    The way Mark was talking about how Hideaki was moving the checkers at around 36:00, seems to be more like how players move Shogi pieces. Especially since it is native to Japan.

      Go Players and Shogi Players use the same technique to place the pieces.

      Yes. Especially all go players including amatuers learn that that way is a proper way to place your stone.

    What building are they playing in? This looks like the sort of room used for high-level go and shogi matches. And the "onegai shimasu" and bow they exchanged at the start of the match is used for those games too.

      Exactly! It is a traditional Japanese room.

    Why does Mochi not have a take for the redouble @1:25:35 ?? He has 9.48% equity in the position and gets to redouble for the match. Meanwhile, if he passes he is at 1aC 7a and he has 9.28% match equity...

    What's the schedule for broadcasting the rest of the matches? One per day for the next 12 days?

    Grandstedt was right about the 4 cube in the first game: Rollout showing a slightly bigger pass: P 0.017. XG++ suggest P 0.004. All and all, not much of a difference.

    Is there a reason for the traditional clothing? I know he does not dress this way all the time and all the seating and table is very traditional.

    What's the "PR" race mean?

    • @timmy3982
      @timmy3982 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Performance Rating, as according to Extreme Gammon

    What is PR? Can someone explain it to me?

    • @BackgammonGalaxy
      @BackgammonGalaxy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Performance Rating", it is the error rate metric the leading backgammon engine "Extemegammon" uses to identify the level of play in a match. If you play "perfect" like the engine, then you play a PR of 0.0. Usually PR's of below 4.0 are considered in the "world class" territory, and PR of above 20 is "beginner".
