lets me down. It just gets better the more I play it. A total treasure. Thanks Mom & Dad!
My parents gave me a neck tie and a road atlas when I graduated college . I asked for new set of strings...I had to go buy strings ...I'm jealous
My parents didn't bother coming to my college graduation. I bought a '51, 00-17 in a pawn shop for $35 in 1963...still have it.
This one sounds fenomenal. I love Martin guitars as Johnny Cash always had them. My best accoustic which is no match to these that I own is the Crafter TA050/NA Made in Korea. One day I'll be able to own either one of these or a Martin D45.
Gene Lafond.. i’m so jealous of you.. in my opinion, A Martin acoustic guitar is the greatest sounding acoustic guitar ever made on this planet..

I've got a 1969 D28 that was one of the last made from Brazilian. It's such a beautiful sounding guitar and plays so easily. They built them so well in the 60's!

I have a ‘67 Martin D21. The last year of the Brazilian back and sides. Beautiful sounding vintage guitar. It has a low end and midrange like no other acoustic I played.
The richness, of a 60 year old Martin, just can't be beat. I believe if that guitar had not been played and loved during its lifetime, the sound would've been completely different. We, also, should appreciate the beauty that comes from a life well-lived and not worry about a few, nicks and wear we've accumulated over the years. I let everyone know, I also, am "player grade". LOL Listening to you play was 10 minutes, I didn't mind losing.
