In Canada we have instant oatmeal, already sweetened, for perhaps 1/20th the cost of your fancy freeze dried meals.

This will be useless 40 years from now unlike freeze dried unsweetened. Unbelievable level of childish behaviour here

Always loved the sound of rain tucked up in a sleeping bag in a tent. If you ever make it BC Canada (Just outside Vancouver) we'll show you around on the 4x4 trails we go on. We do a yearly trip to the "Whipsaw" which my highlight. Enjoy your videos Funky. Thanks for taking the time to shoot/edit and post these. Priceless. A Welshman living in Canada.

Nothing better then a open fire & fresh air. Happy new year to all. The weather here in Canada is very warm too, only had couple days of cold. We never even got snow till after Christmas normally around November the snow comes. Nice to see you out of the man cave (shed)

Great videos, its been raining a lot here too and very mild weather for Winter. However, the silver side down theory just doesn't hold up. Mylar works by reflecting infrared energy, so it can only work one way. Cold is in essence the absence of heat, so you won't be reflecting the cold. Looking forward to more videos!

Darren great series! Looking forward to more vids. Side Note I've tried all the different cube type fuels excluding the tri-ox you will normally need to use or count for 2 fuel cubes for every boil when temps are a factor to boil water as you may have found this out during your test. tri-ox cubes are larger and will burn as 2 cubes of other types of fuel. some cubes smell worst than others but I've personally had better luck with the esbit fuel and pocket stove it is smaller and hold either of my cook cup (same as u use) and my max pot and does smell to bad.

the style of fuel for your stove, I have never been a fan, Have you considered a liquid burner, they are very light and effective, I prefer to use the folding firebox mini with fire wood and small twigs it cooks well with feeder wood into the bottom slats.

Firebox has a shelf made for the fuel blocks that substantially raises the height. . Might work nicely or the Dragonfire. Or stick a lid under your little tin to raise it up.

Nice vid bro, in fact been looking for a SHTF vid from start to finish set in the uk and found yours, I love all this SHTF shit it's great, it's just shit I can get away too many commitments and why don't I ever see you guys ever light up a nice small storm (hurricane) lantern? All this sitting in the dark personally I'd fire up my Feuerhand which means fire starting, bit of warm (in fact gives of loads of heat when been glowing for a bit) could fire up that little folding stove ting too and not forgetting light for about 6ish hours on low setting, could be a great addition to one of your vids, anyway great work bro, thumbs up...

another great vid Funkster, and yeah no point ever buying anything from the states/canada although they do have some really nice gear we get gouged on postage and packaging and import duty and customs charges and the total cost of an item is sometimes 2-3 times what the original item costs :( especially seeing as i buy stuff from china all the time and it's delivered with free p+p and as they don't really care for our laws they devalue the total on the packaging to avoid duty and customs charges. Nice use of exit music for a film towards the end also.

  • @kjumper1

Yeah it looks like the Fire Dragon might really only be useful as a fire starter. You would think something like that would out do the hexi blocks! Great advice about individually tailoring your BOBs. What works for me may not work for you. Great video series Darren and hopefully it inspires people to get out and test your kit and not leave it packed up for ages!

Hey Funky, I hope to out my thoughts down after the last vid, but, regarding the fire dragon: Keith Zero Pence made a spirit burner with one of those tins, adding a coke can inner sleeve. I wonder if the FD would burn more efficiently if you did the same. It is a very recent vid of his. I don't have any FD to try it myself, but if it melts as you say, it might be worth a try.

I get that you may not care for Cinnamon but as a note from on vet to another try to think of the bennies of having cinnamon in your meal. It fights Inflammation, cancer, blood sugar spikes, fight bacterial and fungal infections and several others were I th look it up. I mix some with baking soda and use it to brush my teeth about once a week. I hate onions and bell pepper and would rather suck a pigs ass till his head caves in rather than eat either though I know onions are suppose to be good for me. Guess that paints a picture of what I think of onions and bell pepper. I prefer the cinnamon and mix some with my superfood drink each day. Thanks for the training video.
