Hey ducky! It’s been a while since I watched your videos, but I really like them! You’re one of the channels that introduced me to blender and 3d modeling and you really helped me improve at blender. I am now 12 years old and I am able to do most of what you teach such as modeling and shading and I really am having fun now that I have knowledge so I just wanted to say Thank you so much for being here and making tutorials even an 11 year old could understand.
@@kashifxahmed2087 you guys are awesome! I'm 27 doing animations in Maya, modelling and everything and now has recently started learning Blender it's so cool but animation wise it's not like Maya I'm afraid
For beginners like me, I'd love a tutorial that explains the next steps as well, since it seems the screen needs cameras, etc before we move into rendering, exporting, etc.
thank you for this! does anyone know why settings->surface->bump only doesnt show up? I cant find that option. I have the newest version of blender. Thanks
Hi, I have a question, I did the exact same thing only I did not get stuck in part 02.58 do not find the DISPLACEMENT On the right where your settings are It's for some reason does not appear to me
Hey guys, I need help, when we enter the shading on 2:26 , then do things with something up on the right, I lost, the background didn't change into a scene. plus, after I add displacement, the setting didn't show a "displacement and bump" option. any help are very appreciated. Thank You.
Have seen a lot of displacement shaders before, but none of them really ended up nearly this good. Maybe because you have a lot more geometry available. Very cool, thanks for share. that texture at 5:03 would be great for low cut thick grass like on golf course or something.
HELPPP. I have the 2.9 version and I can't find the Settings to change the displacement and Bump (2:58) Could someone help me? thanks I´d really appreciate it
I tried to render the letter and it comes out super dark... does anyone know how to fix it? I tried adding light but it only adds it to a brick I have a letter on, not the letter itself :C Pleaseee heelp
The only drawback and reason I haven't supported you on patreon is your guides do not show keystrokes or mouse clicks (which helps immensely as a blender beginner). Thank you for the excellent guide (despite that single drawback).
It's a great tutorial thank you so much As a noob i wonder how come you have " Path tracing sample " loading when you move the camera, and I have" samples " loading ( which is wayyyy longer sadly )
Can you make a tutorial on how to add a photo or image texture to the face of a 3D text? I can't find any tutorial on this at all. It seems like it should be a very simple thing to do in Blender, but all I get are lines when I try it.
Hey Ducky thanks so much for all you're putting out there for us to learn! anyone knows where to find the displacement tab in the materials parameter to change it to displacement and bump? I'm new to blender been looking for it for 2 days. Please if anyone know where to find it hit me up PS: i'm using blender 2.83.1 Thanks guys!
heyy i dont know if anyone checks this but once i get to the displacement part and i switch it to the displacement and bump nothing happens to my letter. Yes ive switched it to Cycle and nothing thanks
Short answer is that hi-res tesselation is necessary for displacement. However, I think a more optimal topology on the letter mesh would be possible by hand, and some assists from blender's retopo tools. I would use insets and the knife tool to put loops and rings parallel to the edges. Get a clean, and uniform base mesh and then subdivide to get the hi-res mesh. Sorry for being vague, but I'm new to Blender's tools. The benefit of good topology, on top of being more fast/manageable, is it opens up possibilities for texture mapping and deformation. It also teaches you about form which is always helpful in typography.
@Diego Cajaza Select your object, add a displacement modifier. Press new and go to the texture tab. Here we select the kind of texture we want. For image textures browse for your texture then go back to the modifier stack and adjust the midlevel and strength.

I LOVE using that curved plane as a background like the one in the render haha. Great video man!
Honestly I think it should be a mesh option that you can place so you don't have to build it every time :D I use it so often
Psst am i a dumb or is it really as simple as curving a plane and coloring it?

check your version
It's because the render engine has to be set to Cycles
Or you can download the 2.81 version from Blender site.

Is it possible convert(apply) to mesh the final result?
Can you upload an svg file from illustrator with your own type design as a vector image and use the same effect?
Yes
Will this work a a word? Or just a single character at a time?
I don't see a displacement option
Your render engine need to be Cycles, by default it will be Eevee, go in render properties and you will be able to change it
