What a great match between those two great players ! As a new player, I've learned a lot thanks to you guys. It's been said many times but great commentary as well. I'd also like to give those two champions credit for the respect they show to each other. Awesome ! I'l looking forward to see other tutorials. Peace from France !
Wow, what a showdown! Great fight from both players, it was a privilege to have been able to watch these two guys play. Plus, great commentary and GM analysis. Gonna miss this!
This was excellent. Great over view of the board. Very clear and easy to follow along. Great commentary. Guys, u must keep this up. Just bring back the galaxy board.
We are not selling the Neptune board anymore so it doesn't make sense for us to showcase that anymore in terms of marketing :) We will however be showing our new upcoming boards in future videos!
Great matches and videos overall! I used to play backgammon in highschool during classes with a friend in a tiny magnetic board. I haven't really played since then, more than 10 years ago. Finding this channel in the last weeks and watching this final and some of the other videos (specially the match in the Turkey market and the board collection) motivated me to come back to the game (with no intention to be great at it, but who knows). I just ordered a decent board and From Basics to Badass. Can't wait to start playing again! Thanks a lot Nick and Marc! And Hideaki and Mochy, of course!
never too late to start again. play for fun for free on backgammon galaxy or at Safe Harbor Games where they have multiple tournaments each day. teach someone you know so you can play each other after COVID!
@@sjsphotog thanks for the tips! I will try Backgammon Galaxy. And I bought the board so I can teach my family and play during lockdown. So I hope to have some "in person" adversaries to play after COVID.
Incredible and entertaining 3 days. Loved every match. Congrats to Mochi who really is a legend of BG and Ueda is going to be a force for many many years to come, that kid is awesome and plays why ahead of his years.
WOW WHat a Match. Mochy - Avg PR = 2.60 | Median PR = 2.50 | Standard Deviation = 1.40 / Ueda - Avg PR 2.86 | Median PR 2.40 | Std Dev 1.53 So.... Mochy won AVG PR but Ueda had a better Median PR but Mochy was more consistent/less deviation from his average PR. Great stuff. thats INSANE how well they played and even under time crunch they are still super human ROBOTS. WOW WOW WOW Great stuff. so so excitng last match of the last day. Mochy deserves it for sure. He did get very lucky bringing his checkers home safely in that last game. Ueda is insane how good he is at his age and experience level!!!
I admire this guys for their outstanding performance, for reminding us, that, the Japan its great country with great people, intresting culture and descipline. Ueda its the next generation of the greatest backgammon players in the world.Mochy remain the greatest player of all time.
24:05 Nice Position and example. 18/16 3/2 was of course the best move! It only leaves double 4´s for a hit, to be honest, i´m only like an advanced to experienced player, but that seemed logic to me, leaving just 1/36 opportunity for a shot instead of 3/36, the odds in the long run are amaizing if you realize that little difference! Furthermore it looks real scary to get knocked on the bar here right?? I guess I learned much about backgammon out of books written by a guy called Marc Olsen... 😊😊😊 Kind regards from Austria and thanks for this! 🤟 Christian
for those who are wondering about Mochy's slapping his hands before the match starts, that's from Shinto, which is a Japanese animistic religion. In Sumo, which is deeply connected to Shinto, athletes slap their hands before a bout. I believe it is to shoo off evil forces, but I'm not sure on that. I do know it's from Shinto. Shinto predates Buddhism in Japan and is a uniquely Japanese tradition.
Wow, what a series! Congratulations to Mochy, absolute Titan. Ueda was a worthy opponent and great entertainment value from him. I have a sneaking suspicion he will exact his revenge on Mochy in the next couple of years!
Dear my fave channel 🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳 I’m Khoi Nguyen from Vietnam and I played the first backgammon game in app in 2018 (totally that is the first backgammon game ever) but cause I’m the first Vietnamese backgammon player who likes the old game. From 2018 to now, I wish I could play the first backgammon tournament and I would be the first Vietnamese GRANDMASTER (maybe master is enough) to show my performance to my country! In Vietnam, most of player play Chinese chess and international chess but those board game are too boring for me (cause those games use only metal to win) so I prefer to backgammon as I like gambling game by fair-play not money. I want to be a member of backgammon village to meet new player, to be fun and friendly so that is my letter to you. Thank you for reading my letter Khoi Nguyen Minh (N.M.K), Saigon, Vietnam. 08 February 2021
Hi Khoi, nice to hear from you! Please join our facebook groups "Backgammon Strategy" and follow Backgammon Galaxy on facebook. There you will meet a huge and awesome backgammon community. Also, get started playing on Backgammongalaxy.com and get your Galaxy Rating to start and compete!
They're too slow. This is backgammon, not chess. Time needs to be seriously reduced, but it doesn't have to be speed chess. Some times they wait more than a minute before even rolling the dice.
Great match & even greater commentary...thanks Marc for streaming this.
Awesome work team - This is the best quality production for BG out there
Congratulations to you and your team Marc! I watched all twelve days and loved the production! Great images, backgammon, commentary and guests! Bravo

Amazing performance by both of them!
Finally a match with this board.
I might never see it in person but now I can at least see it in action used by two great players.

Great stuff. The only good part of this ending is that Nick can shave his playoff beard now.
hahahah yeah looking a little ragged COVID special for sure.

Ueda wins average PR and median PR

That's because they're considering whether to double or not. Every turn is a cube decision.
