    The chain on the Peter Pan collar is called a sweater guard ! It was used to prevent your sweater from falling when it was just draped over the shoulders instead of worn. We wore them during the 50s and early 60s. I loved them!David is my son and I'm his mom, Gwenda.

      Oh that's so fun you wore sweater guards, they're lovely!

    One thing I can't live without in the cold winters, are slips. They're great for layering under dresses and skirts

    I like that you mentioned the degrees in the start of the video. It makes it easier for me to translate what you mean when you say "winter". That is important because "winter" kan mean so different things to different people depending on where you live. Winter for me means that it is at least under 0 degrees Celcius.
    One hack with staying warm through the winter that I seldom see or hear is layering skirts. I have a little wool skirt that I often put on under the skirt or dress that I want to use if I need to stay warm… plus hundred other things that I do.
    At least I get the most sweaty if I layer too much at my torso, so I focus to layer and cover other parts of the body more (for example having wrist warmers, double pairs of socks, enough layers on my legs, clothes with long enough sleeves, beanies, gloves…). Then I don't need so many layers on my torso.
    Actually I don't own any transition outer wear. I have my wool winter jacket that I use 5-6 months a year and only layer more or less under that depending on the weather. When it is below -15 degrees I have at least one layer plus the jacket that I take off when I go inside. Besides my winter jacket I also have a spring/autum jacket that usually also wear the whole summer (because Finland) and a summer jacket in case it actually gets warm some days of the year.
    I could go on about clothes and winter all day long, but I shall not tire you out with that.

      Ohmygoodness I had a feeling you must be Nordic from all your knowledge! Never thought about laying a warmer skirt underneath, thanks dearie ✨

    Again I love your videos, and would like to give some advice in regards to the full turbine. They were worn over the ears and came down lower in the front to cover all your hair including bangs. Believe me I know as I was born in 1951 but not old at heart lol. Winter skirts were wool down to the ankle and often tight (not too tight but straight) and would have pleats at the bottom at the back hem. Also wool baggy pants and short boots with fur around the top that your shoes could fit inside. Hope this helps, your Canadian friend.

    • @itsacharminglife
      @itsacharminglife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there! Wish I could find me some of those wool baggy pants and furry boots! I started wearing the turban this way because I used to have short bettie bangs and I just preferred how it looked on me that way, that's what fun about fashion eh? Thanks for watching!

      A little bit chilly in the morning and evening but pretty mild during the day, where I am at least! There are a few mountains in Australia that get snow in winter but we’re mostly a pretty warm climate. The middle of Australia is all desert, and apparently it gets pretty cold there at night!

    You are so beautiful. You remind me of my grandmother from back in the 1930s and 1940s!! She was “black Irish” and had that beautiful dark hair that I always wished I had!!

    Always love your videos! We both have the same wool blazer/ jacket from Collectif! So cute! I usually put fleece lined tights under my dresses with a slip so they don’t stick and keep my legs toasty when I still wanna wear my vintage dresses during the very cold winter months here in MN!

    You are so pretty, and your style looks very authentic. 💖 Hair, makeup, hats, it's perfect. I love the coats, particularly the dress coat. I am new to this style of dressing. I don't know what came over me, but I feel like it's my new look. I don't know anything about it, so I watch videos. My favorite era is the 1920-1940s. I love everything art deco, flapper girls, the glamorous jewelry, bob haircuts, the long cigarettes, lol, and even the music, cars, and buildings. However, I think the 40s style suits my body type better since I have more curves (I have 3 children). Regardless, the vintage style is so much more feminine and glamorous, and I feel like I don't belong to this era at all. I went through m y grunge days, chola days, my gothic days, and even my hippie chic days. Now it's time for pinup girl. Also, I lived in Sweden too - I am in Santa Barbara now. Did you like Sweden? I couldn't wait to leave. lol I missed beautiful, warm, sunny, happy California with the chill friendly people, even though this area can get chilly and foggy during the winter. 😊💖
