    Thank you for all your great videos and detailed information. My question on Floetrol would be, is there any long term yellowing if I use it with white paint? I am excited about incorporating this technique into some of my pieces. Thank you again! - Cory jo

    • @MixedMediaGirl

      +Cory Kay there should not be, it's specifically a paint additive. I haven't noticed any yellowing at all, or heard of anyone having that issue :)

    Mixing should be weighed since all paints weigh differently,,, 1 part paint by weight,,2 parts floetrol by weight of paint and 1/2 half water by weight of paint:: water should be added a few drops at a time, mixing in between. All paints will flow evenly if this is followed.

I did my first pour today 😁 but my white base really took over.... and its drying even worse... tried to get my consistency right with all of them... not sure if the white base must be thicker or thinner? I didn't use any pouring medium, only a little water in all of them.. do you think that could be the problem? Its driving me crazy 😣 any advice would be so appreciated xo

    I'm kinda new to your TH-cam channel and I really appreciate your skill, artestry and willingness to share information. Your mixture recipe is very helpful. I have heard arguments that there is a difference between using distilled water and tap water. I would be interested to know your opinion on that. And I haven't looked for it yet, you may have already done this experiment, but what about coconut oil vs water vs floetrol vs silicone. I love the science behind it all. And are there any other products for mixing paint with that cause cell development? Anyway, you're aw and very entertaining to watch. Thx for what you do.

    It seems to me that the Floetrol is the key ingredient. I've tried, water, glue, silicone oil, mineral spirits, etc...and I'm not getting any cells. I'm a complete noob so I'm still learning. Have you ever used dish soap as your pour medium? I teach an art club with 5th and 6th graders and don't no the toxic levels for floetrel.

      @MixedMediaGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Monica Barber no I haven't, I would probably use a non toxic glue or even just the paint and a little water :)

      Monica Barber and instead of silicone you can use the coconut mik pr argan oil we did that with tempura paints for my little kids. I would add a little water if needed but tempura is really watery already

    Do you ever used PVA with floetrol? I am new to pouring so I have been trying different mixes. I have had the most success with those. I have not tried just floetrol but your paintings have much more movement than I have been getting. I am going to have to try that today.

      I used to, honestly I didn't see the point to adding the pva, it seemed like an extra, unnecessary step so I stopped adding it

      +Iris Sanchez thank you! Honestly I don't know, my friend bought it for me but its just a cheap butane lighter you can get for like $5 at home depot, Wal-Mart, Amazon, gas stations, etc :)

    Did my first pour today... didn't turn out as well as I thought.... I just did paint and water. No silicone no flow no glue...
    I had a few cells but not many.
    Can u do a camp pour for me to see how it looks. Brown, orange. Greens... (that's what I tried and I added a little metallic gold )

    At which part and how much would I have added the silicone? And why?
    Also, I don't have a torch but I feel like there are almost no cells coming through where you didn't torch it. Would that work better if I added the silicone?

    • @MixedMediaGirl
      @MixedMediaGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +OhMyGodGiveMeAName I add the silicone directly into my dirty pour cup in the middle, you can also mix it into the colors directly, which will usually give you more cells. I did a video on it here: th-cam.com/video/7nty-DTEt0s/w-d-xo.html
      You don't need a torch, but it does help get rid of air bubbles which can help create cells. You can get a little one like I use for very cheap, like $5

  • @tabitha3982
    @tabitha3982 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried my first five pours today (with just water and a dot of silicone, no floetrol), and I only liked one of the five. 😭 I'm about to head to the store to grab some floetrol and hope for the best, but I'm scared to add any water to the mix now!

    • @MixedMediaGirl
      @MixedMediaGirl  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The water will really depend on what paint you're using. Some paints you really dont need water because they're so thin. Just play around with it :)
